- In this video, I make a Steel Knot Metal Handle which is an Industrial Style Metal Handle, bending rebar to make the Sheepshank knot. I love the look of industrial furniture and all the decor that comes with it, and this rebar handle has the look I like. I hope you enjoy my video of the project, it was a lot of fun to make.
The main tools used, are an LPG Burner, MIG welder, angle grinder, drill, and bench vise.
The Rebar in the handle is 13mm (1/2 inch), The wide flat bar is 75mm wide (3 inches), and 6mm (1/4 inch) thick, The smaller flat bar is 65mm wide (about 2 1/2 inches) and 3mm thick.

Always use all the correct safety gear, and use your tools safely, I am not a good role model for this.
Hope you found something of use in my video or at least found it entertaining.
Gavin Clark DIY
Note: When you bend metal/rebar, you naturally weaken it. Bending it cold will normally cause fine cracks, and it may even break if you put enough strain on the rebar or bend it in the same place too many times. Do not rely on cold-bent steel/rebar to support a load. Хобби

Thats first time I see that on RUclips .. the knot is very nice, good job.
Thank you very much. I am Australian, and live in Australia, I grew up using imperial and metric, so I easily use both.

You should do sailing knots and sell them ⛵
I have done a few knots in steel, I enjoy making them, Cheers! John
Very nice. How long did it take to make that ?
С любовью из России. Здесь не все упыри.
Большое спасибо. Привет из Австралии. Ура!
Oh my god, this is great and I want to try it. But tell me, what about rust? After a few months or years, will it rust? Do you apply a clear coat or something? Greetings from very cold Canada!
I often use Penetrol Rust Treatment Penetrates Rust 300g Aerosol Spray, and then put two topcoats of Semi-Gloss Clear Coat. That is what I used on the rebar lettering on the back of my workbench, here is the link to that video. ruclips.net/video/JA-wk62Zghk/видео.html I try not to comment on finishes, As what climate you are in, is it inside-outside, lots of rain, ice, do you want long term and rarely touch, or a wax with a wipe over every year. That is why I have no opinion, Please ask someone in your area what you should use, I feel this is a better way to find out what would be best for you. Thank you for your comment. Greetings from Australia.
Nice work very inspiring!! When I heat rebar for bending it seem to crack or break ?? Any thoughts? Thank you!!
Thank you very much, I am glad you liked it. I have had the same problems at times, this one went well, but the rebar does not like to be bent one way and then back in the same direction, if it is always a new direction it seems to be OK. I hope that helps a bit. I wish you the best for your project.
Hi if used on a shed how do you stop it going rusty love the style on your work

How are you Gavin? How is life?
Your channel says you’re in Australia. Australia has the same type of 120v plugs as us in North America? Not the big UK style?
Yes I am in Australia, we use 240volt power in Australia.
do you do commissions?
No, I am sorry I do not, I appreciate your comment.
