I’ve painted with acrylics all my life. Watercolour is new to me. The way you teach makes is so approachable and make me feel so confident. I’ve already knocked a few out that I’m happy with. Thanks so much!
I love your videos, always looking forward to them and this is a nice video. Would love to watch a long in depth video of your painting, perhaps done over two or three releases, and many thanks for the videos
Just ordered copy! Thanks for this video. I found it really helpful in going light to dark as I often go too dark too soon instead of just making shapes first then defining at last minute. 😊
Had a go and really enjoyed the painting but as you said you have to get the right amount of water on the paper. Lost my trees so will be coming back to this. Fascinated by the controlled wash technique though. I guess the clues in the name!!
Bonjour j’apprécie votre démonstration et peindre un si beau paysage juste avec ces 3 couleurs c’est fantastique merci je vais tenter de reproduire vos explications sont simples après il faut le talent bien sûr 😉
Just ran across your channel and subscribed. I've never water color painted before. But I want to give it a try but I want to learn some of the basics first. Your videos are awesome. What kind of paper are you using and what weight ? thanks.
Hi Wes, I use several brands of paper, Saunders Waterford and Arches are two favourites, but any 100% cotton paper is fine. Usually 140lb cold press texture.
I don’t have many problems with the paper wrinkles, good quality paper will dry flat. In my experience, it’s worth investing in paper over brushes or paints.

It’s a great book, Claire. I know what you mean, it’s often tempting to define areas too soon

@@clairecarter9372 Great, Claire! Water control really is the key to this technique, but once you get it, it’s worth the effort 😊

I managed to find a copy on Amazon for 49p plus postage, hope it’s readable 😃
Amazing! It’s an old book, so a lot of the images are black and white, but the techniques described are fantastic.
@@ChrisStephenArt I am a sucker for art books, so I am sure it will be really helpful.
@@ladygwarth Me too, my book shelves are overflowing!!
@@ChrisStephenArt Ha, ha,I know the feeling.
@@ChrisStephenArt The book arrived, a 1983 edition and it is in excellent condition, a proper bargain 😃
