i've been looking for ways to combine acrylic inks with watercolor. this video was hugely inspiring! i kept wanting you to stop before you 'ruined it' but instead you kept making the painting better and better. thank you so much for showing this process. i really appreciate it.
Hello. I am a new subscriber, and so glad to find your channel through this video. I searched ink and watercolor, and was so excited to see you using bottled acrylic ink like this. I like daler rowney, and LOVE seeing how others use it. Of interest, I usually don't like background music of any kind, but really enjoyed this music and your talking a little as you did it. Thank you. All around enjoyed this so much. Just wonderful and hope to see more in the future. Sincerely, Paula.
Another beauty Christopher. I really love this technique and I seriously dig gnarly trees!! I'm having a lot of fun with ink and watercolor. Thanks so much for your tutorials. Love the music too. Cheers!!
I love this, never thought of using ink before but your videos inspired me. For me, the first few strokes dictate what the painting will be mainly because I never have a plan in my head . Many thanks from a "new to painting" viewer 😊
Glad to hear you’re inspired, ink and watercolour work well together!! I paint in a similar way to you, I usually have a rough idea of a subject, but then allow the painting to dictate the outcome.
I've been playing with the idea of trying ink with watercolors, is it water soluble ink you use? And how do you clean the ink off your brush after? Is it india ink ? There's so many different kinds I don't know which one to buy.
I used acrylic ink for this demo, but India ink works just as well. I don’t use my best watercolour brushes for ink, just cheaper synthetic brushes. Keep a pot of water nearby, the same as you would with watercolour and you can rinse the ink off.
Absolutely stunning….curios, does anyone else see the eyes on the right just above the tree…amazing!
Yes! I can the eyes…

I’m glad you liked it, Alice. Ink is great for this kind of thing!!
I didn’t know that you can use ink this way! It’s so beautiful for black and white painting… thank you Chris!
Yes, ink is very versatile. Just make sure to use waterproof ink

Hi Paula, thanks for subscribing !! I’m glad you liked the video
That is really nice! I love the dark ink contrast with the soft watercolour sky and water.

Really like this mixed media. Had a go after Moira Huntley with pastels and watercolour but didn’t get that high contrast that the ink gives. Lovely 😊
Thanks Claire, it’s a nice technique to experiment with
Love your DIY dip-pen idea! I’m gonna have to give that a try myself. Thanks!
