    "Does it even need to be done again?" No, it doesn't. If they do a new show, it should be about a new Slayer or something along those lines. Expand that world. Buffy's story had been told. Keep it going.

    Buffy the Vampire Slayer is my favorite show of all time. Perfectly casted, amazingly written and I mean college courses across the globe are devoted to the show. It's just a work of art IMO. I don't think they could reboot it and have it be even nearly as good.. I especially can't see anyone else taking Sarah's place as Buffy. I guess I am biased because I'm such a fan of the original tv series but I feel that it should be left alone.

    • @n.leewynn5084
      @n.leewynn5084 5 лет назад +59

      She's absolutely right that they don't need to reboot it, because new viewers are still coming to it. The only reboot that would make sense is to pick up years later in a world they created with multiple slayers, and follow a new slayer. We do not need a new Buffy.

    • @JakkFrost1
      @JakkFrost1 5 лет назад +6

      @@n.leewynn5084 ~ Or set it in the semi-far future, where we find out that by activating all the potential slayers. none were left to be tapped after the last of them died. We have a little backstory where the existing Slayer Prime (Buffy) vanished one day without a trace, and then we find out it's because the Watcher's council cast a spell to bring Buffy to the future, where things are getting bad again, after a long time with no monster activity.
      This Buffy is older, meaning she could be played by SMG again, and she's weary from the long fight (like the Buffy from "Doppelgangland"), but she takes up the mantle again, only to get killed after 1 or 2 episodes. But when this happens, the "slayer force" is reactivated with a big showy flash of light and power (something like the regeneration of Doctor Who), and a new Slayer is suddenly chosen.
      Meh, just something that occurred to me this minute. A bit trite and cliche maybe, but it could be refined.

    I love watching SMG interviews. She is so sweet and kind. I liked what she said about social media
    Buffy was the first show I ever watched (I was 10 years old I think) -> I don’t usually like « fantastic » shows I prefer them to be realistic. This didn’t bother me in Buffy. I feel like this show goes way beyond that. I still watch it today when I feel low or when I need a break from today’s shows. Buffy never gets old. I don’t really know if I am for a reboot. I am so afraid that it would not be as good as the original show (like Charmed) and kind of ruin the universe. I feel like Buffy is so good that it doesn’t need one or if it does it needs to be a new original way of doing it (like BH90210 -> so different that we can’t really compare the two but with the same general idea)

    "I think the way we ended, lends itself to it."
    She then says that she is still proud of the show that was made and that it still gets new viewers, and people find new meanings and lessons in it.

      If they're doing something with the original cast, they should do something animated and bring the original cast in for the voice work.

      I've long thought that if BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER were ever "rebooted" (or whichever term you'd prefer to use), it should be done in the same manner as STAR TREK, wherein the various incarnations exist autonomously yet can also come together. Time travel, of course, is always a possibility, as in the 2009 STAR TREK reboot where there were both a young and an old Mr. Spock. But another possibility could be that the 1992 incarnation of the character was the "wrong" Buffy (the Watchers made a mistake), but that she grew into her role so successfully that she's still as worthy of comparison to the Buffy of 1997 and onwards as Captain Kirk is to Captain Picard (or whoever is considered the "true" STAR TREK captain nowadays). A "legacy" movie in which SMG meets both Kristy Swanson and a younger counterpart to both of them would be great to see, but it will probably never happen now because (among other things) Swanson seems to have permanently retreated from Hollywood by this point, and it would be tough to replace her. It could still be done with a Swanson lookalike, but I imagine that confusing fans both young and old who would be scratching their heads wondering, "Who is this 'new' Buffy?"

    I love Sarah Michelle Gellar. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was my first introduction to her after my Mimosa (Mother) kept telling me how much better the series was than the movie, which to me was blasphemous at the time but when I finally sat down & watched it, I realized that the show isn’t a reboot of the movie but a continuation because it takes place after she relocates to Sunnydale from her previous school. Since at the end of the BtVS series, a ritual done by Willow with the Slayer Scythe is done so that every potential girl will suddenly have all the Slayer powers, that’s a great place to start a series. Then, it can be about multiple Slayers & each time, we can learn about different females coming into their powers & how they use them for good or evil.
    I know the comic books continued along that vine but I would love to see that storyline as a series since Hollywood won’t leave a masterpiece alone. But if they want it to have even a little bit of success, not only do they have to acknowledge Buffy but they have to make sure that they don’t forget to have her make a guest appearance at the end of the series finale. That’s crucial. And of course, if they’re showing the potentials get their powers, they need to show flashes of the previous Slayers & how they know they’re all linked. That was something that I feel the comic books explained better than the movie or series ever did.

    Please to god don't reboot Buffy. That show was amazing, and is the true embodiment of a strong female character. Unlike all this crap today. We all saw how truly horrible the reboot to Charmed was, please don't ruin Buffy. Just come up with new idea's and turn them into trash shows.

    SMG didn't let Hollywood chew her up and spit her out like so many starlets: she made her name, did what she wanted to and then followed her own priorities before coming back on her own terms.

    THANK YOU
    We dont need the old characters for this story to have meaning. Sarah said it herself: "There are more than one ways to tell this story. The way we ended the show lends to that."
    Meaning Buffy can run around in off-screen-ville until the time is right for her to come back for a bit, however, it's time for a new vampire slayer. There IS more than one now. Just my two cents on the matter

  • @AngelLoveQuinnx

    It’s not a reboot of Buffy but just a telling of a new slayer? So it’s not “replacing” Sarah’s Buffy at all actually.

    I watched Buffy for the first time five years ago, and i think it has aged really well! Scalp-stabbing headbands from the late nineties and other dated fashion trends notwithstanding..... Except maybe making Tara and Willow’s romance more explicit I don’t really see anything they could do to “modernize” it in more than just in a shallow sense. (And, yeah, having Willow call herself bi could be another one-but it’s just a term. Still kinda superficial to me. What’s more important was that people accepted Willow just loving whoever.)
    And even with that, I thought her falling in love with Tara worked pretty well because it was kind of like we were in Willow’s brain, and her realization that she was attracted to a woman just slowly kinda manifested itself: she is a pretty cerebral person, so showing her romance in a less sensual way felt right for who she was.
