Kingdom Rush Origins is a 2014 tower defense game developed by Ironhide Game Studio. The third stages of the Kingdom Rush franchise. In the game, players assume command of an elven nation and work to protect it from their evil enemies. Four different kinds of defensive towers can be used to take down monsters; these towers can all be upgraded to better withstand coming waves of adversaries. In addition to towers, the player controls a formidable "hero" character that can be used to battle strong enemies and move to any location on the path. Heroes can be warriors who are more adept at engaging in close quarters combat or ranged attackers who use a ranged weapon. The player can select which hero they wish to use or upgrade, and each hero has five distinct abilities that can be upgraded with money earned from finishing levels.
