- The Super Mario Bros. Movie released its official trailer coming from Nintendo and Illumination. During the new Mario Movie trailer, we see Bowser capturing Luigi, Mario & Luigi in Brooklyn, Mario fighting Donkey Kong, a new Princess Peach, and so much more!
The Super Mario Bros. Movie looks better than most people expected. It celebrates the source material of the Mushroom Kingdom, while still telling a unique story for the big screen. Nintendo and Illumination have spent years perfecting the formula, ultimately hoping to be the new king of video game movies. Could The Super Mario Bros. Movie end up being better than Detective Pikachu or Sonic The Hedgehog?

Mario shows that you can make video game movies that follow the games without feeling like a more expensive version of a RUclips gametrough and Sonic shows that you can create an original story with an already existing franchise while utilizing the aspects that made people love the franchise.

@@valentinkambushev4968 exactlyyyyyy they're both completely different ways in utilizing their IPs and how they are using their IPs is WORKING for that particular story. Sonic is taking the slow build approach, making movie!Sonic feel like almost a wholly original character even though obviously he isn't. And the payoff to the all out Sonic v Shadow sht fight is going to be WORTH IIIIIIIIIIT.

The more we see of this film the BETTER it looks! Yoshis, a showdown with DK, Peach playing a hero role, Mario having to learn the ins and outs of the kingdom, Bowser aiming to take over the world with his overwhelming power and army... IT'S MAGNIFICENT!!! I know the #1 movie I'll be looking forward to next year already, CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!!!

I'm liking the fact that this doesn't seem to just be a story vaguely inspired by the Mario universe, but actually directly incorporating aspects of games from Smash Bros to Mario Kart.

Even Mario’s forward aerial is similar.
It's like my childhood is being visualized into a big, freaking gem! It's way past my expecations! The trailer was so damn insane and all! And the cast works surprisingly well for the characters. Like who would've thought that Jack Black could make an intimidating vocal performance as Bowser? So excited to see it when it comes out!

I do think Chris's voice fits well mario as how he looks in the movie and, thinking if Mario were a real person, I feel he would sound close to his voice! Only problem, though, is the effort he seemed to give to the first trailer, while having a better acting at the second one

Oh yeah absolutely. The animation, musical score, stunning visuals, cinematography, well written characters, faithful and references to the spirit of the whole franchise and vocal performances are what make me excited to see this global phenomenon.

I'm feeling hyped for the movie after these trailers. Luigi has a good voice, Peach has a good voice, Bowser has a really good voice, and even Mario's voice is sounding better and easier to get used to in this trailer. Plus, the animation is amazing. The movie might or might not live up to the hype, but I hope it does. It's certainly looking a lot more promising from these trailers than I expected it to look.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie production has been seven years of planning and six years of production. Nintendo + Illumination are really trying to sell this movie. This will all be worth it in the end once it comes out in April 2023
Mario "not sounding like Mario but a random guy" applies to ALL characters except Bowser so far, so it's not a Chris Pratt problem (or a problem in general, they fit just fine without doing any videogame voice impressions)
It’s just that we’ve gotten so used to hearing these character’s original voices from the games, so it takes some time getting used to hearing the voices of all these Hollywood actors coming out of them instead.
I don't mind a new portrayal of Mario. I just wish the new portrayal was as cheerful as the other ones. Charlie Day still carries out that frantic and nervous personality of Luigi and Anya-Taylor Joy fits the cartoon and old paper iterations of Peach.

Mario is practically as iconic as Mickey Mouse is in terms of popularity meaning this film is a guaranteed billion dollar success despite people being mixed on Chris Pratt, why would anyone wanna hear the Italian accents for an hour long Movie when Charlse Martinet HIMSELF APPROVES of Pratt & in his 70's as well?? I'm glad they went with Movie actors than the Videogame ones, the Mario's rarely talk in the game's so I don't get why people get worked up over Mario's iconic voice when he rarely talks lmao
These talented Animators deserves more Money because they perfectly adapt the classic Mario Games into Movie form much like what Sega and Paramount did for Sonic.

I'm so hyped up
I loved this trailer so much. I love the fact that they managed to pay homage to some of the spin-offs and sub series like the DKC series, the Yoshi's Island series, and the Mario Kart series, and the confrontation between Bowser and Luigi was just perfect lol
The highlight for me was how Peach was portrayed in the trailer. Peach is one of my absolute favorite Mario characters, and to see her actively taking a stand against Bowser, carrying that huge battle axe while in her biker suit, and joining Mario and Toad was amazing. This version of Peach feels like a mix between her appearance in the DiC Cartoons and the Super Mario Adventures comics, and I'm all for it! ☺💕
I’ve been loving everything so far from the animation and voices, and am super hyped! Tbh I think Chris Pratt is actually gonna do a pretty good job on showing a different perspective on Mario, and everyone else’s voices are perfect!👍

Honestly I was a bit skeptical too about Pratt voicing Mario, but after a while, I realized that they were trying to give each character a different perspective and more personality then the games could show. Plus, imagine hearing the high pitched Italian accent the whole movie. It lacks the personality needed for a movie on the big screen and for a lot of people it’ll be quite irritating, and for those who aren’t familiar with Mario. He’s gonna do great! Plus Jack Black, Charlie, Anya, And Keegan nailed their character so perfectly! 👍

Chris Pratt is just acting as himself with a slight accent, that sound like the "My cousin from Boston" guys second cousin removed. Just saying, could have casted a better voice actor for the role.

Mario sounding “just like another guy” is honestly perfect, because that’s what Mario is, just a plumber. Even after he became officially the hero of the mushroom kingdom in the games that never changed that Mario is just a guy at the end of the day.

In every detail there's so much love and care, and hope this can put Illumination as a great and respected animation studio.
To be fair though, the Despicable Me films, the first Pets and both Sing movies were quite good. My favorite one they've done is probably Sing 2. Was genuinely surprised at how deep it was.
The animation looks so good that it doesn’t feel like that’s from Illumination. It looks something made by Dreamworks or Disney. That just shows how Illumination is actually capable of making visually great animated movies if they start to risk. Sony Pictures Animation did that with Spider-Verse and it was perfect.
This movie will be so fun! YAHOOO! Here we go!
I hope they make this a trilogy while featuring different antagonists from different Mario games,most notably Fawful and Dimentio
Im excited for next year! So many great movies and this is so awesome! The animation, lighting, shading, the story, everything looks so good! Glad theyre actually going to work hard on this movie and actually make it a movie instead of a cashgrab. Really like how Princess Peach is not just some helpless princess.
I have mixed feelings about chris pratt mario but they are mostly good, but something is clear; chris makes a brooklin accent, and that is where the movie will start, AND it might just be a part of mario's story; maybe his accent changed during the years in the mushroom kingdom. Chris is getting hate for things that are a part of the story. Also hear the things he does in the mariokart scene, it sounds almost like regular mario; his voice IS going to evolve through the film.
Chris Pratt or no Chris Pratt. You can still hear the effort put into his Mario accent. I like it👌
Being honest, I think Chris Pratt as Mario is not bad at all, at least the trailer that came now is better than the previous one because it looks like Chris gave emotion

I'm glad Peach isn't going to be a damsel in distress here. Not only does it make the movie unique, but she's already had some roles as a playable character before (Mario 3D world, Mario Bros 2, the old mario comics, and even the old cartoons.)
I’m going to keep my expectations in check for this movie, it has very good signs that it will be amazing, but it’s best to not be overhyped only to be disappointed
I'm thinking its gonna be Mario meets peach Mario and peach+ toad go on adventure they fall in love then somewhere down the road the third act conflict is Mario having to face bowser however he is just a plumber then Mario comes in later and defeats bowse4

I fully agree. Video game movies should NEVER just be an easy cashgrab, they need love and hard work and deep-cut references to the games. If movies like Sonic 2 and Super Mario keep coming out awesomely, then we could have a Nintendo Cinematic Universe on our hands.
I love how Peach is finally standing up to Bowser rather than being a shallow and helpless damsel in distress like the other Mario games. We finally see the needed character development in all of the characters. This will probably be the best animated movie of the next year! Disney needs to up their game!

I haven't been this excited for a movie in a VERY long time. As a fan of Mario since practically birth I am so ready for this!
Yeah, I absolutely love how Peach isn’t written as a typical damsel in distress, like she is in the video games!
Interesting that Peach plays the role of someone knowledgeable about the rules of the world,
while Mario is a fish out of water. So basically she's a mentor to Mario in the beginning, cool.
I think around the middle of the movie it would be cool if Peach is kidnapped, leaving Mario to
use everything he learned to go save the day with his brother.
To be honest, i don't mind about the voice actor for mario (Chris Patt) or Mario's voice in the movie, i actually love all of the voices, and i just can't wait for this movie to come out!

I'm willing to see how the Mario voice plays out. Yeah it's not the iconic Mario voice but this is a lore riched movie from what we've seen so far, especially with Mario and Luigi originally being from Brooklyn, based on the old original games. The thing that would make this pay off so well is Mario transitioning his voice to the more classic voice during the course of the story. It would be really cool, because when you think about it, landing in a completely different universe with a wildly different nature, Mario learning from his new friends and getting used to this wildly different life could change him, his personality, and his accent can naturally develop to become more jolly like the classic voice. If that's what they're going for, I'd absolutely love it. It would be one of the best ways to make a simple video game franchise into a special movie.

Watching the trailer already proves that it’s greatest movie of all time. I’m now Super exited for this movie, they really did a great job with donkey Kong’s 3d cgi designing. At first I know Charles martinet would have become great as Mario if chris Pratt wasn’t in it.

I remember years before this was announced, I had a dream of a live action Mario movie trailer and the bit I remember most is a fight against bowser on a platform where he is blasting fire balls at a 10-ish year old wearing overalls and a red shirt. Iwas then inspired to flesh out this story. This became my idea of what the Mario movie might be like until now. I actually see a few similarities to this story even though the concept is completely different. Nearly forgot about this memory.

Everyone is talking about chris Pratt is voicing Mario but can we agree that Mario design looks really really good and the fact this movie is being made by illumination I love how he looks and to see some badass moments when he gets experience in the mushroom kingdom I kinda imagining Mario upper punching donkey Kong throwing out his move from super smash bros lol.
Listen if they instead kept the regular mostly quiet protagonists for Mario. Then 90 minutes of pure “wahoo!, let’s a go!,” and all of those other grunts that he makes in the games, that would be enough to drive a man insane. So I’m glad Chris Pratt is here to voice him.

I love how there’s sections of Mario Kart and seemingly Smash Bros as well (the DK fight at the beginning). It seems like it’s going to be a mashup of lots of Mario games as opposed to just the typical Super Mario Bros movie-ization we kind of expected
Mario walking into the coliseum reminded me of 2000's "Gladiator".

I'm just hyped about the karts and Yoshi being in this! I love this movie already! We got power-ups! and instead of the typical "Oh no! the princess has been captured! Gotta go save her freaking mushrooms again" Instead they turned it into a POWERFUL story where Peach doesn't get IMEDIENTLY captured! She instead joins the battle! I know people are kinda bumped about Chris Pratt but I have faith. He did good as Emmet, Lightning McQueen, and Remy, and even in Minecraft story mode did good!

Now all we need make this even better is to make a Movie Sonic/Mario crossover movie.
My theory is that Luigi will get his own B plot where he escapes and tries to reunite with Mario, all while facing his fears of the bizarre monsters of the Mario world.

The animation is amazing, the character designs are nice, the throwbacks and call backs to the history of Mario is awesome, and the voice actors, not what I was expecting but also great.
It's just Chris Pratt as Mario that I'm still not sure and slightly mad about, I wish Charles Martinet was the voice, since he's a voice actor to. I'm sure he could've done a more grounded voice for Mario, maybe someone can do an edit with his voice in place of Chris's.
Overall, I'm excited and nervous for this movie, and you can bet everything you got I'm gonna see it!
I would love it if they did a marvel, and showed after the credits, a plane ticket to the bean-bean kingdom, a free trip to (that island from Mario sunshine), or maybe a silhouette of a certain purple alien spaceship with that iconic “flying noise”.
