I store in plastic containers, I use flour sack towels in between layers, pack loosely, add a dryer sheet, store only clean clothes, shoes always wiped down before putting in shoe container, toes stuffed with tissue paper, basement heated, dehumidifier in summer-have stored this way for years, no issues. Label everything.
You're becoming my favourite fashion youtuber 😍 And I really appreciate having Aussie youtubers to get advice from, keep up the awesome work and I hope your channels continues to grow!
I have been looking for some one new on youtube that i could vibe with. The first thing i look for is how the person sounds.. i can vibe with you. Great video
Do you fold or hang your winter clothes when off-season? The general idea is that folding usually saves more space, and I agree and enjoy folding my lightweight clothes but I'm not sure if that logic applies to winter clothes. It seems like there's only so much you can do to fold them into compact pieces.
Plastic is fine if it's well sealed and everything is 100% dry in the box. I would even go a step further and put some moisture absorbers in the boxes. Cotton is breathable, therefore, if it gets really humid where you store your clothing, the cotton is less likley to cause mildew and mould build up. 😊
@@AlarnaHope I see, so the logics is either completely seal and put the clothes very dry in a plastic one, or put it in the cotton box which is very breatheable so doesnt have to be sealed extremely since the air goes in and out anyways?:)
Hi Alarna, thanks for this video. Could you please recommend a supplier of cotton storage boxes who makes them available in various dimensions? Thanks, Bob
Bob Meade Hello! ☺️ Yes, Adair’s carry a brand called Mercer and Reid that make them in three sizes. At times, Muji carry cotton/linen zip up clothes boxes too.
Thanks for this video. Very informative. I did cardboard box mistake. As you said, moisture sunk in and my woolen clothes got molded smell. Can you give me some insight of how to recover them.
Oh no! If you watch my how-to clean wool video, do a pre-wash with a small tub of water and a cup of white vinegar. The vinegar will help kill the mold and the smell. Then hand wash like I show in the video and let it dry flat in a sunny spot. That should hopefully help to bring them back to life! 🤗
Do you have recommendations for packing and storing to ship overseas? I’m moving from the US and I’m exploring packing and delayed shipping as an option.
I hope you found this week's video helpful for storing away your seasonal items! What else do you want to see on this channel?
Medieval flute music! Lol just kidding.
P Larsen it was tough to film amongst it! 😂
Omg the neighbor learning medieval flute 🥹🥹🥹 how cool!
So glad that you mentioned that clothes need to be clean before storing away. I think a lot of people forget that step.
I agree, and once an odour sets in a garment it can be so hard to get rid of it! 🌈
@@AlarnaHope definitely

Hey, I was wondering in what way cotton box is better than a plastic one if both allow the air and the humidity to go into the box? thank yoU!
