Nina should have gotten many awards for the way she was able to play Katherine and Elena and make them seem like 2 totally different people
100% I’ve been saying this for years. What Nina did for this show is priceless and very talent artist. Well written characters like this especially in live action are hard to come by.
I feel like she tries to pull from the character as most on a soap that ran this long do. But she should give in. Her characters encompass a huge and subtle ray of characters. She been playing basics.

Yeah, I also watched TV series called "Orphan Black", it's on netflix and the main actor Tatiana Maslany plays a lot of clones and she did it so well
And she also played Katherine pretending to be Elena and somehow did that perfectly so the viewer understands
It’s so crazy how different Elena and Katherine are. You stick them in a room together being themselves and you can tell who’s who just from their voices and mannerism. Even when Elena didn’t have her humanity you can tell she was Elena and not Katherine at all. Nina left no crumbs in the acting scene.

the fact she NEVER turned her humanity off during everything she went through just proves how strong she is, plus I love Nina, she's so talented, she played 2 characters, made them BOTH sound different, act different, as if it's another person, genuine talent

Katherine is literally so smart! The scene where she linked her and Elena was really just wise, I mean obviously not good for Elena but her role is just hands down amazing.
Katherine’s obsession with Stefan is what got her caught and killed. She just couldn’t let him go, for love or for revenge.
It’s weird how Katherine has better chemistry with Stefan than Elena does since their both played by the same actress lol
Say what you will about The Vampire Diaries, the acting was incredible...they didn't have to go so hard in 2009. Also the lore was fantastic; daylight rings, compulsion, humanity switch, doppelgangers, original bloodlines, hybrids...it's probably my favourite depiction of vampires.

Foreal I’m rewatching the series and I would even go ahead and say how far ahead they really were in all this like I just really love how it was written out. Except some cringe ass lines but for the most part they had badass moments

elena doesn't make things about her, the show does lmao. she's litteraly the main character and a lot of plot points are written with her character in mind so it's often like "oh we gotta save elena" but in a lot of occasions, she is willing to sacrifice herself for her friends. people forget that for some reason.

On top of that Katherine destroyed the both of them yet this person says they love Katherine. Caroline gets no hate for falling for Klaus who was worse than Damon in every way

Katherine deserved a way better end compared to what the creators or the writer gave her.
Turned her from a strong, resilient and intelligent girl trying to survive persecution to a jealous, obsessive universal evil.
Its pitiful what they did to what could have been an amazing character all throughout the very end. She is still my favorite though, despite all of this.

But I think it was better the way Katherine did it.

That's what I like about Katherine. Most of the time, she only thinks of the here and now. Elena thinks too much about the past.

That's just her way.
She doesn't let anyone touch her and puts this barrier in front of her so that no one sees the little girl in her still grieving for her parents etc.
But she has a heart deep inside. For example, she loved her daughter, which proves once again that she is not completely cold, but also has a bit of love in her.
