I think there is an aspect that is overlooked in the story and has a reading that is pretty carnal about the serpent. The serpent is not as intelligent as he may look. He just speaks out of proximity with Chavah. If Chavah wasn't listening to the snake, the snake wouldn't have the power to tell her what to do, and Adam wouldn't blindly obey. The serpent is just so powerful as it is below the feet of Adam and Chavah, because for the serpent to get away so that it doesn't affect Adam and Eve, it's the ground that needs to disappear and there wouldn't be for Chavah and Adam a ground to stand on.

Lots of good questions here. Lots to be needed answers! As I see it Gan Eden was a protected bubble on the world. You may say that the Bible speaks of different dimensions. We have the place where G'd is, Heaven, Gan Eden, a second world where A&Eve were needed, the world under the seas, underworld aka darkness. I do believe when speaking of dimensions they are not stacked above each other or side by side but rather they touch each other like soapy bubbles in a tub. In this case most bubbles seem not connected due to they are far apart but they actually do. They are in the same Creation. Can pictures this? Good. G'd is on the outside of this Creation. He (this power)(He is not a men shape like in Greek mythology!) is 'watching' us from out there.

The mere fact that Hashem even gave her that dichotomy was the transferring of consciousness that she would need in order to decipher the riddle so to speak, and to also get the job done. Just by introducing into a perfect world two opposing forces, the job was already complete.

The Hebrew text uses the verb נָשָׁא to say that the serpent deceived Eve and then Adam. But it can also be the verb נָשָׂא (nasa') which means to grow and in the factive tense which is the one of the Hebrew text : to make grow, to exalt. And this is the intention of the text. It would be better to translate it as exalt or, if we wish to retain both meanings: the serpent deceived me by exalting me. It is indeed an external, centrifugal force, comparable to the one trying to separate Job from God. (even if demonogy is more recent in the biblical text). We can't say enough about the extent to which exaltation is at the root of idolatry.
The serpent's strategy (and his power !) is to eclipse God's presence (Where are you, asks God to Adam). If we don't take into account this power to eclipse God (as if evil could broadcast on the same radio frequency as God !), then the story is indeed disconcerting and even nonsensical.
Then the serpent addresses (almost exites) the desires of human nature, in the face of which the will proves to be weak (The commandment represented all the other commandments).
    So why the serpent ?
Why Isaiah 45:7 makes God say: I have created evil ( וּבוֹרֵא רָע)
The serpent was created to teach man and woman not to listen to the desires of (exalt) their human nature and to remain in the presence of God (Psalm 37:4-6).
This is why, in the lives of those he called (Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, etc.) God often had to put to death all their human exaltation and pretension before starting to use them.
This is why God says that he resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble (Ps 25,9; Job 22, 29; Is 57,15 )
This is why it is said that fear is the beginning of wisdom...
The biblical character who best refused to be exalted is the suffering servant of Isaiah 53, whose humiliation is said to have been the occasion of the salvation of many.
IIt is written that God brought upon himself the iniquities of many (Es 53,6), and that he interceded for the guilty (53, 12). Now, the translations "bring upon" and "intercede", are both translations of the same Hebrew verb: פָּגַע (paga'). That means that the two moments are one.
Why did God bring evil down on him? So that he would intercede and make the evil disappear.
    Why did God create evil?
So that, if we can't avoid it or even oppose it, we can intercede with Him.
It's also a way for God to be our only God.

  • @confusedbugger
    @confusedbugger 4 месяца назад

I want to correct the Rabbi: eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil would not have led to death, man was already created to die. Genesis 3:22 confirms this when God says, "Can you imagine if they also ate from the tree of immortality?" It seems the knowledge of good and evil is a divine trait, and that is why we weren't meant to have it.
As far as "was the serpent evil," certainly the serpent tempted Eve, but also afterward, God curses the snake so that his offspring will never have arms and legs and will always have to slither on the Earth. So, it's a little unclear if this is an opportunity to justify why snakes don't have arms and legs. A lot of this story is to explain "why things are this way." The expulsion from the garden is WHY we have to farm. Eve's disobedience is WHY childbirth is painful.

Good questions! He (this power) is 'watching' us from out there.

this reading of Adam and Eve is inspiring... it is very thoughtful: Eve is the one who understands the U... Adam is intellectually seduced by Eve. She wants to come down to do the work in the worst of all possible worlds...God drops the challenge...it's Eve who takes the challenge, it's HER. Evil belongs to the same challenge. Eve was wiser than Adam.
Then the man treats Magdalena as a whore, Eva as a pervert... he leaves the women without references; without the full freedom of women and their potential, the worst possible world will remain corrupted.
My reading of it is that the U wants to be reflected, it will project life what is it?

The opposition in this world, play out, and it did in that garden, Satan spoke through a snake, and worked on Eve's intellect, and she wanted more intelligence and to live forever like the Father, and I think ADam knew if he didn't partake, he'd be alone again in the garden. This was a transgression and we are not under condemnation because of their choice. IF not for them, we wouldn't be able to come here, obtain a body and go through this mortal life and make many choices that can lead us back to that Heavenly home. They were as little children and didn't understand their own sexuality, we read, their eyes were not yet opened. So the Father already knew that they would disobey and had a plan from the beginning in place, and they had to leave that garden, and then mankind starts and is tested here, we have joys and sorrows. And Adam and Eve did not know joy and sorrow because in that garden it was perfect, so they did not understand those concepts. The only completely finished teachings of these things that are misunderstood in our Christian bible is taught in the LDS church, it is Christ's church and was restored for the last days, and I've observed it for the last 50 years as a 21 year old I was baptized. It was the Book of Mormon that I read out of curiosity and then resisted being baptized as I was afraid I would have to live a rigid life, but what I found was joy and a culture that was perfect. God did Not create evil, he did not create Satan to be evil nor that 1/3. They were all with us, in that home, and we read that 1/3 of the host of heaven rebelled, they went along with Lucifer's plan, his name changes after he comes here and lies to Eve. In that home we were nurtured until were ready to take on a body, a body like our Father and Mother had, everything here is patterned after that life. When Lucifer who was an intellect obviously heard the plan that was presented of coming here, and that possible some would not return home because of choices, agency, he had another plan and said, my plan will make it so that we all return, and the Father rejected it, and this angered Lucifer and 1/3 of Father's children were also on Lucifer's side, they were forced out. And so they do walk this earth as we read, to and fro. And their presence is very strong here in the last days, they've had thousands of years to observe us. And they are jealous of us because we have bodies, and and they can never have a body. They are in governments and in many places. We all have a still small voice and can choose right from wrong, and so some things ring true, when we hear them. For me and millions, reading the book of Mormon and receiving a testimony given by the Holy Spirit, who is not the Father but a separate deity, that being can come into our own body and testify to us of truths, so that every fiber of your being knows certain eternal truths. And that's how one develops a testimony of this restored gospel, it is a marvelous joy that can't be compared to anything, it's peace that passes all understanding to know of things with no doubt. And it also angers people at times because the adversary does not want anyone to read this book. There's are endless stories of how it came about and about J. Smith, etc. But it's very simple and sophisticated and the same time, this profound book of scripture will change your life for the good if you do read it.

Good and evil are relative. Relative to culture.
    For those who take the time to actually read the Garden of Eden STORY, for its content and not for the propaganda we are spoon fed;
We quickly realize that Moses, if it is as he originally wrote, has the character God being the deceiver; misrepresenting one aspect of the Knowledge Tree, though knowing the other three.
The character Serpent, on the other hand, tells correctly all four elements.
    1. It is established early, that One Evening and One Morning IS ONE DAY
    2. The God claims, the day (evening and morning) you eat, you die.
    3. Serpent say no, the tree will not kill you
    4. Serpent says, your eyes will be opened
    5. Serpent says, you will become like the gods.....
    6. In knowing good and evil
After the eating, the hiding, and finding, the God admits to knowing all those FACTS AND TRUTHS the Serpent told the woman.
    ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE
In order to have free will, and to not be merely a programmed robot, there must be conflicting information about the same subject.
In this instance, the Knowledge Tree .
The two characters, god and serpent, are testing the new invention. Humans.
In the same manner humans test their robots
It gets really boring to have a mindless robot in your presence all the time.
Humans will begin programming "free will" into the robots who will then begin challenging "their creator".
The rest is history and prophesy ... One and the same.
