I disagree with our elders understood “mine” and stayed together. They stayed together because women didn’t work and had nothing. They couldn’t divorce.

Years ago, I was watching a tv show and they told us to close our eyes and see ourselves in front and walking toward us.
I closed my eyes, and I began to see myself walking toward me...I felt the most amazing love and my eyes were full of tears.
I was in chocked by this experience because my self esteem is not that great.

Even at the young age of 78 you're teaching me which makes me excited that I can accept where I need to improve. I'm a widow and this year my son and grandson moved in with me. I was married for fifty years but after 39 years I moved out and lived ten miles away from him. We remained good friends up until his death because I took my marriage vows seriously, until death do you part!

You are such a misleading rabbi. So confused. True love isn't any of this. "America worships love" sir, G_d is love. Your definition of love and what love really is are two different things. You are talking semantics. You are projecting. Not everyone has your definition of love. There are people that indeed know what love is.
What upsets you? That this Chabad Chassidic rabbi teaches what you don't agree with? Or that you can't control his teachings? It's called the off button, well within your control. For you it's necessary, not for us.
'Love' is an idol for too many. G-d praised be He is not only 'love'. To say that He is limits Him in a way that is inaccurate and not kosher.

I think the type of love he's talking about it romantic love, infatuation. That kind we were brainwashed as kids to believe through Disney movies and fairy tales. It's shallow, and fleeting.
That doesn't translate to real life.
Real love is GOD, and it starts with fully loving yourself.
The problem arises when people jump into relationships when they are damaged, have unhealed trauma, and believe that fairy tale "love" is going to fix everything.
Real love is unconditional, and thats what we should strive to become. The kingdom of heaven is within, it's starts with fully loving yourself, not thinking a partner can fix that within you

My Life experience taught me this .
I believe among the lessons we are here to learn .
Unconditional Love is one ..Learning also about good and evil and discernment .
If you define Love about an emotion or feeling , no relationship would last longer than 15 minutes .
But love must be a conscious decision , to take a journey in learning how to understand and appreciated Gods work in other people and learn how to accept them ..
And how to recognize destructive forces and put up boundaries , to avoid such .
But , Love is a decision that must be followed by a strong determined commitment .

My parents practiced “unconditional” love. (Ok they were weren’t perfect but they tried). Their love was occasionally what they called “tough love”. Didn’t feel much like love but they said if they didn’t discipline me, it would be a sign that they thought I wasn’t worth their time, energy or effort to correct because I was hopeless and therefore unworthy of love. Ugh! So a swat on the butt was sometimes preceded with, “We love you and we gotta make sure you understand there are consequences to bad actions…” I’m not really sure how my thoughts here relate to what you are saying in this video but for some reason it came to mind. What do you think about tough love? Is it love?
