    The flight scene music is especially amazing when you realize what's going on. Both Hiccup and Toothless are introduced with musical motifs, and in the flight scene, those two motifs play alternately until the point that Hiccup throws away the cheat sheet. At that point, they start playing together, and you realize they weren't two pieces of music, but two incomplete halves of the same piece of music.

    • @CoyzyMovieNight
      @CoyzyMovieNight  7 месяцев назад +1

      Wow I did not realise that but that is amazing! It's an incredible score even without that context but that pulling together of the motifs into one just encapsulates Hiccup & Toothless finding each other. Thanks so much for telling us that

    Most people dont see what a great leader Stoick was. He hated dragons for a GOOD reason. And he even regretted the things he said to Hiccup when he stepped outside the door. You can see how he just realized what he did.

      @CoyzyMovieNight  7 месяцев назад +10

      Stoick is such a great character. You aren’t sure for a lot of that movie whether he’s going to be overly harsh with hiccup or stubbornly hateful towards the dragons, but even when you’re not sure of him you can see he’s a great leader! Can’t wait to see how he develops in the next movie 😊

    This trilogy is amazing, all three movies are among my favorite movies of all time, regardless of genre, animated or not. And Astrid and Hiccup are a cute couple, one of the best movie couples I have ever seen. And I do have a soft spot for Gobber, he's very likeable. And the reason why Toothless shows them the way to the island, I think he's actually doing it on purpose, because he wants the vikings to get rid of that giant dragon, that's terrorizing the other dragons. Spitelout is Snotlout's dad, he's in the movie for like 2 seconds 😆

    • @CoyzyMovieNight

      @@CoyzyMovieNight When Stoic and his men were being attacked by the giant dragon he tells Spitelout to send the men to the far side of the island. Then Spitelout repeats the order to the men. That's one of the few lines he had. Another is when Stoic is in the big village meeting and says "those who stay could look after Hiccup". I think Spitelout says in response "I could get used to it...".

    • @tehdipstick
      @tehdipstick 7 месяцев назад +3

      Spitelout is also easily recognizable because he looks basically just like an adult version of Snotlout. You can see him standing next to Stoick near the end of the movie as well, when Stoick is gesturing at Hiccup, saying "To think, all we needed was a little more of this."

    The short version of what I’m trying to say:
    TL;DR: The first tv show in this franchise (Riders/Defenders Of Berk to Race To The Edge) as well as all the short films are really good and I would really like it if you would react to them or at least watch it on your own time if you’re not gonna react to it on camera. I would really like to see more creators reacting to this show.
    Edit: The tv series has some episodes where Spitelout (David Tennant) gets some/a good amount of screen time.
    The long version:
    This franchise has 3 movies and 3 different tv series’s as well as 2 Christmas themed short films, two non-Christmas short films and one short film that basically looks like a tv show episode. And while the two newer tv series’s are trash I would (depending on how much you enjoyed the movie/s) „highly“ recommend you to check all of the 5 seasons of the original tv series (Dragons: Riders Of Berk Season 1, Dragons: Defenders Of Berk Season 2 and Dragons: Race To The Edge Season 3 to 5 (RTTE has it’s own season count of season 1 to 6 since it’s much bigger than riders and defenders.)) as well as the short films preferably (for us) on RUclips and/or Patreön but if you don’t want to at least alone off cam because even though there isn’t that many people who watched the tv show after the movie/s it’s really good! Though my guess to why so many people never watched it is probably because they think it’s for children and for children only even though it’s for about the same audience as the movies.
    In my personal opinion I would rank Dragons: Race To The Edge at about the same height as the first movie if not even higher and then Defenders, then Riders, then the first Christmas short film, than the sequel and then the other short films and then the threequel. Though opinions may differ.
    Also RTTE really picks up after season 1 of RTTE.
    And Dragons: Rescue Riders is a kids show and Dragons: The Nine Realms is so bad that you can’t even tell who the intended audience is because unless you’re a braindead 4 year old you’ll probably stop watching after the first episode because of how poorly written, designed and animated everything is. I think almost everyone ranks Rescue Riders and 9 Realms at the bottom of their tier list.
    Though I personally would really REALLY like seeing more people reacting to at least D:RTTE if nothing else since there is so many reactions to the movies but so little reactions to the tv series. Of course each individual episode isn’t as high quality as the movies because obviously they needed to pump out more episodes in a shorter amount of time compared to the movies where they had more time to produce an over an hour long movie. But the story, plot, narrative, characters and music are all still really good in the tv series. Also Fishlegs, Sir Snotsalot and The Nuts are all relevant main characters in the series. You also learn how the All the vikings learn to integrate dragons into their society and how for example Hiccup gets is flight suit or his flame sword. The only thing that tanked more heavily is the quality of the visuals but it gets much better in RTTE and it’s never so bad you can’t watch it. It’s still really good. It’s just much much worse compared to the movies. The tv show has over 100 episodes that are all over 20 minutes long. Also the show has really good villains and they get better every time they introduce a new one. And the villains from the show are much much better than the ones in the movies.
    I probably will or already have reused this comment under other newer HTTYD reactions in hopes of getting someone to start a reaction series for the Dragons tv series wich is why I put so much effort into writing it. Also I don’t know how to make this comment shorter while still being able to make my point.
    I would enjoy you (or anyone) reacting to the tv series but if ya don’t then that’s your choice. I can’t blame you. I can only give it my best shot to convince you or anyone who’s reading this to give it a shot but if ya don’t then ya don’t it ain‘t the biggest deal in the whole world.

      WOW - Niamh here. Thank you sooo much for this comment. I have to say I have become super obsessed with the HTTYD movies (we have just filmed the second one) and so a tv show is something I would definitely be interested in watching! At the moment, for RUclips we are *mainly* focusing in on movies/ short tv shows, as it's just a little easier for us to manage with editing. But we would love to start a Patreon someday and that will open up much more opportunities to watch longer running shows (we hope). This has been added to that list for sure. Thank you again for watching and that great explanation - I would love to see more of the HTTYD world ❤️

    Really enjoyed this reaction! Glad you shared it. The whole trilogy of films is great, though the first one will always hold a special place in my heart. The music is SO good! All three are worth watching :)
    Unsolicited suggestions incoming (because I enjoyed your reaction, so I'm hoping you might react to more things I love.)
    If you enjoy the fantasy genre, dragons, etc, the recent "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" movie is genuinely good, and a lot of fun! No DnD knowledge necessary to enjoy it, but some fun easter eggs scattered throughout if you do play. Wonderfully shot, visually stunning, and really nails an almost 80's fantasy vibe (think Labyrinth etc, a lot of practical effects).
    In a similar vein, but back to animation, "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" is excellent, try not to look up too much beforehand, you don't want spoilers there. (you don't need to have seen any of the other Shrek or Puss in Boots films for this, they're barely even alluded to.)
    And finally if you want a short-ish animated series (2 x 12-episode seasons so far, with a third in the pipeline, but only 25 minutes an episode), the series "The Legend of Vox Machina" is really good. That one is definitely for grown-ups, lol. Animated in a Justice League sort of style, the story is based entirely on Critical Role's first DnD campaign, with the same people who played those characters at the table voicing them in the animated show. The whole voice cast is stacked, and David Tennant appears in that one, too! (It takes until episode 3 to really hit its stride, but I promise it's worth it).
    You didn't ask, but have a wall of text anyway.
    I hope you do the rest of the HTTYD films!
