As someone with mobility issues the one i thing love the most about the HTTYD movies is how both of the main characters have a disability and even though their disabilities are acknowledged, Hiccup or Toothless are shown to not let it define them and are shown to be just as capable as the able bodied in their community and they are treated as equals by the people of Berk. Plus they are not the only characters in the movies with disabilities.

13 years on and the themes still hold up. I have always loved that this movie encourages showing vulnerability, making different choices by listening to your gut, that there’s a benefit to learning more about the things we don’t know, and that we can embrace our differences. I also really appreciate the disability representation. One of my favorites. So glad you reacted and enjoyed it!

I LOVE that Hiccup loses his leg because we never see this type of consequence in movies and TV shows, unless it's used as a plot device (like Dr. Strange broking his hands in the accident for example). Also, I think it's pretty cool to show to kids who lost a limb that it's not the end of the world.

15:14 I think it's valid to call these shots. There are digital cameras in 3d space during animation and they were directed by an award winning cinematographer. This is my favorite sequence in the entire trilogy. The way the camera follows behind on their first dive, how it spirals around as they're falling, and that gut wrenching flyby on the recovery. It's so visceral and the music is just perfect. It's even cooler watching on a big screen in VR in 3D.

The soundtrack is probably my favorite part of the movie, aside from literally everything else. I find myself crying from time to time at the absolute beauty the music creates during scenes like Hiccups first flight with Toothless and they’re flight with Astrid. Nothing but absolute beauty in those scenes. I also like to fantasize how I’d act out those scenes just bc I think it’d be so fun to “film” lol I just love the peace and euphoria I get from those sequences

At the end, you said that that turned around real quick. Compared to the generations of fighting, yeah. But consider the healing and recovery time for an amputation, and how much longer before you can wear a prosthetic meant to bear weight, like a leg, and between the fight with the queen and waking up, that was probably a couple months unconscious for Hiccup. With modern medicine, it can take 8-11 weeks, on average (Based on light lookup online, don't roast me on this if I'm wrong). And considering that Hiccup, most likely, lost his leg from Toothless biting it so he could grab him before he fell too deep into the exploding dragon, it would not have been a clean cut, probably mangled and torn. He's, honestly, lucky beyond all belief, and plot armor, to have survived.
Having said that, great reaction. I loved you r cut that included a lot of my favorite lines that other s cut out. I'm glad you enjoyed it and hope you like others.

In addition to the 3 movies, there are also some short movies and tv shows that tie into the universe. I don't expect you to react to the tv shows (although it would be awesome if you did, nobody else does), since there's so much of it to watch, but they are good IMO.
    TV shows:
    - Dragons: Riders of Berk (set not long after the events of movie 1)
    - Dragons: Defenders of Berk (set directly after the end of Riders, pretty much season 2)
    - Dragons: Race to the Edge (set a few years after Riders and Defenders, and during the couple of years before movie 2)
    Short movies:
    - Gift of the Night Fury, Book of Dragons, and Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon (all set at some point after movie 1, either before or around the same time as Riders)
    - Dawn of the Dragon Racers (set before movie 2)
    - Homecoming (set during movie 3; can't say much more on it because, well, spoilers)
I recommend at least watching Gift of the Night Fury, the events of that short film are (briefly) referenced in the 3rd movie and it's just a great little film itself.

Answers to your questions/comments made in the video:
    - Hehe, it's funny that you say "Winter is coming" . . . listen out for a particular voice in the 2nd movie . . .
    - While unlikely, in case you do watch the tv series I won't say exactly why; but there is a reason they don't like eels besides just not liking the taste.
    - "A little salty, isn't he?" Yeah, that's a trend in this movie: don't wrong Hiccup, or you're going to have a Toothless upset with you. But if you apologise, he's like "Okay, we're cool again" XD
    - The reason their dragons became disoriented was that they were bashing their shields, not mind-control from the Queen (the Red Death). During their first lesson, they learned that some noises (such as them bashing their shields) can disorient dragons, which is why they were doing that next to the Red Death's head; they didn't take into consideration that it would also affect **their** dragons.
    - So the dragons do have a size limit; just like with dog breeds, different dragon breeds come in different sizes from other breeds. For example, Terrible Terrors (the tiny dragons) are the Chihuahuas of the dragon world and the Red Death is like a bigger breed of dog, like a Wolfhound or something. There are dragon breeds so large that they get mistaken for small hills. Each species of dragon has an upper size limit if they're lucky enough to live to that age, known as their Titan Wing stage; however, if Toothless reached his Titan Wing stage, for example, he still wouldn't be nearly as big as the Red Death. So if they gorged themselves like the queen did, they would just get . . . chunky, lol.
    - Names: You remembered Hiccup, Astrid, Stoick, and Toothless. The other teens are the twins - Ruffnut (girl) and Tuffnut (boy), Fishlegs (stats guy), and Snotlout (arrogant guy). And the blacksmith is Gobber.
    - As I mentioned in my other comment, I recommend at least watching the short movie "Gift of the Night Fury" in addition to the main trilogy, especially before you watch the 3rd movie. Its events are (briefly) referenced in the 3rd movie, and it's a good watch.

Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite animated movies, along with "Megamind." "Shrek" and "The Iron Giant" are also very good.

please please please watch the entire trilogy its one of the most well developed stories not just in animation but across all mediums of cinema. in addition, the soundtrack for each movie has so much emotion and character. very moving series and has a lot of heart :,)

It always makes me sad, that most people don't have one of my favorite lines of the movie in their reactions "Thank you for nothing, you useless reptile".

The team spent a lot of time studying aerodynamics and the mechanics of flight. You say the queen dragon shouldn’t have been able to fly. First, this is a movie with dragons. Second might I present the B-52, the C-130, and the Super Guppy (Areo Spacelines, Airbus SE)

Please cover the sequels at some point! Loved this movie when it came out. Has absolutely no relation to the books other than the names.

The biggest flaw of this franchise is they forgot the detail about loud noises messing with the dragons in the show and the movies.
