- Be sure to check out Dylan's Video of us getting this car out of the barn and making it run here: • BARN FIND 1968 CHARGER...
This time on Sally's Speed Shop we help out with a very special, all original 1968 Dodge Charger that is still in the hands of the man that bought it new from Music City Dodge. The one and only Dylan McCool reached out to me to help him bring this thing back to life after it sat untouched in a barn for over 15 years. Jonathan and his daughter Macy have been wanting to work together on a Dodge Charger for year's and luckily their Aunt Joyce happened to have her dad's old Charger that she drove in high school still squirreled away in the garage. After reaching out to Dylan the pieces fell into place and a plan was formed to bring the old girl back to life.
I want to give a huge thank you to Classic Industries, Coker Tire, Duplicolor, O'Reilly Auto Parts, and The Sweet Patina for all helping get this car back on the road for this great family. Their websites are linked below if you want to support great companies doing great things for car people.

What does it have for an engine?
A 318.
So, how many Hornets do you have now?
Why it only came with a 318, I’ll never know..
@@67dumptruck1 Well, sunshine, I hate to break it to you, but, there were even Chargers built with - wait for it - a SLANT 6! 😱Not everyone wanted or could afford a Hemi powered Charger.
Old girl looks so good with the sweet patina Sauce
This car deserves a full restoration.
hello my name is Angelo De Biasi and i am 59 and a half years old from Woodbridge, Ontario, Canada born in Toronto, Ontario but let me tell you you guys did a fantastic job on that 1968 blue Dodge, Charger i saw 2 videos of this car and i love everything you guys did to this car to bring it back alive. i also watch Dylan's videos on fixing those 1969 Dodge Chargers which are my favorite of the chargers and i do love the 1966,1967,1968,1969, and 1970 chargers they are the best American muscle cars ever built in my opinion i wish i was born in the U.S.A. because you guys make miracles come true for people who love classic cars and lots of guys in America are like you and Dylan going to scrap yards and rescueing chargers from being crushed i thank all of you nice guys to save our beautiful classic Chargers. you guys are the best i love you all for all the hard work you do to make peoples dreams come true. THANKS Dylan and all you other hardworking professional guys restoring all the classic cars.
Wonderful story
Gotta love Tennessee rain, it will beat the paint clean off, without removing any of the dirt
So very cool thanks u All ☺️ Lee
Tighten up the belts.
'Cudas, 2nd. Gen. Chargers, Challengers.....best Muscle Cars EVER, in that order.
Wish I had one!!!!
Awsome. Who does not like a car story like this one. I am 63 years old and my second car in 1979 was a Green 69 Charger R/T. I already owned a 1972 Hemi Orange Duster. The Charger was a 383 automatic. I put an Offenhauser 2X4 bbl intake with 2 Carter avs 4 bbl. I graduated High School in 1978 and let my brother drive my Charger to school the next year. As long as he took my girl friend and her sister to school and brought them home. He sure treated that Charger well. Kept it clean and drove it like it was his own. What a memory. Thanks and good luck with the 68 Charger.
I want... NO... I NEED this charger!!! love at 1st sight! ❤
Love how it looks with the Hub Caps
On the left hand lug studs, go to a parts store and get 10 right hand lug studs and swap them out. Then you have all right hand thread lugs.
Good Afternoon Gentlemen , it is great to see you again today and I hope you are doing well and having a fantastic day today 😊 !
i'd get rid of the vinyl on the top before it rusts out. sand it down and primer it at least. that thing is worth restoring.
The patina is just stunning on this 68 Charger love it
Cool car...I LOVE this car...nice job...well done...congratulations
The king of Tennessee pressure washing!@Dylan McCool
Great story on the revival of this car.
My Dad (car collector and Drag Strip racer) bought a new 68' Charger in triple green with the 383 4 bbl engine Auto PS PB no A/C. It's only problem was vapor locking in the summer months when it was hot. One of his cool cars out of many. Those times were the best for car choices and growing up with them! I'm glad this family held on to theirs and everyone is still alive to enjoy it. A proper restoration in this color combo with the center console automatic/buckets would be awesome. Th 318 was a great engine and much better on gas so it could be a daily driver once again.
Should have put the third wheel cover on. Patina being 55 years of lost paint, vinyl roof, and one wheel cover for one owner. Part of its history!
I was born in 1966
In 1968 I was 2 years old
Classic car is my 100 % favorite
Thanks for lending your truck and skills for the weekend! Couldn’t have done it without your help.
It was truly my pleasure man! I thoroughly enjoyed helping bring such a legendary car back to life for that wonderful family!
I was missing that truck today! Had a stripped out screw in the center console and went to the truck and did not have what I was looking for. Instead of looking in Larry's tool box I jumped on FB and started looking for a service truck. I can't thank you both enough for such a great weekend and all the knowledge you two shared with us... oh, and for getting the car running/driving again.
@@MaySeizeGarage haha that truck comes in super handy quite often! Legitimately the best thing I’ve ever built haha It was a true pleasure to help you guys out and get that thing going again and I’m excited to see what you do with it going forward!
I have always loved the Round Marker lights on the front and rear fenders!!!!!!!!!
That is my favorite car of all times. Its hard to believe in 1984 I trun 16 years old I worked at a Canoe rental. An the owner of the place owned a car lot. He had a 1968 Dodge Charger same as this one. But it was a green color with a 318 I bought it . Not to many people can say there first car was a 1968 Dodge Charger. I have always love the 68 over the 69 / 70. Always wish I could have one today. It would be a dream come true. That car is Beautiful. ❤
That is a fine car. Dang
I definitely say it looks better with hubcaps that's the way it came new that's the way it needs to be I'm sure you can find one of them hubcaps somewhere it's some junk yard if not I know there's a hub cap junkyard that has a lot of hubcaps at bernardston Auto salvage in bernardston Massachusetts but it definitely needs a hubcaps guys.
The ''Born again'' sticker tops it off.
Great job guys! But this car needs a paint job badly. Would love to see a video of you guys doing the interior, and giving it a new paint job.
Interior work is already started and will be coming out on our channel. Macy was just under the dash all this afternoon trying to figure out the heater core.
@@MaySeizeGarage Awesome. Looking forward to seeing it.
Born Again...what a great name for this gorgeous car.
We are looking to reproduce the sticker in the back window in case we ever have to swap it out.
the like buttons really help out as well yall so please hit that like, great video yall
Defiantly one of the coolest cars ever. Dream car for sure
One of the top five best looking cars ever including the 1968 Camaro, the 1970 Mustang GT, 68 through 72 Corvette and the Ford Gt 40
That 14yr old girl is one lucky kid!!! She knew that car was in that barn all along😂😂😂
Ahhhh over from Dylan's...8 yrs.......thats how it got so sunbaked!!!! Only if it was in the barn that whole time that would be mint inside or at least better.......rips wise!!!!!! But still incredible!!!!!!!
GOT SOME CLASS ALL CLEANED UP.
We older folks grew up with rusty cars we like to see fresh-looking paint we're not with the patina generation😢
Got that fire extinguisher, not your first rodeo. Need a small electric leaf blower to get stuff off and out, and to dry stuff. Macy is like a young Joyce. Great job of course, may the Good Lord keep you safe.
Always gotta have a good fire extinguisher! And that’s a good tip! 🙌🏼
Some soapy steel wool would bring those chrome bumpers back around as long as the rust is just surface stains. Y'all are living my automotive dream.
Yes sir! That's always a good move on old bumpers!
Dylan's gonna work his hardest to get that car, believe that!!
Other than saying he would love the chance to buy it if they ever do decide to sell, he never once said anything to Joyce or Larry about selling it to him. Joyce was surprised to see him saying it in the video. It made her and Larry so happy watching these videos and reliving that weekend. She says you boys are always welcome if ever this way again.
55 years is long time, what great custodians of a piece of history.
My DREAM car . . . 1968-1970 Charger ☺
My son was 10 when I had him work on my 70 Impala change the spark plugs. Today he is a mechanic.
That's awesome! Gotta start them young!
Sometime back in 1968, this car was spanking brand new right off the assembly line. So many years later, you guys bring it back to life.🥳 👍
Geez... grampa seemed to come alive compared to Dylan's video. You guys gave him some real joy 👍
It was amazing seeing him around the car at all, he completely changed when we was near that thing. It was amazing to watch!
Seeing the owners tear up is why I watch videos like this. Right. In. The. Feels.
All the feels! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful work. The human story around the car was great to see and hear.
I'd keep the exterior exactly as it is now....with one caveat, I'd redo the black vinyl roof.
That is the plan for now. Joyce and Larry want to see the car restored to factory or better, but fear the time it would take to really do it right. For now, make it run safe and dependable, and then try and see about a full restore.
Very nice . The Charger looks a whole lot better. The 68 was a great year for that Model. Thanks for sharing! ❤️💯
Biggest car mistake I've ever made is selling my 68 Charger. Miss that car everyday.
Mopar keys are not upside down, that is the correct orientation for locks, homes included. When dirt, water, pocket lint, etc. enter the lock, the tumbler pins are up so they stay clean (not to mention freeze!, up here in the North)! Nice story & work. BTW, I ran (& still rusting in the yard) A '73 K-30 with a '66 Highway service body, for construction for a few decades. Creeper 4 sp., ft. lockouts, & A 350- 30 over, 11/1 comp, 375+/-hp, was far too much fun, even at 9200# ! Nice work! Thanx !
That actually makes some sense! Thanks for the info! And wow, that sounds like quite a work rig!
Thanks for watching my friend!
It was fun, perhaps TOO much, except for MI salt, body went to heck! & Now it's just been sitting, waiting... Probably gonna become a soup can... Thanx !
Those rainbow 🌈 air fresheners smell wonderful I wish they still made em
What a Great Car!!! Long live Classic Car’s!!!
What a beautiful piece of history!
It's seriously a gem!
I love a patina car, but this old girl is so clean she deserves shiny paint and an interior retrim.
Beautiful car either way.
They're only original once. Once it's repainted its just another restored car with no soul.
This car definitley deserves new paint…..patina is for lazy broke people
@Trent Dawg I was just telling the wife basically the same thing. I get that paying me to make that car look better than new is expensive but it deserves it.
I was telling her that the patina thing was pushed because people can't afford to pay or don't know how to do it themselves. Which is fine but people pretend every car should just be "original"
Hint...they don't look like crap originally
It's pronounced "Sweet Pateener" good ole Puddin taught me that
Growing up in Ireland a teenager would have to sell their entire family to insure that car for a month, it blows my mind that teenagers in America could drive such a car, awesome.
That 68 charger is awesome the 68and 69swere my favorite years for the charger ❤❤❤ classic Mopar ats it's best
So envious of that car...
I used to sometimes run my roadrunner with no battery at all.Once you started it as long as you didn't run the accessories ,you could drive it on the alternator with no battery!
That Dr Pepper can is from the mid 90’s
That was an awesome revival collaboration video 👍 You need to collab with Dylan more often. How about a collab where you help him put together an old Dodge Service Truck so he can take it to revivals that are in the woods. Vehicles that he needs to get running & driving before he can put them on the trailer to take them home or give them back to the owner. That way he'll have all his tools in the Service Truck instead of carrying around the toolbox & other stuff he has in the back of his pickup that always slides around. If he has service truck that wouldn't happen. He could have an air compressor on board instead of carrying around a tank that has limited air. He could have a welder, I've even seen them with cranes for lifting engines. He could even have a generator for powering lights if it gets dark. I think it would be awesome if you guys could find an old Dodge Pickup Service Truck put a Hellcat motor in it & set it all up so he can take it on the road. It'll probably be a multi-part series, & that will be even better. More content for the both of you. That would be a McCool Sally's Speed Shop build. Maybe even invite Kevin down from Junkyard Digs he's a hoot you guys will definitely have a blast. Or maybe even Derek. You might not get anything done if you invite Derek LOL All four of you together now that's a party. Just like that one night at power tour. When you guys were rebuilding the engine in the hotel room. Everyone was drunk & they all were like shh shh don't make too much noise we don't to get reported for a noise complaint. Meanwhile everybody's banging using power tools. Then someone took one of the luggage dollies to use for engine & they brought it through the damn lobby.😂 How were they not going to notice an engine for a car going thru the lobby 😂 & the oil on the luggage dolly LOL. The was a blast watching that 😂😅 Your friend Eric
The brushes on those old Mopar alternators are external on the back and easy to change. I guarantee.
I had a 72 Roadrunner with a 440 when in high school. My friend had a 68 charger with a 318 in it. We agreed to a challenge on the highway. He said 1/4-mile I said 1 mile. So we agreed to both in one run. He blew my doors off in the first 1/4 but I waived by-by to him thereafter hitting nearly 160 mph. We met up afterwards about 5-miles down the road at a Dunkin' Donuts and laughed it off. Memories of muscle cars are "FOREVER!" - jfm
Blue and rust is beautiful.
" My Home " ? , Gotta love Dylan , And you two work well together !
Both of you guys did an awesome job on this charger. I was stationed at the National Guard in Galatin,TN in 1996.
Patina looks good on some old trucks. This car needs a beautiful paint job .
What an amazing story. She wanted a Charger and her aunt just happened to have one in the barn! Amazing.
It`s very good job👍
From Russia with love)
What a cool collab - love to see you guys get plugged in with Junkerup Chris Birdsong or Graveyard Carz!
Thank you Wayne! I'm not an expert Mopar guy, but would love to collab with anyone that does cool car stuff!
Just added you.. looks sweet too. What a beautiful ride
Hub caps and white walls look so good
I honestly expected the gas cap to need some scrubbing or at least some detergeant but it blasted clean immediately. Nice!
The lord works in mysterious ways. God Bless you guys.
The 68 is looking like it's ready for it's first Derby!
I didn't know Ricky Stenhouse Jr. worked on classics besides driving race cars !
Nothing beats an old car with a great story.
Couldn’t agree more!
Heh, we still have a few of those K-mart cassette tapes floating around...
Good song at the beginning during the start of the pressure washing
Thanks! That’s by a guy named Josh Shaw. I’ve always liked it
@@SallysSpeedShop what a great song
You Dylan and Macy made a great team on Dylans channel working on this. I think a channel with the three of you and her dad working together on old vehicles would really take off. You each have a set of skills and Macy being the one wanting to learn, you'd have a Niche channel for sure.
If May Sieze Garage has an opportunity to hang out and work on an old car with Dylan and Jacob again, we ABSOLUTELY will take it!
It was great having Macy and her dad help us with the car, and Dylan is a true pleasure to work with! Seriously one of the best weekends working on a car I’ve ever had!
@@SallysSpeedShop Maybe one of you needs an apprentice. 👍
You took the words right out of my mouth. Having that kid on your team with on the job learning would give it unique angle, and new audience. Do look into it, and discuss it with dylan please.
Best revival of a good old Mopar. Watched Dylans video as well. Great job to all of you. Cheers!
You both did great!
Hat's off to y'all for bringing this Charger back around for the owners. The amount of joy you have provided them ❤ is heavenly!!
Amen brother, here is one of my barn finds. ruclips.net/video/f7euqPvGYxA/видео.html
Somehow I feel that car tearing up and breathing relief from being cared for again.
In our latest video, Macy kissed the car while working on it. I pictured the car being a dog and just wanting to be loved and played with again.
Looking forward to seeing the Charger finished completely 😊
Macy and I are going to keep the progress going. So be on the lookout for next steps.
You lucky dogg!! Good deal have fun ………. My dream car !!
Great Work and a great Story about the Car and the Family. I loved watching the Video. Greetings from Germany.
Keep that bad boy as is! Looks beautiful!
im super stoked to see it still around
that car sat in my yard for 3 or so yrs. my late dad is the one who rebuilt the engine in it
Let me know if you want to take a ride in it!
@@MaySeizeGarage i would love to see it again. we had people coming over all the time wanting to buy it. dad would always run them off lol.
Was your Dad's name Tommy?
@@MaySeizeGarage sure is
Oh wow, that’s awesome! Your dad clearly did a great job rebuilding the engine in this thing!
Came here from Dylan's channel. Wonderful job on this great car! The back story made it even better!
You deserve such a great service truck with the sallyspeedshop its been more reliable than the trunda with is not going so well
That's an awesome and absolutely amazing and gorgeous car.
Sweet my first car at age 16 was a 1968 dodge coronet 500 318 buckets automatic kicking my but now cuz it was sweet❤❤
I cannot fathom someone leaving that car in a barn. I love that body style so much, I could NOT ignore it.
The engine was obviously a 318 but I noticed it had dual exhaust which was not usually factory issue. I suspect when the factory pipes rusted they saved money by eliminating the crossover and went with duals. I did that on my 74 Dodge van. The crossover cost more then the extra muffler and pipes.
Did the same too on my 74 318 Charger. True duals with an h-pipe.
What a great looking car 👍👍
It’s really a beauty!
It’s definitely a must see video
Dylan McCool sent me here!
Drinking game: take a shot every time he says "sweet patina sauce". Seriously though great series you guys, will make a great first car for the girl to learn on and drive.
🎉Congrats Brandon!! You got the BEST one. 🥳
Such a cool thing you and Dylan for this family beautiful car looks great
It was so great to be a part of. Thanks for watching!
