Hello MR Store. Is there something specific you are looking for related to IBM TS4500 library configuration in CommVault, or you just need the documentation of TS4500?
@@CorpVault alright. I have same scenario were 4 lpars needs to be zone on 8 tape drives. So in that case i can zone lpar1 + 8 drives in one zone? Then same goes with the 3 remaining lpar total of 4 zones? Each zone has 9 members
Best practice is on a HBA you have 2 FC ports for redundancy. Configure 4 drives for each FC port (so 2 zones) so if one goes down you still have access to the rest and will also work as balancer. Rest you can do what you said.
Yes Tony, I am aware of it but never worked to test it. As I recall it's a licensed feature? What I had in mind was how does it work with persistent and non-persistant (exclusive) tape drive reservations from backup application. 🤔
Hi Gaurav, first of all we are sorry 😔 All old vidoes have them and unable to take it off. Honestly, with loss of old recoding we have to redo the video which is tricky. Any ideas to erase music by editing from current video without having it to reupload to youtube would be much appreciated 🙏
One more doubt, please clarify it. We have procured server and Dell ML3 device. But there is no physical connector provided for server and backup device. But both are are connected to LAN using lan cable and both are rechargeable in network. In this situation can we configure backup tool?
LAN is for accessing Library console and also help to do like check readiness. The actual backup data does not travel over it. You need to have other connection made for it like FC/LC/SAS etc.
Hi Muhammad. As I recall old Tape libraries can be connected via FC (SAN) and SAS but yes the new tape libraries from IBM and Dell do support Ethernet with 10 Gb connection. It all depends on the model of the tape library you have in your environment.
Hello Vardhan, HP Data Protector is being seen less in market. We do not have a lab for it, but I guess we can try make one using old version of HPDP, if that's ok for you?
@@cperzam7700 Unfortunately we do not have any lab setup for HPDP and to be honest creating it might not be possible. If anyone has the setup then we can try to make the needed videos. Hope you understand. Thank you.
Hello, thanks for the video I use a san with two servers connected by a san switch. I want to make an archive or a backup with StoreEverMSL2024. So I will link StoreEver with the san switch. is it possible? The second question is if I need another software for backup like (veeam or dataprotector) or it can do the backup itself.
Hi Ayanleh, as you are planning to connect the tape library to both servers, you can share the tape library and can use it for backups or archive as per requirement. It can be done using Commvault so no other software is needed. If you need for both backup and archive it can also be done to same library or split it into 2 partitions and use as 2 different libraries I.e. one partition for backup and other for archive.
@@CorpVault I will only use it for backup. But the problem is that I want to use the FC (fiber channel) port of the StoreEver MSL2024 for interconnection between servers via a SAN switch. Is this possible? We already have micro focus( Dataprotector) can't do it with that for backup.
Yes it is best way to connect the library to SAN switch and then connect the servers to the same San switche(s) and the perform zoning so connectio is made between them.
@@CorpVault Thank you very much. does the msl2024 server have a web interface to manage? Once connected on the san, is there a configuration to interconnect the server and the libary or software (commvault) that allows to make intérconnection? Please help me I want to finish this work thank you
@@CorpVault this is the error I’m getting ‘’ setup can not continue the WMI interfaces to be added are older then existing interfaces in the repository. Please advise!

Very well explained covering the basic configuration of tape libraries..thanks for sharing.👍👍

Hello MR Store. Is there something specific you are looking for related to IBM TS4500 library configuration in CommVault, or you just need the documentation of TS4500?
thank you for sharing this video 👍
Just a question, what is your practice in zoning tape drives to a server? is it 1 initiator 1 target in each zone?
Ideally the SAN team takes the call. You can have 1 initiator + n drives. I have seen on physical 2 to 6 tape drives and VTL 8 to 16.

Yes it is possible if there is port available on tape Library and PCI adapter on the server
