👍 on the wax ring without the pointless plastic funnel/horn attachment. Those have all failed on me quickly. Either the wax is reacting to the plastic or its holding/splashing back waste on the wax. Meanwhile, plain wax worked fine for decades before they came up with this stupid plastic attachment. I just didn't know any better until I started having to do follow-up repairs and finding fairly new rings rotted/discolored & soft.

Yes I used a standard Oatey, I prefer to use the one without the plastic funnel/flange. The wax ring without the plastic flange works better in my opinion. Sometimes a new toilet comes with a wax ring but I would pick up an extra one just in case they give you the one with the plastic flange. Thanks for your question.
