- If you like the look of the WC that fits back to a wooden unit, then here is how to convert from a close couple pan and cistern, to these units.

Many thanks Al and Jan.
Another great video, you explain and do things in the very easy way that anyone could learn a lot from it, thank you
So nice of you
great job-real world plumbing! i just replaced flush valve etc on my toilet and got the same sense of satisfaction at the end of job as you did (plus, i had a beer) :)
Cheers then Jim.
Ooooh ! Fascinating to watch . Don't think I'll ever get the guts and energy to try that myself , but I'll study the vid. in the meantime ....I changed the syphon after watching your instructions, and that was complicated enough ! so anyway I'm pleased with that for now....so thanks .. your new toilet looks sleek ..and your dog is adorable .
Thanks penny, our Mo loves to see what is going on.Ha ha.
I noticed the beer @12:12.
It's 8.15 right now. Thanks for the reminder.
Cheers!
Cheers back Loafer.
Proper videos by a proper geeza
Thanks Simon.
I would have loved to have seen u connect the flush pipe nut to siphon lol.
It was awkward to get the camera in.
Nice neat job Al 👍
Thanks PB.
Very good advice Al 👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
good timing, guess what i am doing this weekend, won't be as easy as yours though, the soil pipe is not next to the wall so will need to space the cabinet out.
Good luck with that one then.
Or cut thru the side panel and extend the horizontal run to the soil stack. I'm presuming the soil tee is above floor level?
You can get high gloss white panels to box it in once you've done all of your leak tests.
@@loafersheffield my unit is oak and the soil pipe comes up through the floor in concrete! otherwise good plan batman
@LeicaGermanSheherd
Have fun! You'll probably need an appropriate flexi pan connector. Make sure you get in in early before the plumbers merchants close at mid-day.
Oak you say? I'd leave the beer until you've finished.
Thank you very your very clear video. Gunna try this tomorrow 🙂
Good luck!
Nice neat job Al. Can I ask why you changed it, I think you said the old one had only been in a short while. Surely you don't change the whole system every time Jan wants to do a "Spring Clean" lol
Hi Cliff, the problem was the old pan just would not clean, there was always stains in the bottom, if you know what I mean and on top of that, the seat was a replacement one and it never fitted properly leaving a gap at the front of the pan.
@@dereton33 I know exactly what you mean. Personly, I would have had a little word with the plumber lol Nice looking replacement though, fingers crossed this one lasts a bit longer. Best wishes to both yourself and Jan
Thanks Cliff.
When upgrading especially to a BTW always change you pan connector as the old seal will be stretched and will sometimes leak.
And don’t put a a pan connector into another pan connector use a small section of soil stack as this will also leak.
Thanks wiggers.
On another note, like mine, if you do not have enough room for a small piece of soil pipe, I have never had a leak, pushing one connector into another. I once went to a house to renew a pan and found 3 multikwick pan connectors, pushed together to make up a gap and the lady of the house said the pan had been fitted for 20 years with no leaks.
Love your videos. Thank you. Can I ask what you do for overflow?
No need, the overflow is built in to the syphon.
About to start my install. Your videos are awesome. Wish me luck!
Your right Al, looks very nice, I wont let my missus see this vid otherwise she going to want one as well lol
Ha ha might be a good idea.
Can you fit the toilet to the floor using silicon only, if you have screwed the cistern to the wall.?
No it will work loose, screws are the tried and tested way.
@@dereton33 @Ultimate Handyman the one I have is bolted to the cistern. Reason I was asking is that I have underfloor heating. I guess I will have to move the heating element so I can screw the toilet into the ground. I am going to tile the floor next week so I can move it before I tile.
Thank you
You're welcome
Cut the whole back out! It’s hidden by the toilet. Slides in so easy.
Not completely.
the flush pipes can be awful for leaking as you are working blind .
Yes they sure can be.
What about the overflow pipe?
It does not have one. Overflows now run into the pan.
It’s built into the cistern, over flows into wc Pan,
I hope you got Mo a new bowl!
Yes bowled her over with a new one. Ha ha.
I’m just about to fit a toilet like this and there doesn’t appear to be anywhere at the base of the toilet to secure it to the floor? Surely the closet housing the cistern doesn’t support the toilet alone? Great videos as always.
There will be a couple of plastic v pieces which you screw to the floor first. Then two screws go into the side of the pan into those.
The cistern isn't level.
Wow that comment is a bit off the level.
Your “Game of thrones” !!
Ha ha good one richard.
Luvely juberly..... Great job, nice and clear instructions too! Thanks Al 😎👍🏻🚽
No problem Greg.
Can I have Ur toilet please😂cos it looks new lol..my son chucked a 2p coin in mine and it's been there for a long time rusting away and we r unable to get it out!it's caused the bottom of the toilet go brown from the rust🤐it's makes me feel sick tbh an I just want to replace the toilet even though the rest looks brand new!do u think I can change it myself even though I have no plumbing expertise?Ur opinion would be highly appreciated.
Thank you
I would leave to someone with a bit of DIY experience, or of course a plumber.
My cistern's cracked, so I thought I could just swap it but being close coupled and none being available, I can't!
The only individual cisterns I can find are the back to wall type but I'll have to replace the pan as well or it won't fit. Is that correct?
Yes.
Around 10:00 you put screws into the sides of the toilet pan. What is on the inside? What are they fixing to?
They are screwing into a hard plastic L shaped mount screwed to the floor.
Many thanks for this. About to tackle it myself, next to a new sink, both in the bathroom, so it’s a great mental rehearsal watching you. Looks like you need to be Houdini to do some bits.
Good luck with it.
Hi, just to add to the other comments of a great video. Detailed in a simple way to understand. Just one question to put me completely clear on the job,,,, looking to start as soon as..,,,, my old cistern has an over flow pipe, will that fit on one of the two holes on either side of the new cistern? Thanks Rob.
The new cisterns do not require an overflow pipe just use a plastic plug to bung it up. If you want to fit the overflow pipe back though, the side opposite the valve.
@@dereton33 ok. Thanks for getting back to me with that information. 👍👍
Hi Al. Can I ask what type of flexi Connectors, do I fit on the Cistern 1/2 bsp or 3/4 bsp . I'll be connecting to a coupling thread. Which on a 15mm pipe.
You will want a half a inch bsp one
Didn't you empty the cistern first 🤔
Had too I was busting, to much tea. Ha ha.
But what's the point of this dereton33? Is it just aesthetics?
It just looks nice.
@@dereton33 Fair enough :)
Good video, you should paint that wood panel white, would look nice
Am thinking about it.
What are the screws you put in the side of the toilet?
Long self tappers.
@@dereton33 Thanks for the reply, What are are they for? as i didn't see anything for them to screw into?
it looks the business al
Yes, Jan likes it too Ratch.
