Kim stepped in because Jimmy directed Lalo to the bag with the money which has the coffee mug with the bullet hole. If Lalo saw the bullet hole, it would confirm Jimmy is lying.

@@andalf_der_graue you’re right. Lalo knew something was off which prompted him to look for the car. Finding bullet holes confirmed Jimmy lied to him which led to “tell me again” but Kim’s explanation of strangers shooting it after seemingly satisfied Lalo and she stopped him from pushing which would have led to either Jimmy breaking or Lalo finding the mug.

Agreed, he shares the unhinged homicidal evil of Hector, Tuco, and the Twins, but with an intelligence that's about on par with Gus and Walter. And if he wasn't already OP enough, he also has some of the best combat skills of any character in both series. He is hands-down the most dangerous character in the BB universe, and Walt and Jesse are damn lucky they never met him lol.

    Tell. Me. Again.
Yeah, Tony Dalton knocked it out of the park with Lalo's character.
Regarding BrBa vs BCS. I'm kinda of the same thought as you. I just love Breaking Bad. BCS is almost as good, but in certain areas BrBa is just unmatched. Imho.
Still, I'm glad Better call Saul became a reality. Adds so much to the whole universe, gives us more context, has its own excellent characters too.
The whole BrBa universe is imho the best universe in the history of TV. Nothing comes close.

The uncut final sequence of this episode has had me more clenched than arguably any episode of anything I've ever watched, perhaps even more so than Ozymandias (which, to be fair, resolves the Hank tension a quarter of the way in). I love Kim Wexler so, so, *so* much, and we don't see her in Breaking Bad, so I sincerely felt the stakes of Lalo potentially killing her in retaliation.

Amen. From the second We heard that knock on the door until the moment the credits rolled, I was convinced we were about to see Kim die and I was totally losing my shit. Walt might prance around proclaiming that he is “The One Who Knocks” but believe me when I say, Lalo is the one you NEVER want showing up at your door.

Regarding the comparison between BCS & BrBa, I think BrBa excels as a top-notch drama that operates as a power fantasy. BCS manages to be a deconstruction of that power fantasy, showing the empires being built that will inevitably be toppled by the hubris of one man. Not only that, but it takes the framework of BrBa, and enriches the existing characters and what we know of them significantly. It's the *perfect* prequel in this regard. But. More than anything, a dramatic element that puts BCS over the top for me is that it ultimately is a love story, something would've never guessed from the first season alone. This such a key episode in revving up the inherent tension of not knowing Kim's whereabouts in the Breaking Bad timeline.
I literally think about Kim and Jimmy on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. They are simply my favorite fictional pairing, as messy as they are, and the narrative ultimately remains in their orbit all while the audience is tasked with knowing that Jimmy will inevitably become Saul.
This is my favorite show, full stop.

Oh yes... Maybe top 5 scenes in the entire series is the trio confrontation of Lalo, Jimmy & Kim at the end. Mind blowing sustained tension for something like 10 minutes if i remember correctly. From the moment Jimmy answers the phone to when Kim breathes relief after Lalo leaves is insane tension. Masterful writing, acting & directing.

I love Lalo and his actor. Only one complaint: the superhero power seemed over the top a couple times.
Here, jumping onto the car. But also when he went to the western Union and somehow got up above the ceiling tiles and then jumped down.
Not a huge thing but it did pull me out of the reality for a moment. And Lalo's a brilliant character and doesn't need that at all.
I could watch an entire spinoff of Lalo.

My uncle said he started watching BCS but lost steam. I thought that maybe S1 was too slow, and maybe a lot of viewers didn't care about the skateboarding twins or the student film makers. I wondered if I should have told him to skip to S5 and 6, then go back after seeing how awesome 5 and 6 were.

    • @xyrots
      @xyrots 10 дней назад +13

Sorry but that's terrible advice. Skipping seasons of character development because it's not high octane action just to be thrown in the middle of the story with Lalo is absolutely not worth it at all. You miss all of Chuck's arc, all of Howard's, Kim and Jimmy's relationship struggles, you literally miss *all* of Jimmy McGill because he's Saul Goodman by the time s5 starts.
