His peak mental performance, depression recovery program is listed number ___ONE in the top resourcing manual for doctors the DSM. His statistics on a plant based diet are well sought after by many influential people. I was his head nurse in the NEWSTART program. Amazing turnarounds.

Yes Dr Nedley’s passion comes thru and his desire for his patients to be well mentally is powerful. I know I was part of his 10 days program Jan 2018; I practice his protocol still 2 yrs later - some days better than others but consistently plant based for over 22 yrs 🙏🏽😘👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽

I've gone through his depression recovery program--not in California but here in Michigan. It saved my life. I was highly clinically depressed and his program brought me back into the light. The principles I've learned have helped me recognize signs of stress so it's helped me even now, especially in dealing with the stresses of this pandemic. It's changed my life so much I now teach nutrition classes that are whole food-plant based. We've had people reverse their diabetes because of them. So I'm so thankful for Dr. Nedley and New Start!

I had the privilege to attend the NEWSTART program last year. It was an amazing experience. Great presentations, great doctors, amazing food and lots of presentations. Not to mention all those massages and hydrotherapy. Total rebut, lifestyle change for me.

Once again, I am so very grateful for your amazing interview here with Dr. Neil Nedley. I had not previously heard of him and now that I've watched this informative interview, I'm so heartened to know that he exists. Dr. Nedley's work deeply resonates within my heart. As a licensed psychotherapist (LMFT) and clinical nutritionist, here in California, I've always strived to incorporate mind, body, and the spirit into my work. Similarly to Dr. Nedley and you, I believe there really is no separation between the mind and the body, and understand how essential good, plant-based nutrition is for a healthy, happy whole self. Lots of love for you! xoxo

ChefAJ! I was so pumped when you said you were going to interview Neil Nedley because I have never heard him speak or present, but I have his book! I first heard of him on Howard Jacobson’s Plant Yourself podcast. Another female doctor was singing his praises and I had to look up the book. Anyway, maybe I can try to find the name of that female doc (she was plant-based) and pass it along. Also, maybe consider interviewing Howard on your show? I’d love to hear him talk about what it was like to work with T Colin Campbell, Josh LaJaunie and Garth Davis, and also how he came to be plant-based!!

I am a proponent of the WFPB diet and find Dr. Nedley's professional work highly important and fascinating. Although the often-overlooked link between diet and mental illness may be the underlying cause of the illness of many, in my own private case of depersonalization disorder, I have found that whilst my own psychiatric symptoms are somewhat reduced when adhering to the diet, they undoubtedly persist. The disorder seems to stem solely from environmental factors and is not an inevitable genetics-driven fate; yet, no proven treatment exists to this day. Most professionals in the field of mental health possess only superficial knowledge regarding the disorder, and studies on depersonalization are rare. It is a mystery awaiting resolution. Ultimately, mental illness as a whole is multi-factorial and cannot be reduced to a single cause in all cases. although it undoubtedly could be in many cases.

I agree that diet and exercise are foundational for mental health, but not a cure for the consequences of trauma. It's puzzling that so many mental health professionals are not trauma-informed. Have you read about Bessel van der Kolk's discoveries regarding brain wiring with traumatic memory? His latest book is The Body Keeps the Score. He has a NICABM course that is for professionals, but open to the public, that is on sale right now for $97.

I was very interested until I went to the institute’s website. It’s strongly based on the Christian belief system and does not sound inclusive toward a different way of life. I will be staying with Chef AJ, ‘her’ other doctors, the plant based woe and the Eastern meditations.

    • @AlexiHolford

Why do put “her” in quotes?

I also don’t understand your need to comment on the Christian belief system. That shows your intolerance. Why not take from all sources in finding answers to health problems?
