- The remains of a missing woman who was last seen in Cobb County have been found in Tennessee. Twenty-year old Maury Martinez disappeared last summer.

@@bushmonster1702 Could be. However, the investigation moved to Cobb County meaning she was NOT trying to flee whoever she was with, meaning she felt comfortable with the person she was with. Most serial killers do NOT drive around with their victims letting them be seen and leave clues for the police.
They probably suspect her ex bf had something to do with it but have no hard evidence yet.

Terrible tragedy; yes, she was gorgeous, and so is her mom. You can see how beauty runs in that family.
I really hate this focus of 'beauty' when it comes to news of a death. It should have no bearing at all on the tragedy. It just goes to show that people do just books by the cover. The loss felt should be equally as sad no matter how someone looks. That should be completely irrelevant. Otherwise, it suggests a tragedy is worse when the person is particularly 'gorgeous'.

Yes, this young woman was beautiful but would the loss of a young woman's life be any less tragic to them and their family if they were considered ugly or obese or physically or mentally impaired? I do find it odd that we so rarely hear these stories about anyone that isn't "beautiful". I do not understand that.

First time hearing of her missing. Such a strange story. Her Mom was just minutes from picking her up but she still decided to get in a strange man’s car? And she told that to her Mom. So weird.
And why is this the first time hearing of her? Strange how some girls go viral around the U.S when missing and most we never hear of. Any person missing should be on the local news every day. It takes 2 seconds to flash a photo w/description.

Very strange, never heard her either. Tennessee really doesn’t have a good track record for missing persons cases.
Why was her mom laughing in her statement. She seemed so oddly normal for someone who found out her daughter was murdered.

Women and children have to be very careful these days. Evil can be anywhere at any time. Stay alert and don't trust strangers.
Most likely it was someone she knew, perhaps a boyfriend or ex-boyfriend. Could even be a guy who was rejected by her. But still, you do have to be careful and not trusting of strangers.
That will never happen because people are stupid especially women and little children, they will continue to trust strangers.

Incomplete report. Why was she in jail, tho? She hitched a ride with a stranger when her mother was already coming to pick her up. Something is not making sense here.

you may say it's only cobb co. but.... these streets are bad here...eat you alive. i worked as a dispatcher for 7 1/2 yrs in cobb co for a taxi service...you can't imagine all that goes on. thx.

It’s also possible, unfortunately, that only the killer knows what happened and acted in solitude. The police might have some forensic evidence to work from .. I certainly hope so.

Why was she leaving a prison? Did she work there? I read she got a ride with someone instead of waiting for her mother. Obviously whoever gave her the ride took her life

Not much information. Can they tell how she died? How long she had been dead? Praying for the family.
Law enforcement can't reveal that information while an active investigation into her death is taking place.
Skeletal remains. She had def been out in the woods for quite some time :(
She likely died within hours of being abducted.
The police don't want to give away too much information before they put together a case. These investigations can take weeks and months, hopefully it won't turn into years.
Having multiple parties and departments involved is going to make this that much harder… I really hope it does not go cold
I don't think many of us were prepared for how terrifying motherhood truly is. Every parents worst nightmare. I am so sorry for what happened to your beautiful child.

Yeah v sad. I lost my cat and someone told me rangers found her. When i rang up thinking i could bring her home rangers quietly say " its deceased" i just broke down and started bawling. I was heartbroken and couldn't get out of bed for a few days
