- A 12-year-old girl is accused of smothering and killing her 8-year-old cousin over an iPhone. According to the county's prosecutor, a security camera recorded the killing inside the bedroom the young girls shared. The recording shows the older child using bedding to suffocate her cousin as she slept in the top bunk. After the child died, the juvenile cleaned up the victim and repositioned her body.

This is SO disturbing. Saw other coverage that said the 12 yo went and got tissues to clean up the cousin because she'd wet herself while struggling. The girl cleaned her body & face then repositioned her to look as if she was just sleeping. What in the works has this girl been watching? She ended up pregnant at age 14 and was always in trouble. In 2003, I gotta call from my mom telling me she saw her on the Chicago news: her daughter died in a fire.

She positioned her body to pretend like she was sleeping, so that right there is proof she knew what she was doing. Also we got to remember what times we are in. I will be 35 and its nothing like it was when I was younger. We didn't have cellphones, tablets, we didn't have social media. Today these kids have any and everything and it easy for them to access all types of different things. These kids are not dumb by a long shot how people are making them out to be. I'm nearly 43 and back in 1993 a couple of 10-year-old boys killed a 2 year old....no internet back them. It's the parenting. They either abuse them, neglect them or give them no boundaries. It never ever crossed my mind to unalive my younger siblings or my sister but I was ab*sed and bullied so I often thought about unaliving those people. I'm also autistic so the abuse and emotional neglect triggered a lot of mental illness in me. I haven't done anything criminal and I've had medication and psychotherapy treatment but I still struggle to remain functional, stable and safe.

As a mother myself, I can only imagine what her mom is going through. You're thinking you're just sending your child to grandma's and then her cousin kills her in such a gruesome way. Nobody would suspect that. It makes me not want to even leave my kids with anyone. Even family.

Some of the kids today are weird. I promise it’s the stuff they are watching on RUclips and playing on Roblox. My 13-year-old niece, she obsessed with her phone and you can't tell her anything. She gets frustrated and upset over the smallest things. One day she was gonna spend a night at my house and I was like nah. My energy just didn’t trust her and to be around my kids. My boyfriend's kids are weird 😕 The daughter likes to watch videos with grown ups cursing playing games and using all kinds of sexual talk throughout they're content and she thinks thar it's quite alright to sit there along with her father and I and watch that crap while she laughs out loud and makes creepy noises. All while this is going on, the son is over talkative and pacing the floors, and the dad, my boyfriend is just sitting there acting as if he's seeing non of it all while wearing ear phones and playing the x box. Im sitting there looking at them shaking my head, like jesus, it's something mentally wrong with you all because wtf? These are just the mild things that i can describe that's gone on during our relationship. Smh

I don't care about her prefrontal cortex. She knew she needed to hide it and kept quiet for over a day, allowing people to mourn her cousin. We weren't matured, either 30 years ago, but we know that murder was wrong! Regardless of her addiction to the phone, you don't get to murder. You learn from it, take the devices away, and charge her for the crime she committed.
Over an iphone? This is one of the reasons why kids under 17 should not have personal smartphones or un monitored social media platform access. Smartphones and social media is eroding the morals of society at large.
The kid is bad news, this is a trait that will not go away. She has to be watched and history shows if they sweep this under the rug more people will get hurt by her in the future.

Parents should be teaching the Bible to their kids and instilling morals and values.
I have taught my children the Bible since they were in the womb and still do to this day everyday. They are homeschooled because those schools are FULL of demons. God gave me them to raise them up in God❤

It's not secret Bible is one of most violent books there, 10 commandments is only part suitable for children. Best way to teach kids is to live the way you want them to become but if kid is so heavily addicted to devices at such young age chances are they will learn from internet more than from their own parents and we all know internet is bad place for kids.

We played real games in the 70's 😂 kick the can, tag making forts playing in the snow. If children can go to hell, then they children can go to jail. It's called the age of accountability. At 12 years old, you know right from wrong. This young girl thought out her crime, and knew she could get into trouble. She was being deceitful, she tried to hide her crime. She knew exactly what she was doing. After being placed in juvenile detention, she should complete her sentence in prison.
