R tech probably look more expensive on first sight, but when you take into account their delivery times, their unbeatable warranty schedule and their customer approach and service, you get to see the benefits. Add to this the quality of their products and you realise that they really do represent great value for money, as they’re not going to let you down after a couple of years. I bought exactly the same welder (TIG 161) and was so impressed that I immediately bought their small, portable plasma cutter. Wish I’d bought the plasma table instead, but I’m really happy with this kit. I’m sure you’re going to get years of use from your welder and plasma table.
Don Sides exactly Don any saving you might make would be small and if it went wrong you’d have to skip it, it would be a total loss. That’s the conclusion I came to too. 👍
THANK YOU R-Tech for supporting our favorite channel!!!
Excellent news Trev these welders are great and a great company. I love my 180 and if you need anything from them if you call before 3pm it will usually be with you the following day.
Nice work Trev.. JC
Still amazes me how people can give a thumbs down to someone that is trying his best to impart his knowledge onto those less talented. It seems like '99.999%' appreciate the videos - but there are always some arseholes out there. Thanks Trev - as usual - very informative. CHEERS from AUSTRALIA. Have a nice day all - HA - even to the 'thumbs downers'.
I can’t believe it either. Good news though is even a thumbs down is a view which goes in favor for Trev. We know he is the best and that’s what is important.
@@britjamaine9229 We call that just envy.... I hate Trev because he is so good...I hate Trev because he is so professional...I hate Trev because he does all in such high quality...ahahahhahahahha! I love the channel and if had a chance to make a TV program with him I would......So God Bless you Trev's Robbie Rotten - LazyTown

From Canada - Some people are generally envious and miserable, probably of the cup is half empty variety. How can a reasonable person not appreciate Trev's efforts? This is a great channel and hope he does fantastically well with it and any other endeavour.
Many thanks
Well said mate, i cant work out why these idiots put thumbs down either.
@andy green I'm not in control of anything and I thumbs down videos all the time.
Its not on purpose though. I view most of RUclips via my cell phone and the app. When I do one handed navigation, or sometimes when I put the phone down and just listen, I end up fumbling the like and dislike buttons without knowing it. I know it happens because a brief window pops up and by the time you try to see what it was, it disappears. But if you then look at the like/dislike buttons, you will see one highlighted meaning you expressed a preference. I find myself subscribing and unsubsidized to channels all the time this way too.
Its a flaw with the app. It doesn't ask for confirmation. It just does and if you miss the pop up window, you do not know to look to see what you have done. I bet most, if not all thumbs down on this content is because of that.
Fantastic news on the welder mate! I’m gearing up to restore my Austin Healey 100-6 and need all the help you can offer! I’ve been lapping up wray’s etype videos as well, and so hanging out for your shrinker stretcher vids, I’ve got an old set needing a rebuild which will hopefully come back to life (Shrinker stretcher tools) will be making a video of that rebuild myself!
A Great job as always Trev amazing work .
Stunning work Trev. You have a truly rare talent
rob scully /l second that we are blessed to have Trev showing us the way ahead .

First close up, me thinks TR6. Next shot, bingo. The headlamp repair piece was gobsmacking amazing. Can't wait for that video.
You're a magician!! My favourite Chanel and you're helping me so much with my own restoration
CONGRATULATIONS!! Once again a leading company has recognized the quality of your channel. I've watched a number of repair channels, but none compare to yours in terms of true "How To" information. It's like going to body repair school, but a lot more fun. Keep rocking it!
More awesome work, I use an r tech tig myself and love it. your welder is R-tech ac-dc Tig 161
Artec- AC/DCTIG161 . Daniel Jones Po Box 4004 West Preston ,Victoria Australia 3072 . Cheers Thanks for all your Knowledge shared around this globe
Great video. I'm excited about all the new videos you've described that are "on the way."
Your new welder is the R Tech AC/DC Tig 161. Thank you for everything!

Thanks Trev, really enjoying your blog.Your new TIG is TIG161 R-Tech TIG Welder AC/DC 160 Amp 240v
Friend, you are excellent teacher. Thank you.
Hi Trev, Perhaps you could explain the plus and minuses between mig and tig for us inexperienced would be welders. My friend has a large welding business but it is all a bit over my head. Look forward to the next post. many thanks.
majorscope it just happens that this is exactly the video I’m looking to make soon. Weighing up all the pros and cons of Gas Mig and Tig. Cheers Trev 👍
its a china cup and plastic pen set........................., thats right isn't it, name the drinking vessel and writing implement and win a tig welder?
Hi Trev. Love your videos, tutorials and of course.. your sense of "ha ha".
It's super-fantastic that you got the R Tech AC/DC Tig 161 from them. Smart advertising on their part.
Keep the videos coming!
Top class work . Its a long time since I have seen work to this standard , almost 50 years in the automotive trade . Hands on that is , not an office jockey . Amazing work . Keep the excellent work and tutorials going , to help the up and coming youngsters who want to learn the correct way to hand form and finish to a very high standard . Excellent work .
I'm totally blown away by the quality of those repair pieces you MADE BY HAND. The fit is absolutely perfect. So impressive to watch a master of his craft at work...thanks so much for sharing your skills with us!
Great video Trev. If anyone deserves a new great welder it's you mate.Nice job on the metalwork. I keep getting a glimpse of the van lol it looks great. The welder model is AC/DC TIG 161.
Cheers, Jeff.
cabdriveruk it’s looking great mate 🤩🤩🤩
Trev, can you also explain the differences between AC and DC modes for tig welders. I looked at a DC only one is about half the price. Long term wise should I invest in the more expensive one?
Weld.com is very informative on all things welding. Good luck.👍
Chris Benn if you want to weld aluminium then you will need a tig welder with an ac function. If you only want to weld steel or stainless etc the a welder with just the dc function will work just fine. Cheers Trev 👍
Those panels came out so good it made me mad. :) Only because I'm not capable of such work. Outstanding!
Hi Trev, I like your blog and the way you explain things, very easy to understand, very good crafting !! Please excuse my grammar, I'm German, sometimes English is difficult. I'm looking forward to some sheet metal work. Thank you for your cool videos! ;-)
Trev, congratulations on a well deserved sponsorship and your enthusiasm for making content for us all. Not to start a scrap with you but the Bedford is on a similar if not larger scale with the Mongrel. I like Matt’s content too so if you are going bigger than the van Im getting out the popcorn to watch! Many happy successes to you with your channel.
Jeanette made a great choice! Say hi for all us!
NO LIP FROM YOU
Hi Trev, love from the USA, so how about a little clarification from the comment at 10:29 so are you saying the Chinese quality of products now rate with Germans or the German quality of products now rate with the Chinese
Lynn Hooley neither really although I’m guessing there are good and bad on both sides. The main point I was trying to make was if you buy a welder from Germany China or anywhere else in the world and you’re based in the uk, I would be guessing that if it went wrong after the first year there would be very few sellers willing to replace at their own cost. Cheers Trev 👍
Okay thanks Trev, when I get ready to replace my current one I'm going to look for an Italian made or one made in the USA, my current one has a 2% duty cycle which is okay because I like to drink a lot of coffee, it's made in China, and no not the China 30 minutes from Beaumont Texas.
Lynn Hooley if you’re in the States have you checked out the Everlast welders, somebody told me they’re good welders although I have no personal experience. Cheers Trev
@@trevsblog thanks Trev yes I'm familiar with the brand, but I've never used or seen one personally.
Who doesn't like a knob joke?! Good tip Trev
RTec AC/DC 161 Tig welder
R-Tec ac/dc TIG 161. Enjoy your new welder.
R Tech AC/DC Tig 161 -- matt urch sets a pretty high bar, but i'm sure you'll find an interesting long-term project to take us through. still waiting for the last episode on the bedford van.
Trev, I love the content you put out! Congrats on the recent sponsorships. I have been doing this sort of work as a hobby and occasionaly for friends for several years. My friends think I am good. If they ever see your work they will start calling me a hack. ;D
All the best!
Mike
Hi
I bought an R Tech AC DC tig welder from R tech several years ago.
It was out of warranty.
I got a problem with it, rang R Tech and sent it for repair.
It was returned to me repaired…….No charge…. repeat NO CHARGE.
How many companies would do that.
R Tech really are the best.
M
It's like you read my mind. Just got an R-Tech 180. Bead roller and shrinker stretcher are on there way
I see we went to different schools together cracking spot on do you know what the kids in England call mickey mouse? michael rodent. sorry Trev all I can give you is a bad time
I want to edge banding to 10mm. the 90 degree angles... My job is the round square, the maximum diameter is the 30 to 45 mm reduced. so how much bedroll wheel diameter required??
Sorry Trev did you joggle the pieces together using the roller technique,as you didn't show pieces not yet welded end on . Great video lucky bugger free Tig welder.
Sean Roberts all but welded. Cheers Trev 👍
@@trevsblog I watched many times slept on it and come to the conclusion it's butt welded, thanks trev.
You knock me out with your ability. LOVE your work an knowledge. I teach myself as i go along. Knowbody HERE has the knowlege to teach! !
That lipped piece was amazing.
Can’t wait to see the video on how to use a shrinker/stretcher.
I think the welder was an R Tech Tig20 Analogue? Not bothered about the mug - I was going to the R Tech site anyway to look at their welder porn. Ooooooooh...
RTec AC/DC Tig 161. Really enjoy the videos by the way. Keep them coming
Well, shit. That's some great work, buddy.
I've seen RUclips videos on how to do that crappy pie cut and lap weld repair. Each to his own I suppose but why not learn some real skills @ Trev"s Blog I say!
R-Tech AC DC Welder. I will check them out. Sounds like a great company.
Year I went for the same welder, using the same logic. R tech gave me my one, after I gave them £1200.50
I think Trev gets into the coffee from the Bakery van. Wait, did he just call me a big knob?
The welder is a R Tech AC/DC Tig 616. thanks for the vids Trev
I can see know why so many people from all over the world send their high end cars to the UK for restoration , none of this lathering them in BONDO shite .
Trev - Have also have an R Tech TIG welder. Top machine for my Porsche project in Germany. The after sales service is also first class from Gloucester.
Additionaly - I started my career in Leckhampton in 1996 as a mechanic at AJEC BMW - stumbled onto your great channel - please keep up the good work and posts.
Herr in Hessen yes I remember the company well. Cheers Trev 👍
Good for you rock on Trev👍 Have to say your a great catch for R-Tech bring it on the rest😉
All I have to say is "Damn, you are good!" You humble us
Awesome content. The very best tutorial on RUclips on the art of metal working
mad skills AND a friend of doubleboost... bloody ell
Your sharing lots of experience. . Well deserved. 👍👌
ps. just a thought, what about a cracker jack pencil for the losers?
Just great work, can't wait to see the van when done.
Will you and R-tech be at the NEC Classic car and bike show? I usually see them there. Very helpful team.
A65Bill they are helpful, I believe they offer a bit of discount at the show also. Cheers Trev 🤩
Pleased You got sorted with a TIG set
Lips and knobs???OOHHH maitron...
Really impressed by the repair panels you made at work. This is the holy grail of repair technique for most of us visiting your blog. Would love to see you do some Aluminium welding or make an English Wheel using your new Artec- AC/DCTIG161. Have you thought about something like that Trev? ;-)
zumwild I will be using the plasma table for the English wheel and probably mig welding it together. Cheers Trev 👍
Your panel shaping project on the Bedford is miles ahead of the mongrel. Looking forward to see the van finished.
David Brown I love the concept of Matts creation, a very interesting project for people to follow. My only worry with my ideas are they may go on for a while and people may get a bit bored. Cheers Trev 👍
Don't get too high tech Trev, a lot of us can't afford the shiny stuff :)
lostsignalreception I’ll always do homemade stuff. Cheers Trev 👍
Hey Trev! So.....say you needed to make a panel like that, with curves and a large flange, but couldn't weld it (because it needs to be 2024 aluminum) how would you go about it? I need to do just that for a WWII airplane I'm working on.
Johnny Bones this is one of those unweldable aluminium alloys isn’t it? Have a look at some welding forums, I bet someone has come up with a solution or some clever brazing rod etc. The only other thing you could look at is other aluminium products with similar properties and remake the part using that instead. Cheers Trev 👍
Would you say you have an "egregious" nature? Love the LOG reference! I'm supposed to be doing my homework for college (writing about why we do an interval service *yawns*), but watching your videos instead.
Carl Holm if you look up the word in the Oxford dictionary it actually states my old managers name, what a cock he was and certainly unrivalled! Yeah I remember doing my exams at school and not knowing half of the answers and yet I could recite the whole of the Young ones word for word. Cheers Trev 👍
Always fun to watch you bob, weave and talk at the same time, Trev. The lighting of your videos is very good---the camera, or maybe some 'Daylight' LED? Even though you didn't take my advice and start a Patreon account it just had to support your shirt buying budget on PayPal.
Cory Pride I may do a patreon in the future. Massive thanks Trev 👍
I'm a fan of your work. Adriano Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
My good man, who are you?! Buddy I am bummed I have just come across your channel. Absolutely stellar content my friend and new sub! Keep it coming my man.
scott petrie my names Trev welcome aboard sir 🤩
Trev , nice welder mate. Got the same one myself . They are a good company and sell some good kit.
RAYMOND STEELE have you changed your phone number?
Congratulations on your new welder, great video!
Greetings kind sir, thanks so much for all of the great videos. Something that I noticed that you struggle with that I seemed to struggle with much more is the handle of the bead roller. To solve the problem, I removed the handle and found a short piece of heavy wall pipe that fit fairly snug. I drilled and tapped a hole in the side of it and then welded it to the old original steering wheel from my old mustang. The wheel, as opposed to the handle, eliminates that awkward spot where you seem to have no leverage. Thanks again for the great videos.
Marcus Loftis sounds brilliant 🤩
Hi Trev just amazing matey that repair on that Tr6 front valance is that good a good primer filler will cover that no need for filler, the people who give you thumbs down whaaaaaaaat brain dead there are people so jealous of your talento buddy you are a Master dont ever forget that you deserve everything you get to Keep us enjoying your blog.
Carlos Mendez Thanks I appreciate it. Pay no attention to the thumbs down, the better the video is the more thumbs down you get which says a lot about the viewers giving the thumbs down. Cheers Trev 👍
Hi Trev, what gas do you recommend for Mig welding car panels? I just bought a Mig and I have to learn to weld.
gEpWxAqd FsiDseSG Aronsheild co2/argon mix
It's an R-tech 161 Trev. Thanks.
I suspect that R Tech is sold here Stateside as the AHP AlphaTIG 200X.
oneproudbrowncoat R-tech don’t make welders for any other company, if it hasn’t got R-tech written on the side it won’t be the same inside. The only part that is used on another brand is the control fascia on one of the single point control TIG welders. Cheers Trev 👍
@@trevsblog my mistake. Does look awfully similar, but then there's only so much necessary variation anyway.
Amazing craftsman. Real skills.
Hi Trev, hope all well :) you are a superstar to me. Thanks for another great episode from you !!!! CHEERS
Great to see that you and Doubleboost have met up--Been a fan of his for years. Congrats on the new, well-deserved sponsorship!
Nice video. That headlight piece looked tricky to fab. Congrats on the welder. Mahalo for sharing! : )
nice video Trev, always top quality work and a nice treat getting a free welder. Result.
Thank you 😊
I love my rtech tig machine, i've stopped using them for gas though, they use gasuk and they are a little bit expensive, there will be a local supplier that can do it cheaper i'm sure
That'll be an R Tech AC/DC TIG 161 there Trev. Oh and by the way, your Coffee Cruiser really looks the goods mate. Are you up to speed with all those fancy Frothy designs in the cup...Haha
Can't wait for a bit of hot TIG action Trev. I've tried it and failed so any help will be great. It's an R-Tec AC/DC 160 Amp 240v. I've used the same R-Tec shop and found them very helpful.

Do you need an apprentice ?
Just watched your retro festival video. Hopefully I'll bump into you at the next one. Definitely feel like I owe you a pint. Or a bottle of spitfire or two at the very least. I've got so much from your vids Trev, I really appreciate it. Im a mechanic by trade Volvo apprentice then 17 years with BMW, but found i was spending more and more time stood at a computer. Not for me! I'm old school a ludite some may say. Your skills are phenomenal, thanks for sharing
Love your videos!
You got an R-Tech Model TIG 161
Id happily drink my morning coffee from an R-Tech mug if you still have a spare.

I'd be very interested in your thoughts of your shiny new R-Tech AC/DC Tig 161 versus a traditional transformer tig?
Many moons ago I did a basic tig welding course with old tech machines, basically set the amps. How much easier / better welds do the bells & whistles actually give you?
Nice oneTrev!👍cool video!i will love to know(and in case to watch)how and if you do repair on campervan bodies,so wooden frame and alluminium...any videos of this kind?😀cheers.keep on mate💪😎
