    The Mazda CX-3 doesn’t offer much space or power, but its superb driving dynamics and sharp styling make it the Miata of SUVs.
    A 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine has been retuned for 2019, now offering 148 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque, with more of that torque available across a wider rev range. The result helps the Mazda CX-3 feel quick and spritely, despite the relatively low power numbers. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard on all trims and, combined with front-wheel drive, returns an expected 29 mpg city, 34 highway, 31 combined. Optional all-wheel drive drops those numbers to 27/32/29.
    Inside, the CX-3 features comfortable seats up front and very little legroom in the rear. Neither Apple CarPlay nor Android Auto are available, but Mazda’s Mazda Connect infotainment system is easy to use, well-featured, and includes a touchscreen with a redundant Euro-style rotary control on the center console.
    The CX-3 also comes equipped with impressive safety equipment. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard equipment, while the iActiveSense option packages add all-speed forward emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and adaptive high-beams.
    Pricing on the Mazda CX-3 starts at $20,390 for the base Sport FWD trim (and before a destination charge of $995) and ranges to a starting MSRP of $27,145 on the top-level Grand Touring AWD trim. For more information on the 2019 Mazda CX-3, see our full overview on CarGurus: cargur.us/r2jsf

    I’ve never been interested in cars before and always just bought the cheapest thing I could find with four wheels. Then I got the 2019 Mazda CX3 GT and now I’m watching car videos and I even joined a FB group for other people who have the CX3. This fun little car literally changed how I feel about cars and their importance in my life. I’ve already started planning future upgrades like adding Apple Car Play (Mazda can add it as an option) and tinted windows. The reason for the excitement? It’s FUN to drive and super intuitive it actually takes away a lot of the stress I used to have in heavy traffic and I can just relax and enjoy the drive. ✌🏼

    Just right, and nice job as always. This little creature is best as a daily driver, light hauler if you have a larger SUV out front, have no need to haul cargo off-road and live in an urban environment this baby
    may be for you.

    We just bought a used 2019 Touring/Sunroof Pkg. Only 9k miles on it. Soul Red. After driving a dozen compact and subcompact SUVs, including the new CX-30 and CX-5, my wife liked this the best. Great as her suburban runabout -- peppy, very maneuverable and easy to park.

      Tsvetelin Atlazov, same here..test drove the new 3 while that was good, quiet int and nicely designed esp now with AWD my girls still preferred this CX3 due to its shorter length and higher ride height/ground clearance! Either way you go can’t go wrong with a Mazda anyway!

    This is a well done and interesting review. I traded my old but loved WRX for a Grand Touring AWD CX-3 last year (2018 model) . I was hoping the 2019 CX-3 had fixed the problems I find, but that's not the case. Still no Android auto. I paid hundreds of dollars to have the dealer install this option, but Mazda freezes the touch screen so you have to use the fussy knob system they have. The reviewers are typically tall guys, and I guess they don't realize that for those of us who are not tall (I am very not tall) the visibility out of this vehicle is poor: the A-pillars are thick; belt line is too high; wing mirrors enormous. Even with drivers' seat electronic height adjustment, it is hard to see pedestrians when making a left turn. In addition, the lack of any kind of remote or interior release for the back hatch is problematic, especially in the cold New England winter, when you have to take your gloves off and feel around for the off-center and hidden little release. Mazda's information about the new CX-30 emphasizes visibility, so I think they know there is a problem with this model.

      UUB Repus apparently you can buy it as a dealer installed software option. It’s about $300. It doesn’t make sense why they wouldn’t just include it.

    This is a good review and some versions of this car do need more power. The basic car with front wheel drive and manual transmission borders on quickness and has adequate power for its weight. The AWD, automatic, air-conditioned version, however, adds about 8% to the weight with no increase in engine output. The AWD version borders on lethargic and needs about 8% more power to compensate for the additional mass. The frustrating thing is that the exact same engine with different software in the engine control computer does make adequate power. What was Mazda thinking when they limited the power of the, heavy for a subcompact, AWD CX-3 to 140 and some horsepower? It really needs about 160 to be able to pass other vehicles safely on secondary highways. The AWD CX-3 is just a software upgrade away from becoming a great little zoom-zoom car.

    • @SuperMurrayb
      @SuperMurrayb 5 лет назад

      Hello Hungry Hippo. In the past I owned FWD cars with all season radial tires and none of them ever got stuck so I don't think a FWD CX-3 would get stuck much either. The problem for us was that this car is sold with bundles of options and some of nicer options are only available with the AWD. It is still a nice little car but the AWD system adds about 170 pounds to the weight and that extra mass reduces acceleration and gas mileage. It is too bad that Mazda does not allow their customers to choose the options they want but none of the other companies seem to give their customers the freedom to choose things either.

    This is exactly why I wanted one. The Miata is just too impractical unless it is a spare vehicle just for fun. If it had been available with a 6 speed manual it would be in my garage right now. I opted for the 2021 CX-30 for the more modern, more refined driving experience.

    I'm just 5'11", and the rear seats are super uncomfortable! The trunk is basically useless. I wish the Hyundai KONA, the Mazda CX-3 & the Toyota C-HR would offer as much trunk and backseat space as the Subaru IMPREZA hatch!...now THAT would make these Crossovers actually useful!!! If one is buying a Crossover, one wants more than a good looking car that is fun to drive. I'm not asking for the off-road prowess of a Jeep, but more cargo space and a Ground Clearance of at least 7.3"...this Crossover is only 0.6" taller than my old hatchback!

After driving a dozen compact and subcompact SUVs, including the new CX-30 and CX-5, my wife liked this the best. If you really need AWD and off road capability, get the Crosstrek. If you live in snow country, get the CX-3 in AWD. Ours is FWD -- we live in the SE and you just don't need AWD.

    The comparison to the MX5 is apt. Have a significant other who demands you give up your Miata dreams in favor of an SUV? Well, the MX3 is nearly as impractical on the SUV scale as the MX5 is on a family sedan scale.

  • @FlyGuy457
    @FlyGuy457 5 лет назад +3

    Here is what most competitors offer; start/stop engine control=sucks, cvt tranny,=sucks, poor interior materials=suck, poor handling=suck. What's left, well, first, for those of us that live in snowy conditions, the AWD version is fantastic, for daily commuting (not hauling the kids-that is obvious). Does it have a smallish engine =yes, is it well executed in a class of commuter vehicles=yes. Good MPG=yes. Did you say you really liked driving it=why yes you did.
