A Canadian here who knew Jeff personally. P[ayed with him at a cottage on Lake Simcoe, Him on a Dobro and a few of us on acoustics, harp and bass. A gathering of people in a fireside arena that went down as a memorable moment for all who were lucky. He died a year later. I am now 73 and the smell of smoke is still remembered. Not from the fire but from that dobro. A kind and humble presence who's fate was known by all who was there. RIP Jeff and thanks for making each campfire since a walk in memory.
Toronto girl here and a huge fan of our hometown boy Jeff, SRV & the blues. I'm envious of your Lake Simcoe experience with Jeff and the wonderful memory you have of that time. Toronto was such an amazing town musically to grow up in. With me it started in 1969 with all the music festivals, concerts, bar bands, etc. I think I spent the 70's just working to pay for live music.....a great investment for amazing memories!
Two of the greatest guitarists to walk the Earth. I once sent a reporter to cover Jeff Healey performing at a little lounge at The Glengarry Best Western in Truro, Nova Scotia. Nobody had heard of Jeff at that point. In no time he was performing with the likes of SRV.
@@ImperialRadioYT Well, if you MUST question info passed along (is if it were a lie), here's just 1 article (Wikipedia) I found in a 5 second search: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Healey#:~:text=They%20received%20a%20write-up%20in%20Toronto%27s%20NOW%20magazine%2C,by%20guitarists%20Stevie%20Ray%20Vaughan%20and%20Albert%20Collins%29. The band made their first public appearance at the Birds Nest, located upstairs at Chicago's Diner on Queen Street West in Toronto. They received a write-up in Toronto's NOW magazine, and soon were playing almost nightly in local clubs, such as Grossman's Tavern and the famed blues club Albert's Hall (where Jeff Healey was discovered by guitarists Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert Collins).
Two dudes having the same passion for music (in particular, guitar) are playing together in another realm. Both of them gone too soon, but luckily for us, they left reminders on RUclips and streaming platforms to watch and listen to in amazement.
Back in 1990 at Red Rock's Amphitheatre, watched The Jeff Healey Band open up for Bonnie Raitt, and holy sh#t! LOL! Bonnie Raitt was awesome too! But, Jeff Healey! Next level!! 🙂
REMEMBER JIMI HENDRIX played Behind his back, played with his teeth, behind his head and one handed before WE even heard of Stevie and Jeff!! YES Stevie and Jeff are AWESOME ,GREAT GUITARIST. WE are So lucky to have Stevie and Jeff in our lives!! Jimi started it All and it's GREAT have Stevie and Jeff PICKUP where JIMI left OFF !!
When talented musicians get together a there’s a good vibe they just know when to take the lead or pull back a little. It’s a really cool thing to be part of.
My grandmother lived down the street from Stevie Ray in Dallas and I never knew! I did see him in Dallas at a Bon Jovi Concert he joined them in a couple of songs. Love Stevie miss him very much, that was a very sad day!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Notice both guitars upside down, in honor of Jimmi Hendrix that played left hand but learned on a right hander because its all he had. Stevie Rays idol is Jimmi Hendrix
Top Notch World Class Blues! At the beginning of the song, Stevie is playing rhythm & the really cool licks in the background are coming from Jeff! When Jeff stands up, he has to "hug" his guitar because he has no strap...That is incredible how he can play like that. 2 good friends giving us an incredible performance & having a great time . This is one of my all time favorite SRV videos because he's playing with Jeff...It just doesn't get any better for me!
They received a write-up in Toronto's NOW magazine, and soon were playing almost nightly in local clubs, such as Grossman's Tavern and the famed blues club Albert's Hall (where Jeff Healey was discovered by guitarists Stevie Ray Vaughan and Albert Collins).
Great job. You guys should really watch Stevie Ray Vaughan doing "Look at Little Sister" live at Austin City Limits 1989. Once the middle eight begins, pay close attention to his guitar strings. I don't want to tell you what happens next or I will ruin the video. I promise you that you will be impressed. Another thing, If you look at the guitar he plays most of the time (Number 1) it has a left handed guitar Tremolo (Whammy Bar) installed. It is a long story on how that came about. I wont get into that now. I grew up in North Dallas and Stevie grew up in Oak Cliff, a suburb of Dallas on the South Side at the same time. Unfortunately for me, we never knew each other. Another one you should see is "Life Without you" at the Capital Theater 1985. Pay very close attention during the first 30 seconds of the song. Hint: his guitar changes from red to white. Most people never notice what is happening and never see the guitar change. When you watch Stevie play, never blink or you might miss something.
How did I miss this video? It is an all-timer in the world of RVC . It has it all -- Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jeff Healey , Look At Little Sister , and Phil and Sam . Both the song and the reaction video are way too short.
I was fortunate to see both of these legends live, the last time with Jeff he opened for the Allman Brothers Band!! I first saw Stevie before he recorded his first album, then again a few times after he made it big! I've been fortunate to see many legends before their passing, BB King, John Lee Hooker, Gregg Allman, Johnny Winter, Bobby Bland (he and BB King got a 1 hour standing ovation before the police had to push the crowd out), Led Zeppelin shortly before John Bohnam's passing, Motorhead before Lemmy passed, etc..
Jeff was incredible I never got to see him live but he had a guitarist that toured with him named Phillip sayce he his also very good he played rhythm for the most part but one live show something happened to Jeff’s amp or pedal board and he said take it Phillip and he played the rest of the song, from what I understand Jeff and Stevie were really good friends
So, guys... Stevie Ray took up guitar because his older brother, Jimmie played. You should check out Stevie Ray and Jimmie playing together. And when I say "together"...I mean something that you've never seen before. ruclips.net/video/TdmlEZAWYIM/видео.html
Stevie's brother Jimmie was lead guitar for The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and they made an album together called Family Style. If you haven't check out Pride and Joy, and there's a video of SRV doing a 20 minute pre-concert sound check that's better than some bands' concerts.
For an intro into the origins of modern blues, you have to start with KINDHEARTED WOMAN from Robert Johnson, and then jump to MANNISH BOY from Muddy Waters.
@@barsandbarbells2022 You are so welcome! I love collaborations and this one is Top Notch! Phil definitely needs to get a SRV hat! Heck, both of you should! God bless and have a great weekend.

This one has Stevie playing his lefty guitar with the righty neck. If anyone knows of an article where he explains why he only did that for one guitar, I'd love a heads up on where to read more about it.
I’ve known Jeff’s music since before I knew he was blind!! It wasn’t until I saw Road House that I saw he was “ A Blind White Boy” as Patrick called him. But Stevie’s music is and always wil be immortal. And I’m sorry to all the Stevie, and Jeff die hard fans out there. Hey. Don't let anything hold ya back from being the best of anything. They both were on point with the music....I bet a ticket stub from that concert is worth $500 at least.
IMO, the only currently performing guitarist/singer who can match SRV is Joe Bonamassa. You saw him with Beth Hart…beautiful blues playing by Joe. But you need to see some of his blues rock where he also sings; Goin’ Down….live at The Greek, for instance.. or The Ballad of John Henry, live at The Royal Albert Hall.

SRV and Albert King was the 2 men that discovered Jeff Healey in a Club and they knew right then that this boy was a very very special person .
If you didn't hear this before, SRV actually is the one who FOUND Jeff Healey and introduced the world to him, so this explains videos like this.
