He continues the solo with a broken string and if you weren't watching, you wouldn't know. He waits till the break in the song, nods his head, and like a NASCAR pit crew his tech runs out and he's playing again before its even strapped up ❤
👏🙌‼️ how impressive was that switch out? Stevie gave his guitar techs so much experience with changing out guitars that they performed like a race car pit crew. Guys the only time I "listen" to Stevie Ray is in my car with cd's. His studio recordings are excellent, but with the exception of Riveria Paradise on the In Step album, you won't have a better experience than when you watch. His passion for performing for people is where most of the energy and magic lies. Keep going with the live performances✌️💙💙🎶
YES! And please, SOMEBODY do his live Capitol theater performance of "Couldn't Stand the Weather"! from 1985!..Phenomenal!..Also, Reese' solo is even WAY better on that one, if you can believe it..Trust me on this one!
Its a bit like Elvis...u just HAVE to see the performance...albums are good but live is on another level...its the sheer channelling of the music/song that is almost a religious experience!!
Stevie Ray never failed to amaze me. He took a Larry Davis tune, "Texas Flood", and covered it so well that it defied description. Then, he took "Look at Little Sister", first recorded by Henry "Hank" Ballard and the Midnighters, and made it into this masterpiece. If you would care to hear Hank's original recording, here 'tis: ruclips.net/video/7d7Yn2pe1HE/видео.html. I'm 82 years old and Stevie Ray's talent still blows what little mind I have left.
🎸Wonder no more why Stevie's legacy keeps growing. If anyone has has earned and deserves his place as a true Legend in music history, it is SRV. In an interview he quietly and simply said that his talent was as gift from God that he tried hard to repay. Paid in full, Stevie. Paid in full. 🙏🔥
Saw SRV all over Austin and San Marcos Texas for years and years. Only once did I see him off stage. He was dating a younger Lou Ann Barton, arm in arm walking across 6th Street. I was so star struck all I could say was "Hey what's up Stevie?" Hey looks over and beams a smile I suppose a wink and whatever he said I honestly am not sure but he was really happy and Lou Ann had this huge smile looking at him when he glances at me and said something friendly. I had seen or heard him outside of Cheatham St Warehouse so many times I shouldn't have been awestruck and tongue tied. Anyway. He was as nice as his reputation. Almost angelic in his aura. You'll read that elsewhere. He was truly the nicest guy in show business of the era I'll bet. Especially considering he was the most talented person of his era, he stayed kind and humble and down to Earth.
@@Greg-io1ip I just replied to @midnitesunblues that his (or her) comment brought a tear to my eye. Then I read your reply that instantly brought a tear to my other eye. Heck, more than one, to both eyes. I've read 3 books about Stevie & you're right, so many people have commented on that almost angelic aura. He had such a beautiful heart & soul. Thank you so much for sharing that memory with us. 💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙🌿💙
Y'all have got to do the SRV video for Cold Shot. Many of your questions will be answered about his guitars. Plus it's filmed in Austin and has a ton of humor to it. Thanks for all your reviews....great job!
SRV live performance on any given performance. In live venues it felt even better. But we took it for granted seeing him so often. His warm up mic checks were the best. He'd slip in and out of Zeppelin, Sabbath, Deep Purple etc whatever he heard on the ride over or background. Just fiddling around. Jeff Beck riffs like in his sleep.
You were mentioning liking the live videos so you can see him play and check out his fit. Legend has it that Stevie dressed like that ALL the time, not just for shows. If he went to the grocery store on a Sunday morning he’d sport the same style. He owned it!!!!! Guitarist like SRV have full time guitar techs, that’s their whole job to tune and maintain his guitars.
This was the first song I ever heard from SRV. I was in downtown Atl. and I stopped at a liquor store to get some beer and when I got back in my truck and the radio came on, this is what I heard. I've been hooked ever since.
Well if you want some serious blues check out SRV & Albert King, In Session recorded in studio for a TV special. It’s freaking amazing! Also for early classic SRV swag, check out his live at Montreux 1982 performance where he hadn’t even received a recording contract yet. The first song is Hide Away & continue with a more blues Dirty Pool, my personal favorite.
Can't click fast enough when you guys react to SRV! The one I'm waiting for is "Third stone from the Sun" live at The El Macombo...you'll be speechless💯👈
Stevie Ray Vaughan owned 34 guitar's, Guitar Center bought Stevie Ray's guitar that he named #1 for $625,000 and they take it to their stores around the USA for display, it has the 13gage strings, they let people try to play it. Jimmie inherited Stevie Ray's estate, alot of his thing are at a music museum in Texas. Jimmie plays on alot of Stevie Ray's albums, whenever you hear 2 guitar's playing it's Jimmie Vaughan. Stevie Ray also plays the drums and Saxophone, Stevie Ray is playing drums on The Sky Is Crying album on the song The Sky Is Crying. Stevie Ray and Jimmie were working on an album called Family Style but Stevie Ray passed away before the could finish it, I still say Tic-Tock is sooo worth a listen, Stevie Ray has a powerful message and Jimmie has old home movies of Jimmie and Stevie when they were very little.
Get it Reese! Srv does so much ,first it's hard to not want to watch his live performance and second it's so good you just want to close your eyes and feel it . I think that just another reason I have to replay him over and over .
That piano though! Thank y'all for reacting to this. "Pride and Joy" is another banger, if you haven't reacted to it. Anything by SRV is worth a listen. RIP Stevie.
In Step & Couldn't Stand the Weather are his go to Studio albums. What is often overlooked is that it was Stevie and his Band (Double Trouble). Those three guys were his brothers. They backed Stevie all the way, wherever he went musically, and NEVER missed a beat or a cue. Fabulous musicians.
I love the respect you two show towards SRV and all of the other greats. I absolutely adore SRV and will not pass by any reaction to his music. He is much better live, but I do have a few of his studio albums. Strange thing, until about 4 years ago, I had never listened to blues. My husband had been after me to check out SRV. I am ashamed to say that I never wanted to listen to him before because I am a hard rocker. I finally watched one of his performances, Texas Flood/live, and was hooked on SRV. I missed out on so much great music because I was just stubborn. RIP SRV 🎸🎶
What you guy's were saying about it being a keyboard song and then Stevie takes it back and breaks a string, The whole group ,Stevie, Double trouble and the guitar tec and support guys were so in tune with each other there's only one thing to call them, professionals. Love your review's.
I was privileged to see SRV live numerous times in the 80’s in Austin & Corpus Christi. (The drummer, Chris Layton is a native of CC). There is an actual statue of SRV in Austin. He was the GOAT as far as I’m concerned. RIP Stevie Ray. 💔🙏🏻
The current record for a Formula-1 pit stop is about 2.5 seconds. . I think if SRV and his guitar tech switched to being F-1 crew, they could cut that excessive time down to about 1.6 nanoseconds.
With the great Buddy Guy at 87 on his Damn Right Farewell Tour, it would be great of y'all could react to his music. His powerful voice, incredible guitar playing is worth it. Another legend. The goat! Guys I keep telling y’all to play “leave my girl alone” and “tightrope” from that same live show from Austin city limits.
Seen these performances many times and I’m constantly in awe. An amazing talent and a GOAT for sure. Love your SRV reactions.
