This is the installation guide for the eXtremeRate Steam Deck OLED FACE clicky kit. The installation is medium-low, you need to deal with some screws and flex cables.

I'm in awe in how good the instructions are. To not only explain in very clear detail what to do, but also including graphics for screw locations, images of the screws, and biggest of all, including small reminders on where someone could make a mistake. So excellent.

i bought the kit and went for it. ..i did the dpad only, not the abxy buttons, and the dpad is excellent now, it's perfectly accurate and the difference is huge

@@LittleWingedKuribo i powered off my steam deck, removed the sd card and then took off the back cover of the steam deck. i didn't disconnect the battery. i then went straight to the section of this video called 'dpad clicky button installation' (6:39) and i then followed the video guide except i didn't heat the original dpad button fpc because it peels off without any problems, ..it just requires a firm pull/peel. Removing the trigger (6:41) feels weird because it feels like it's going to break, it's an odd motion but i managed it eventually despite it feeling like it was going to be damaged. The improvement to the dpad from stock to clicky is wonderful with regards to accuracy and feel but be aware the click of the dpad buttons is a bit loud, i wish it was a bit quieter but it's still a brilliant dpad upgrade anyway
I have had hard time removing the trigger; ended up using included spudger, as seen in iFixit's instruction. Also for ABXY I've applied just enough amount of kapton tape across the back of buttons in order to eliminate rattling. overall super happy with the kit!
This is a great guide! I just wanna replace the ABXY buttons for Nintendo's format, but I'm happy I found this!!

i finally installed them removing the triggers had me scared i thought i would brake them but the installation is so worth it
I just got my clicky kit plus transparent orange face buttons and triggers..nervous and excited to get home from work n get started..so far I've only replaced sticks with hall effect so this would b my 2nd time doing surgery thanks for this instruction I feel pretty good about my chances now with screwing anything up

i didn't heat the original dpad button fpc (shown at 8:47), i just tried to peel it off without heat and it peeled off with very little effort and nothing was damaged plus no old glue remained. ...so in my opinion you can skip the heat part

nice video! one thing you should know: no one says "FPC" in the west - they say "PCB".
Thanks for let us know, FPC means flex printed circuit while PCB is printed circuit board, we get used with them to distinguish the soft or hard board
@@ExtremeRate oh yeah, in that case the usual term being used is FlexPCB. It's just a matter of what people are used to, that's all.
@@cheater00 I've never once heard anyone say FlexPCB in the USA at least. Always FPC or PCB.

How much better is the responsiveness than the stock pads? And if they are better any chance of coming out with a silent kit?
We are studying on the silent version since even we find a suitable silent switch, the noise from the button hit the shell when it rebond still there.

It's great to see parts for the OLED start rolling out. If these are more responsive than the stock buttons, then how about a silent version? In addition, when are the custom buttons and shells coming?

@ExtremeRate Thanks for the reply. Can't wait for the shells and buttons to hit the market. I like the green shell, however, Emerald Green is a little to light for my taste. How about a dark green? Like the green on the Translucent Green OG Xbox, or even a Jungle Green like on a N64? Those would look pretty damn sick.
I need to be convinced the D-Pad will be more responsive, especially for retro gaming. Can anyone help? Is it worth the hassle? Thank you.
hell yes it's definitely worth it for retro gaming or any gaming, ..my dpad is now brilliant accurate responsive etc. it's pretty easy to do and works perfectly
the dpad is imporve but the button I feel too hard so i dont use the ABXY just dpad
If anybody buys this, only do your D-Pad, I’ve had these for about 3-4 months & I don’t press my buttons hard, all is working fine but the A button doesn’t really click anymore

I have a question I recently purchased the clicky triggers for bdm 020 controller and after install the L2 and L1 aren’t working do you have any idea why that is ? I would really appreciate some help/feedback
