After Classics IV disbanded, some of the members got together in the 70's and formed Atlanta Rhythm Section. In 1979, they released greater extended version of this song with added keyboard and guitar solos. The 1979 version is far better an worth checking out. Other great ARS songs are "So Into You" and "Imaginary Lover".
This is one of the first songs I fell in love with the first time I listened to it, wish I could hear it again to experience that feeling again. Loved this reaction, you totally felt that. This and Stormy our two of my favorite songs of all time.
Mike Sharpe (real name Mike Shapiro) wrote and performed the original version as an instrumental. MS is a saxophonist. The 45 was a minor hit on Liberty records. It is on YT, worth checking out.
The country, the city and foremost neighbourhood growing up and experience for many years and through my ears when this song came out on the radio was and still is intense. That early evening (20.30 hrs.) there was a full moon and all the roofs on top of houses reflecting the light blue moonshine. Melody, instrumentals and lyrics are so well put together. This song is not a 10 but a 10 PLUS.
Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS) released a version of this in the late 70s.They have a great catalogue, they were huge on radio mid to late 70's in the southeast U.S.,great southern rock band to check out.
A couple more of their best hits are Stormy and Every Day With You Girl. However, no ... it wasn't a different group the later covered this song ... the group The Classics IV later reformed (core members) as Atlanta Rhythm Section, and THEY are the ones who redid this song ... with THREE (3) awesome solos. You should listen/react to that version (studio).
1st REAL band I ever saw live...I was 12.......in 1969....Summer Beach Party put on by the city........I wanted to learn to play the sax after seeing them...............
Shawn this is just 1 of the many great songs we would listen to as we were driving down Whittier Blvd on a Saturday night, as always thank you for another great tune.
It's one of those songs when you hear it as dusk in October-you get that late Autumn feel when the leaves have turned psychedelic and are starting to fall. Atlanta Rhythm section is made up of members from the remnants of the Classics IV hence the remake.
🔥🔥🔥HOT from the 1st time I heard it. Well Shawn, you know I love R.E.M. They covered this song and there’s a RUclips video called “R.E.M. Spooky live I don’t know the words.” One of the fans grabbed the lyric sheet, and you should see how Michael Stipe gets the lyrics back from the fan. Funny. Here’s the video ruclips.net/video/H3QRG8L974E/видео.htmlsi=nxZWs8ESr3sA6dxR
Wow, they only version I had ever known was the one by Atlanta Rhythm Section, which is amazing. Atlanta Rhythm Section is a great band btw. I never associated this song with Halloween though. The original is a little before my time, and I don't remember ever hearing it on the radio in the late 70s or early 80s.
Great soft rock band from the 60's. Their biggest hits were "Spooky", "Stormy" & "Traces".
How could anyone not like this? It's got such a good groove! Takes me back to school days.

To me the original singer is so much better and on beat with the timing!
i love the haunting background-oooooo

The 70's were so cool, funky and groovy I think we used it all up.😁

A fantastic classic tune with both great vocals and instrumentals!
Fantastic song 👌! Brings back so many memories

"Everyday (one word😉)With You Girl" is one to check out as well as "Stormy" as you mentioned.
Glad to see you enjoying more of The Classics IV, they have some really nice songs.
I really liked this one and "Traces" back in the day.
Thank you for taking my request
The lead singer for the Classics IV was Dennis Yost. RIP
You did "Traces" and "Spooky"....next is "Stormy"! 😅
Yes!
Another great band that started in Jacksonville, Florida ❤
Yes someone that finally did this version. Great reaction.
Atlanta Rhythm Section, is definitely worth a listen t, there version, some original members in that band also and the Guitar work is amazing.
Honestly this and the Atlanta Rhythm Section version are both so good. Each have elements the other doesn’t but I like both equally.
My favorite by these guys is Stormy.
Awesome! Look forward to hearing it 😁
Both versions of this song are amazing. I believe that the classic IV later transformed into The Alanta Rythem Section and put out some great music.
Such a great tune !!!!
Thanks brings back my teenage years😂
Heard it today on my oldies radio station!!!!
A year round hit!!
It's in steady rotation on work playlist for me
"So I propose on Halloween"...that is my favorite lyric in this song.
Another throw back suggestion: Treat Her Like a Lady by Cornelious Brothers and Sister Rose
One of my favorites from the 60’s and 70’s! Love your reactions 👵🏼💙✌🏼
24 Hrs of Loneliness & Nobody loves You But Me are two really great underrated tunes from Classics IV
Atlantic Rhythm Section version was in big rotation back in the 70’s (radio) need to check it out ❤️ 1972
Love this song. I haven't heard it in years. I also have the record. But my favorit song by them is Traces. But it makes me cry.
Don’t forget to review ‘Every Day With You’ by the Classics IV❣️
Classic IV were my favorite groups of the 60's
You're right! Released in October of '67, right after the 'Summer of Love'.
Spooky is their best.
Definitely check out Atlanta Rhythm Section remake of this.

Thank you! I am a really old Santana fan, but I don't remember that! Will be looking that up right away!
Shawn this is just 1 of the many great songs we would listen to as we were driving down Whittier Blvd on a Saturday night, as always thank you for another great tune.
Great song and great band.
Check out live ARS version with two very fine guitar solos by Barry Baily. Better all 'round version!
🥰🥰🥰
I'm kinda guessing you dug it! Oh Stor-r-r-r-m-y! You'll love it too.

This never gave me Halloween vibes. It was just a good groove and a cool song.

former members formed ARS
@@tomh1754 that could explain why ARS has the vibe that this song embodies.
Do Stormy and Traces!!
Stormy is left, I have done Traces 😊
@@ShawnSalvadori you’ll love Stormy!! Really enjoy your reactions. Hi from Arkansas
Nice slow Cha-Cha!
Nothing to do with Halloween! LOL!
Well it does say Halloween in the song itself, so I beg to differ lol
The non original version by Dusty Springfield is much better snd was in La Piscine a french movie
