I can explain since you clearly didn't watch the show or read the book: Count Olaf wanted to marry violet for the fortune they got so Count Olaf tried marrying her to access the Bouldilaire fortune. The Bouldilaires parents were killed in a fire. Count Olaf adopted them. Violet may only be 14 but with permission of legal guardian (Count Olaf) it was perfectly legal. Count Olaf got a marriage document from the court and pretended it was for a show. Hope this helped!

If you think he was bad in the show, wait until you read the books. I love Neil Patrick Harris but Count Olaf was definitely dialed down A LOT in the show
he was doing it for money, and the others thought it was in a play, he did seem hella creepy tho but i think he gives ace vibes he just want money, theres also a lot of sad stuff in his story so its hard to really understand all of it. i wish there were more books/series explaining it all you know? so much interesting plot.

@4Hello_Hawaii4 Yeah, he did. He tried flirting with her before the marriage. He was talking about how it wouldn't be so bad to be in the same house with him for the rest of her life, meaning he would be in..yk..the same bed.
OK. before you talk about the age gap he wasn't trying to marry her to just be her husband he was trying to marry her so he could get the Baudelaire fortune but I do agree with you that it is a big age gap so just a reminder (no hate :D)
Apparently count Olaf a very bad guy to them and so he wants owned them but he was like very rude and there was like about 170 something chores and they had to do all of them they they even prepared pasta and it was so hard to find all the ingredients they’ve been digging around and when she when Violet bring out the dinner she’s like where is the beef?
Yea they don’t know in some countries it’s normal. One from my relatives married at age 14 to an older man. They are still married and happy couples to this day 💖
for those who might not know about this part, Count Olaf is the man shown in the edit so He is a short film actor who wanted to make a play with violet since their parents were kidnapped and the kid's were sent to there (1st guardian) later he forces violet to be his wife for the PLAY which is not true because he wanted to marry her for the baudelier's wealth and money so he signs the paper so does she but her sign is fake this edit is just for some fun but they don't get married TRUST ME I WATCHED IT 400000000 TIMES
This has been in the book since it was published in the early 2000s, and you're just finding out about this now? He isn't even planning on loving her or doing anything inappropriate. The whole scheme is to steal the fortune. His actual reason for all these schemes is explained in the 12th book, The Penultimate Peril. He has no romantic desire for Violet herself. No desire at all. Granted, how he treated the siblings is still wrong. That doesn't mean what he's doing is in THAT way.
I agree, it was based on the book series and the 3 seasons cover the whole book series. The biggest problem is that the last one, The End, was the longest book but the shortest episode.
