AirClips.com was grated exclusive access to join a fantastic flight aboard Air Austral's neat Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from the paradise island of La Reunion in the Indian Ocean right across Madagascar into the small island of Mayotte. Enjoy a fantastic in-flight product and a very pleasant time with Air Austral's amazing crew! The great highlight is the breathtaking landing into what is the world's most challenging runway regularly served by Dreamliners.
This is part 1 of two parts, whereby in part 2 the same crew will continue their flight nonstop from Mayotte to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport, France.

I have landed here many times in an Embraer E190 and for us its very challenging because of the short runway, terrain and non precision approach. To see a Boeing 787 land in that distance, I have nothing but respect for the crew

It must be very strange for a pilot to fly for hours, arrive at destination airport to get in his car to go home. Here you are flying this huge machine in the air for hours and now you get in a small car to drive home. I wonder if the pilot also does a mental checklist before starting his car? LOL!!! And once he gets home and in his driveway, if he has a set shut down procedure or checklist as well in his head! LOL! :)

Would the runway has been long enough without reverse thrust? that doesnt look like you can land a 787 without reversers

Nice landing. To save others the time... FMCZ's runways are just 6332ft long. They seem to be planning a longer one.

They use instruments for locale not visual references. Pilots are taught in school how to fly with a hood over their eyes to force them to count on instruments.
