He started asking his study conductor about 1914, they kept telling him not to concern himself about it!! After keep calling me, I struggled to make a forceful enough description of how ridiculous the overlapping generation theory is. In the end Lloyd, I pointed him to one of your old videos on it. He called me over Christmas saying he's no longer studying. as they cannot ,and will not, answer any of the points you made about 1914. So amazing work Lloyd, your videos are out there, working, telling the truth about the truth and working their magic. Keep it up for 2018.

Ever since I left the Watchtower, my life has been better. It has been better in the following ways. One. I have had ulcers and other digestive issues that have gone away due to not being around people who were not genuine. I felt the congregation was spying on me or trying to get dirt on me. Two. I used to have panic attacks when going to the meetings or by elders who claim to have my best interest at heart. But, actually were wolves in sheep's clothing. Third. I am able to turn around my financial situation around. Taking care of myself financially first has helped to ease my mind. Watchtower's consistent badgering of helping them financially with all their financial needs caused me financial issues. Watchtower needs to lead by example by simplifying their lives first. Fourth. False, slanderous, stories about me caused more frustration and hurt. This was an additional factor in my digestive issues and when trying to tell Elders that I needed some help in resolving these issues, the elders did nothing. Absolutely nothing. They told me that it was not their problem, but your problem. My advice to others is not to let this organization get you down. Their superficial fantasy world is just that. An act of fiction. Getting an education that is geared to getting the job you are good at. It is the most important thing in your life. Do what you are good at. Not what Watchtower wants you to do. Pull your own strings. Focus on how you can contribute to human society. Not freezing your butt in the middle of winter where no doors open.

Another quick thought. Anthony Morris III telling people that they promote full-time pioneering instead of pursuing a higher education is unrealistic and outright foolish. I’m suffering for depression and anxiety too but about 4 year ago I stared meditation and feel better it the beginning I was scared besucas jw always said that practicing meditation is demonic . But know a feel better for all the sintoms of depresion and anxiety I have like 3 month that I don’t go to the meeting and that make me feel so good . But I feel sometimes that people in congregation ara watching me . They are looking for me calling even knocking in my door . They don’t even text me that they are going to be there and that make me feel very scared and uncomfortable.

34:55 -- imagine if a Jehovah's Witness child was very ill with cancer, and a classmate of his comes by to cheer him up, seemingly innocently. He arrives together with his parents, but disappears into the bedroom to the sick classmate. When the JW parents come in later, they discover that the visiting child sees himself as a missionary for Catholicism and is busy showing the JW child pictures of St. Peregrine, the patron saint associated with cancer, and urges the JW child to ask Peregrine and the virgin Mary to intercede for him! The parents of the visiting child were in on the game and were essentially there to distract the JW parents while their kid did his best to convert the JW child to Catholicism. JUST HOW WELL WOULD THIS GO DOWN WITH THE JW PARENTS?
Wow, that music video is just plain creepy. I've never seen so many dead stares and fake smiles trapped in one place. It kind of reminded me of The Simpsons episode "Treehouse of Horror II: The Bart Zone", where Bart forces all the citizens of Springfield to smile and think happy thoughts.......... or else. And yes, it's a parody of The Twilight Zone episode "It's a Good Life". As Lloyd Evans commented in this video, I no longer recognize this religion.
That video about the little boy and the birthday card is simply awful. I remember going through this as a child, my mum is a JW but the rest of my family were never in the cult. The emotional pull between my mum, the cult and my family was a nightmare growing up.

I have to make this point, as I'm a filmmaker, and still associated with the Witnesses. The "Remember the Wife of Lot" video has that scene you pointed out, where Gloria is turned to salt. If I, emphasis on I. If I made a film that featured something like that, it wouldn't be okay by any means to the Witnesses; but the minute Watchtower makes a video featuring it, it's suddenly okay, and even called "cool". After I finished the convention my aunt told me how "cool" it was when she was turned to salt, and she proceeded to make a couple sound effects afterwards... anyway it's not my point. My point is that it's suddenly okay if Watchtower does something that would normally be considered not okay by their standards. Similarly an elder said that he saw some game in a JW Broadcast and he concluded, since it was in there, that it was okay, it must be. It just boggles my mind the way these people think, and keep in mind I was one, and, technically speaking am still one. I had something to say about homosexuality but I'll withhold that comment since this one has droned on. Rant over. Just something I noticed. Thanks again for these videos, I and many others appreciate them very much.
As I watch this video, there is a seething rage building up inside of me as one WT video is worse than the previous one! What a horrible organization! All I can say is "Wow" as I listen to the talk blaming parents and children when abuse has occurred! The last talk was absolutely unbelievable!
born in 67, I can remember what it was like as a young child living through 1975. it gave me insomnia. as the oldest of 4 kids, I remember waiting and watching at night (he comes like a thief in the night) I felt the need to keep on the watch so I could warn my family if it came. This was especially hard anxiety wise, if my parents were out for the night, I was very anxious till they got home.
as a JW in 1975, I clearly recall the move by the society that encourage JW's to leave the world entirely and make ready for the end. So many talks, publications and elders encouraged that belief. I was, and am a believer in life. I left the organization when I knew it was no longer 'the truth.'
I'm a Jehovah's witness in the process of waking up and man!! My family (Worldly by jw terms)has always considered me the most intelligent and yet these past 15 years I feel like the most stupid for not exercising common sense and taking the time to step outside and look inward at this organization when it came to things that would make me pause when I heard certain being said or changes being made. Conventions had always been the highlight of my year, looked forward to seeing the latest videos and talking about them out in service the next week. This year I woke up one morning and decided just out of the blue I wasn't going to the convention guess my common sense kicked into my sub-conscience and the de-programming has begun, Thank you, John, for helping me look at the other side of the coin.

LOL --I kept my composure until the end musical clip...ghastly...I'm reminded of The Lawrence Welk show that used to play EVERY Saturday on PBS in the United States. Even what they were wearing was almost "period correct" for that cheesy train wreck. A "thrilling" song...how dull does someone's life to have be to describe that interlude as "thrilling" with a straight face? How could the audience be swaying to that? That music video reminded me of a song from an Irish comedy called Father Ted, it's basically a parody song that was made up by priests, but the quality and fakeness adds to the humour so it's difficult to take this music video seriously.

I was raised as a jw. Even though I was deep in the closet and still attending meetings when I watched that, it was still soul crushing to hear my mum calling homosexually the same or even worse than pedophilia.
I got baptized at 10! BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! I believed the end was right around the corner and the fear of Armageddon seriously affected my mental health and gave me extreme anxiety. When I was 12 I started noticing the holes in the jw organization. I left the religion and I had a lot of family/friends cut me off because I left. To this day my parents tell me that I’m not the same person I was when I got baptized. I’m now 21 🤦🏻♀️. I love them all with all my heart and they’re honestly good people, but they’re so lost and caught up in a fantasy.
I have this Orwellian picture in my head of someone in a cubicle receiving a copy of a Watchtower or Awake! article with the instructions “Rectify”. The changes are made and the old copies are tossed down the memory hole. The congregations simply resort to “doublethink” and believe the “New Light”.
I was only four, but my mum remembers "there was this really sweet chap" at her work, and everyone was asking where he was on that Friday. The boss said he had taken the day off "as the world was going to end"! I think they thought it would happen overnight! Well, obviously, he had to come in, rather sheepishly, on the Monday morning. Aw, bless him.
I'm quite pissed of with ex-JW running with the Christmas shit... 1st, it pretends to be religious: one good reason to flee. 2nd it's a f###ing commercial trap... Never in history my family (both sides) EVER have celebrated Xmas, anarchist, anticlerical, etc...Only my parents didn't do it for other reasons (WT's ones)... It's not because WT is bad that WE HAVE to fall in all the traps around. I was in the WT from 1960 to 1984, I was a regular pioneer, a special pioneer and attended the 1 month Kingdom Ministry School in Upstate NY for Congregation Overseers. The years leading up to 1975 were full of talks and fear mongering regarding 1975. If, as in that video, anyone would have openly doubted that date or tried to reason out with anyone that the date may not be accurate, that person would have been sitting in front of a committee and threatened with being DF’d if it continued. I was friends with a couple with 4 children who sold their home, their business and most of their possessions. They kept enough to live until Oct of 75 and sent the rest of the money to the WT. They were held up as a shining example from he platform of what we should all be doing, Seeing what the WT is saying now, blaming the congregations for the 75 debacle, makes me angry because that is an outright lie.
My children have been thoroughly warned about religious kids and their families. My middle daughter has a VERY religious friend, and she's constantly worrying about her and about how she's treated.
I am not a Witness, but I was baptized into Christ at 11 years old. I am now 22. I knew exactly what I was doing, though naturally I have grown in my understanding and faith in 11 years. I could have made the commitment even earlier, as far as I am concerned. I imagine your problem with children being baptized is less about age as much as it is your view of religion. If a 10 year old said they were gay, I have a hard time believing you'd think ,"what could a 10 year old possibly know about their sexuality!" Well, probably as much as they do about their religion. And if as time passes a person chooses to leave, they can leave the faith. But you cannot fault a young person for making a profession of faith simply because they are young.

As someone who's going into academics and occasionally grades papers for professors, it's incredibly annoying when students try to assert their religious dogma over the real information. I know this is a problem I'm going to encounter regularly for the rest of my career, and I'm not looking forward to it.

Mr Evans, your comment on Mark Noumair is exactly what I thought when I watched 2017 Dec JWBC monthly program. The episode of Rizpah is totally distorted to fit in to WT totalianism. In the last few minutes, he spoke a serious misstatement in the name of Jehovah - I believe this guy shall die shortly because he acted as a false prophet; he really talked like a representative of Jehovah while the Bible is silent about the evaluation of Rizpah. I was so shocked by the conclusion of this guy's talk that I checked how this talk was translated into Hebrew (by reproducing the Hebrew subtitle as a text file on my computer), to make sure of what lines are the Hebrew bible message and what are WT fantasies, literally line by line. Yes, "spirituality רוחניות " is not compatible with the concept of original Hebrew Scriptures or Israelite religion. And, alas, the propaganda distribution will be intensified by delivering the erroneous message to be translated into as many languages as they can through "Remote Translation Volunteers"......

As a Trinitarian I have to ask this: there is one organisation who are identified as the Faithful and Descreet slave... this is the Governing Body and it is made up of 7 members. So how many faithful and descreet slaves are there? One or seven? Are they each individually the faithful and descreet slave or together are they the faithful and descreet slave?

29:00 re: baptized at ten. I was not JW, was in another denomination, but I was also encouraged by a parent to get baptized at ten. (In the denomination I was in, there was no penalty for leaving if baptized, such as shunning). I agreed and got baptized. But one thing my parent said that kind of still bugs me was, "who you are at ten is generally the person you're going to be." No, no it isn't. Your brain is still under construction...I understand that someone can have empathy and good character at age ten, but they certainly aren't "the person they're going to be."

I'm glad you included the Rizpah bit in the top 10, I also thought it was a bizarre choice of scripture for Noumair to use as a basis for his talk. I also found all 5 talks to give messages that I felt were rather condescending to the audience, i.e., don't complain, don't get fixated on titles, don't be arrogant, etc. It made me wonder what the attrition rate (i.e., leaving the JWs) was in a typical Gilead class. If anyone has any data or estimates on that I would be curious to know.

I am able to turn around my financial situation around. Taking care of myself financially first has helped to ease my mind. Watchtower's consistent badgering of helping them financially with all their financial needs caused me financial issues. Watchtower needs to lead by example by simplifying their lives first. Fourth. False, slanderous, stories about me caused more frustration and hurt. This was an additional factor in my digestive issues and when trying to tell Elders that I needed some help in resolving these issues, the elders did nothing. Absolutely nothing. They told me that it was not their problem, but your problem. My advice to others is not to let this organization get you down. Their superficial fantasy world is just that. An act of fiction. Getting an education that is geared to getting the job you are good at. It is the most important thing in your life. Do what you are good at. Not what Watchtower wants you to do. Pull your own strings. Focus on how you can contribute to human society. Not freezing your butt in the middle of winter where no doors open.
I wish I could freeze my butt. Here in Brazil the problem is heat!!!

I’m suffering for depression and anxiety too but about 4 year ago I stared meditation and feel better it the beginning I was scared besucas jw always said that practicing meditation is demonic . But know a feel better for all the sintoms of depresion and anxiety I have like 3 month that I don’t go to the meeting and that make me feel so good . But I feel sometimes that people in congregation ara watching me . They are looking for me calling even knocking in my door . When the JW parents come in later, they discover that the visiting child sees himself as a missionary for Catholicism and is busy showing the JW child pictures of St. Peregrine, the patron saint associated with cancer, and urges the JW child to ask Peregrine and the virgin Mary to intercede for him! The parents of the visiting child were in on the game and were essentially there to distract the JW parents while their kid did his best to convert the JW child to Catholicism. JUST HOW WELL WOULD THIS GO DOWN WITH THE JW PARENTS?

I grew up hearing these words over and over and over, and to this day... YEARS after the fact.. it still makes me squeamish.
I have to make this point, as I'm a filmmaker, and still associated with the Witnesses. The "Remember the Wife of Lot" video has that scene you pointed out, where Gloria is turned to salt. If I, emphasis on I. If I made a film that featured something like that, it wouldn't be okay by any means to the Witnesses; but the minute Watchtower makes a video featuring it, it's suddenly okay, and even called "cool". After I finished the convention my aunt told me how "cool" it was when she was turned to salt, and she proceeded to make a couple sound effects afterwards... anyway it's not my point. My point is that it's suddenly okay if Watchtower does something that would normally be considered not okay by their standards.
Similarly an elder said that he saw some game in a JW Broadcast and he concluded, since it was in there, that it was okay, it must be.
It just boggles my mind the way these people think, and keep in mind I was one, and, technically speaking am still one.
I had something to say about homosexuality but I'll withhold that comment since this one has droned on.

born in 67, I can remember what it was like as a young child living through 1975. it gave me insomnia. as the oldest of 4 kids, I remember waiting and watching at night (he comes like a thief in the night) I felt the need to keep on the watch so I could warn my family if it came. This was especially hard anxiety wise, if my parents were out for the night, I was very anxious till they got home.
as a JW in 1975, I clearly recall the move by the society that encourage JW's to leave the world entirely and make ready for the end. So many talks, publications and elders encouraged that belief. I was, and am a believer in life. I left the organization when I knew it was no longer 'the truth.'

I was raised as a jw. Even though I was deep in the closet and still attending meetings when I watched that, it was still soul crushing to hear my mum calling homosexually the same or even worse than pedophilia.
I got baptized at 10! BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! I believed the end was right around the corner and the fear of Armageddon seriously affected my mental health and gave me extreme anxiety. When I was 12 I started noticing the holes in the jw organization. I left the religion and I had a lot of family/friends cut me off because I left. To this day my parents tell me that I’m not the same person I was when I got baptized. I’m now 21 🤦🏻♀️. I love them all with all my heart and they’re honestly good people, but they’re so lost and caught up in a fantasy.

The boss said he had taken the day off "as the world was going to end"! I think they thought it would happen overnight! Well, obviously, he had to come in, rather sheepishly, on the Monday morning. All I can think of when watching the song video at the end is how sorry I feel for those women who are singing. Their clothes look like they got them at the Goodwill store, probably from some old lady's closet that had died and the relatives donated them. That is how I bought my clothes when I was in the org. so I know what they look like.

I was in the WT from 1960 to 1984, I was a regular pioneer, a special pioneer and attended the 1 month Kingdom Ministry School in Upstate NY for Congregation Overseers. The years leading up to 1975 were full of talks and fear mongering regarding 1975. If, as in that video, anyone would have openly doubted that date or tried to reason out with anyone that the date may not be accurate, that person would have been sitting in front of a committee and threatened with being DF’d if it continued. I was friends with a couple with 4 children who sold their home, their business and most of their possessions. They kept enough to live until Oct of 75 and sent the rest of the money to the WT. They were held up as a shining example from he platform of what we should all be doing, Seeing what the WT is saying now, blaming the congregations for the 75 debacle, makes me angry because that is an outright lie.

My children have been thoroughly warned about religious kids and their families. My middle daughter has a VERY religious friend, and she's constantly worrying about her and about how she's treated.
I am not a Witness, but I was baptized into Christ at 11 years old. I am now 22. I knew exactly what I was doing, though naturally I have grown in my understanding and faith in 11 years. I could have made the commitment even earlier, as far as I am concerned. I imagine your problem with children being baptized is less about age as much as it is your view of religion. If a 10 year old said they were gay, I have a hard time believing you'd think ,"what could a 10 year old possibly know about their sexuality!" Well, probably as much as they do about their religion. And if as time passes a person chooses to leave, they can leave the faith. But you cannot fault a young person for making a profession of faith simply because they are young.

As someone who's going into academics and occasionally grades papers for professors, it's incredibly annoying when students try to assert their religious dogma over the real information. I know this is a problem I'm going to encounter regularly for the rest of my career, and I'm not looking forward to it.

Mr Evans, your comment on Mark Noumair is exactly what I thought when I watched 2017 Dec JWBC monthly program. The episode of Rizpah is totally distorted to fit in to WT totalianism. In the last few minutes, he spoke a serious misstatement in the name of Jehovah - I believe this guy shall die shortly because he acted as a false prophet; he really talked like a representative of Jehovah while the Bible is silent about the evaluation of Rizpah.
I was so shocked by the conclusion of this guy's talk that I checked how this talk was translated into Hebrew (by reproducing the Hebrew subtitle as a text file on my computer), to make sure of what lines are the Hebrew bible message and what are WT fantasies, literally line by line. Yes, "spirituality רוחניות " is not compatible with the concept of original Hebrew Scriptures or Israelite religion.
And, alas, the propaganda distribution will be intensified by delivering the erroneous message to be translated into as many languages as they can through "Remote Translation Volunteers"......

29:00 re: baptized at ten. I was not JW, was in another denomination, but I was also encouraged by a parent to get baptized at ten. (In the denomination I was in, there was no penalty for leaving if baptized, such as shunning). I agreed and got baptized. But one thing my parent said that kind of still bugs me was, "who you are at ten is generally the person you're going to be." No, no it isn't. Your brain is still under construction...I understand that someone can have empathy and good character at age ten, but they certainly aren't "the person they're going to be."

I'm glad you included the Rizpah bit in the top 10, I also thought it was a bizarre choice of scripture for Noumair to use as a basis for his talk. I also found all 5 talks to give messages that I felt were rather condescending to the audience, i.e., don't complain, don't get fixated on titles, don't be arrogant, etc. It made me wonder what the attrition rate (i.e., leaving the JWs) was in a typical Gilead class. If anyone has any data or estimates on that I would be curious to know.
