Pete Christlieb = one of the best and most unrecognised tenor saxophonists of all time.
He's going to perform with me at my concert in a week or so
Often seen right behind Doc in the Tonight Show Band videos on RUclips. This was back in the Johnny Carson days.
The fun thing in those Golden Years was getting to see him playing small bars in the San Fernando Valley. They taped Johnny’s show in the afternoon and then were free to play at night where they liked. For me, it was Alfonse’s where I’d catch big Pete (great sense of humor) and also Ross Tompkins at the piano or the trumpet of Conti Candoli.
He was the player in Deacon Blues sax solo.
AMEN BROTHER!
I believe Pete Christlibe, is still the best tenor player..anywhere,,love ..Oh My What a great Player
So infectious and melodically and rhythmically infectious I have to call in every couple or three weeks to get another booster shot. Lori and Pete & co seem to have it all.
Love Pete. I used to go see him play at Dino's in Pasadena back when I was still in college. I learned more listening to him than I think I ever did in school.
Me too - I heard him at Dino's many many times. Great times!!!
@@kevindowning2919me too.
Always have loved Pete C's 110% soul based grooving solos!
What a great cut of this tune! Pete's low B flats are so fat. Lori's groove during her solo is wonderful. Would have loved to see this live.
+Alan Klingaman one of our best shows ever!
MAN! I love that look Pete gives the crown at the end! That look says, "I told yo' ass!" hehehe. Pete's one of the greatest!
Really nice band!! Some of Lori's chord voicings immediately brought Dave Brubeck to mind. Great drumming too! Wonderful groove!
I finally looked up Pete Christlieb after owning "Nighthawks at the Diner" for over a decade. I'm glad I did! This is exactly the kind of cool music I need more of in my life!
swistedfilms we all need more Pete!
