  • Sigs M17 P320 squares off with two Berettas. The Ken Hackathorn's IDPA Beretta and Langdon Tactical Beretta. Various Ammo tested. Can the M17 meet or beat the Hackathorn or Langdon M9. Let's find out together.
    This is the test and results from the side by side shoot out. This was a real-world test with two iconic gun models. We call it a blind test because we did not previously test the guns or the ammo. Some don't need or want explanation. But results need evaluated. Results sometimes do need explained. May not be results you expected or wanted but got to pay attention to the results. Here they are.
    We all know that no gun is the same no ammo the same. If you are not testing, you are guessing. Your gun could shoot differently. It will shoot differently.
    Head-to-head side by side. No fluff tests. And see who does win.
    These are two Iconic well-known handguns battling it out. Does it really matter which is more accurate? Does it matter you like Ford or Chevy. Test done at 25 yards
    Does Ammo matter. Comment your ideas and suggestions for this test bellow. Give us a thumb up.
    Is it me the gun or the ammo? Have you ever shot at a soda can at 15 yards and say? I can't believe I missed that. Can your pistol even hold under 1.5" at 15 yards? If it can't, it may increase your chances of missing.
    Accuracy matters. Sure, many guns can do an occasional 1.5" or sub 1" group but can they do it repeatable. Some guns may have 3 or 4 rounds that group good once in a awhile but not all 8 rounds. And are they Repeatable 8 round? Again, and again. What ammo does the gun like? Is it me the gun or the ammo?
    We are here to find out. We do not cherry pick the rounds or groups this is real true results in our videos. This is why you may miss that soda can. If you are not testing, you are guessing as they say.
    First shots and groups shown here. No special formula no tricks out of box stock gun and stock ammo. Ransom Rest test for repeatability.
    Subscribe to channel to get notification, will add more tests and video soon. No special formula, stock ammo stock gun real world test in real world environment. You can do this test to.
    This test was done at the 15-yard mark. It grouped very well for the distance. then we went to 50 yards.
    What ammo does your gun like? What ammo do you prefer? Is it me or the gun? Ransom Rest helps you find this out.
    We here at Ransom hopes this video will encourage you to look at our Ransom Rest. We hope this video will show you a clearly why Ransom Rest is the preferred way to test.

    The misfire in the M17 - actually, Ammogeddon in general, during which most people have had to fire whatever ammo then can get, and most of what we've been able to get has been hard-primered foreign-made ammo - has really highlighted a shortcoming of striker-fired autopistols that is not normally apparent: they don't hit primers nearly as hard as guns with external hammers. Mainsprings are just one whole hell of a lot heavier and more powerful than striker springs. The Italian-made Fiocchi is good ammo, it just has what we in America consider really hard primers.

    Very intriguing results. Surprisingly close. Seems like it comes down to which can you do better with in your own hands?
    My perception is the m17 was a bit more inconsistent shot to shot but still had overall good grouping. The 92 was more consistent shot to shot but still could slowly wander around a bit but end up with the grouping close to the m17.
    But again what works better for you in your hands?

    This might be a dumb question, but I've been assured by lots of people, even the Military Arms Channel, the hi-points are stupid accurate. Any chance you could try one out just for laughs?

      Sounds like we should do just that. I have seen them run just about anything and seen a video were they basically had to shoot it to get it to malfunction. It would be interesting to see truly how accurate it is. We will put it on the schedule we have one here ready to go. Thank you for commenting and stay tuned.

    The flyers are the ammo. I like how they boo the Beretta in the first round. The guns are equally qualified obviously. Justice is a better job measuring. Go to center of impact. Great work

    Are the fliers for the Sig usually on the first round, and if so, could it be that setting the gun level and then sending the slide forward is somehow causing the first round to shoot low? I noticed that in the other test.

      A super slow motion of the barrel would be interesting,too. There is a saying that the barrel isn't well guided at the end of it and because of this the accuracy suffers. Looking forward to your tests, hope you will make it happen. 😊

    This was a very enlightening video!
    Bottom line, a box-stock M17 can hang with top-tier custom Beretta 92s. While it makes me feel really good about my P320/M18 (not that I expect to get anywhere close to those groups), I would like to have seen more comparison with the service-grade Beretta 92, like you used briefly in a previous video.

    I think the beretta is more accurate slightly because of the locking lug system vs a tilting barrel system the beretta almost has a fixed barrel still very close

    The first round from a tilt-barrel design is a throwaway (unless it's a finely fitted/tuned pistol). The barrel seats to a different place when you chamber that 1st round vs when the gun fires and cycles. The first round from the Sig will always be a flyer. If you discount the 1st round, the Sig is more accurate.

    Should have the guns on two different tables.

    • @Ransomrest
      @Ransomrest  7 месяцев назад +1

      Good thought, and I appreciate your input. Although robust, that table won't move even if you jump on it. Few things to remember or take into account. Girls shoot these guns. The human is a big water bag; we wiggle when the gun goes off. That said, you're not dealing with an 18 or 24-inch barrel. You are dealing with a 4.9-inch barrel for the M9. The bullet has left the barrel. The bullet has left the barrel even before the slide has even come out of the lock-up. We have slow-mo. and high-speed photos in my office showing this. The bullet has left the barrel even before the Rest has even moved out of battery position. The first few milliseconds of the shot are absorbed in the grip insert. This occurs before vibration or recoil forces move into the machine or table. As you may know, this is not our first rodeo. We have done this for a long time. We are the ones who designed this machine, and the tri-leg Rifle bench Rests in the 60s. That table you see being used won't move even under a 50 BMG hit. It was designed to handle this.

    • @Ransomrest
      @Ransomrest  Год назад

      Thank you for your comment and I suppose I could see how you can come up with that idea, given lack of info. There is other videos and you may need to note a few things first. #1 we are very middle of road to all guns. #2 We diligently treat all guns fairly and accurately. #3 We do our best to show all guns in best light posable. We like all guns. #4 We do not favor any manufacturer or model. #5 Fact is the test was to see if a factory stock sig can group as well as the Beretta 92. That was our big goal here. Therefore, under that #5 premise alone you get the responses in video in that effect. Therefore, by default it was said in the video if not for that round, or it would tighter if not for that round. Fact is we do not discount any round for either model, and the statement was made for both models not just one. Statement hovers around can it group tighter. Note that all rounds count. And note that all rounds are counted. And by that standard both guns performed fabulously. Both guns are very comparable. First round of testing on another video shows most of the P320s did not do so well. at 15 yards but in this test, it shows the M17 runs right along next to those two well-known Berettas. Which was our test can a M17 group like a M9. And It did. I hope that helps explain why you heard those comments and what the goal and test was for.
