He had many long term relationships through the years and when he was about 30-35 he kind of dropped off the grid for awhile. About a year later he contacted my wife and invited us to his wedding. We all assumed it was to another man, Nope. He had been dating a woman and had a 2 month old daughter. We were all confused and he told my wife he had never been more happy than he was with her and their daughter. He talks to my wife a lot, she finally asked him what happened and what changed. It does shock me, however, to see how many people believe you can change your whole gender but somehow you can't change the gender you're attracted to. That seems quite inconsistent to me. 3. For people who believe one should be entitled to live out one's own sexuality, it's strange to see how people refuse to believe the man I speak of has chosen to turn away from being gay. It's like you so badly want him to stay in the Alphabet club, you cannot accept that *he* feels otherwise about *his own life*. Strange. 4. My comment is definitely not a lie 😊 He was also a former drug addict. He now runs a rehabilitation programme. I'm sure you'll have no problem believing he could change that major part of himself, but you somehow have a problem believing he could change his sexuality. 5. I wish that the LGBTQ+ club would accept that not everyone is for them without turning all opposition into an enemy. By you being for it, means that you oppose my value system. My youngest daughter's first love left her for another girl, then got friend-zoned by her because she "decided" she wanted to be gay and led him down the path of transgenderism. He was seeing a therapist who convinced him to become a girl and he shot himself because not everyone would accept his decision. This was a kid who told me that could only happen to the weak minded. Peer pressure ends young lives. I miss that kid, and I hate these people for turning our kids inside out. Vast numbers of people fluctuate in sexual orientation over the course of a lifetime. I went out with a girl who was gay until she was mid 20s. Then she had therapy to help her heal from early childhood sexual abuse at the hands of a man…..thereafter she has only been with men. Past traumatic experiences (affecting a person or their parents or grandparents) can very much affect sexual preferences and behaviors. The usually subconscious consequences of prior trauma on subsequent behavior is a vast black hole in JPs discourse
It COULD but that's not always the case. Plenty of straight people who grew up without fathers or were abused and still attracted to the opposite gender and plenty of gays were not abused and have same sex attraction. Whats next, GaY fROG eXpEriMenT?
Interesting, considering that for many recovered alcoholics the desire is still there but they just learn how to supress it. So no, being married and having children doesn't say anything about your sexual attractions.
hopefully he was just bisexual and chose to marry a woman, instead of a man? it’s impossible to change sexuality but many people do try to suppress it. it wasn’t uncommon back then for homosexual men and women to force themselves into heterosexual relationships - i don’t understand why a modern man or woman would do this though.. if he’s 100% homosexual then i feel very sorry for his wife 😬
Your sexual orientation only refers to whom your feel sexually and romantically attracted to. People can choose to ignore their feelings of sexual and romantic attraction for a variety of reasons, but that doesn't change their sexual identity. An heterosexual guy who decides to be a priest and takes his vows of chastity may choose to never touch sexually a human being again and to never nurture any romantic feelings, but that doesn't make him any less heterosexual. The guy you know may have chosen to never engage in sexual or romantic behavior with other men, and he may very well find that choice to be worth the pain and struggle, because with it he gained a family he loves. But not following up on his feelings and desires doesn't make them less real, and living with a woman and having sex with her doesn't mean he genuinely and passionately loves her romantically and feels physically attracted to her. Humanity has had - and still has - hundreds of cultures in which not marrying a person of the opposite gender and having children is simply not an option; millions of homosexual people were and are pressured into arranged heterosexual marriages, including hundreds of nobles and royals that HAD to produce heirs whether they like it or not - like Edward II of England that had multiple homosexual long term partners but still manage to do his duty and have 4 children with his wife. And heterosexual people are known to develop homosexual relationships in contexts were they habmve no contacts with people from the opposite gender for a very long time - because it's human to still crave physical and emotional intimacy. The question we should be asking is whether we want a society in which people primarily marry for love and everyone deserves a shot at choosing a spouse the are in love with and attracted to; or whether we want a society in which we marry primarily for other reasons - like financial stability and child rearing. 'Conversion therapy' is only worthwhile in the second kind od society.
I have a good friend who was a lesbian for over 20 years. She decided on her own she wanted out. Got counseling and went straight and has never looked back. It’s been nearly 20 years. Or there’s Rosaria Butterfield. I heard counselors talking before that for a segment of gay men, when you deal with their father issues from childhood, their same sex attraction just goes away. It’s definitely not unheard of. But of course, the militia does not want this out there. They want you to think change is impossible, as if it’s in your DNA. It’s not.
Well studies do show DNA influences it significantly. Same with other biological factors like prenatal envionrment, birth order, brain structure. So biology does play a large role. Also conversion therapy had been practiced for centuries and research shows that it is highly ineffective. In some cases, sexuality especially among women does spontaneously change though it's not due to voluntary actions. Also your friend could just be bisexual. If we ran a brain scan on her, she probably would still show arousal to women
@@SNP2082Shane Gillis put it best in his special (as a joke with some truth). Basically he said being gay may not be a choice; but when you look at groups who have a hard time with choices (mentally challenged), you rarely see one who doesn't love the ladies. 😂
Lol, that’s not evidence of what you think it is. If you have deep seated desires to be straight from moral beliefs then you can brainwash yourself into being whatever you want. In ancient Greece it was considered normal and even desirable and societal standards meant adult men would pair up with young boys in homosexual relationships - left to their own devices these men would not have had these desires but societal norms meant that otherwise “straight” men were clearly pressured to be gay. Gay child abusers even. Your sexual attractions are not choices or logical deductions - you like who you like. Your friend just brainwashed herself. You shouldn’t need counselling or need to work hard to be attracted to someone. Unless it’s not real
When you are talking about desire-people can desire all sorts of things. People can change their taste buds. People become aroused by fetishes, which are clearly not natural-50 shades of unnatural…or more. I’m not saying same sex attraction is a fetish, but I am saying that those who think you cannot change your preference for certain things really really doubt the power of the human psyche. It is not easy, no doubt-but a human through the power of their mind can decide to eat only meat one day, eat this way for ages, and then turn around and become strict vegan and be completely repulsed by animal products. Their are ways to tame the desires of the body-and good thing, we can’t accept as a society the idea people are so controlled by their impulses and urges that we permit something like rape or pedophilia, or beastiality. We can observe many things as human scientist, but we are still pretty bad at understanding attraction at even a basic level (which is easily observable by the evidence).

He was a strong gay advocate and was the head of the LGBT movement in his university. He said he had to visit a councillor on one occasion and the meeting with the councillor took an unexpected twist. They got into the subject of his childhood and events that took place then. He said the more counciling he got and the more he discussed troubling events when he was younger, the less "gay" he started feeling. At the time of the radio interview, about 10 years after he left university, he was happily married to his wife and they had children. He says he no longer has any gay feelings or urges at all.

I don't consider you an enemy for that. I really believe we can live harmoniously in spite of our opposition, so long as you don't try to force me into conforming to your views. Let's not turn all things into a war.
Okay, that's it from me, boys and girls. Thank you to the people who believe someone can change. I'm sure we've all been at a point in our lives where we wished to change in some way or the other for the better. Don't take that privilege away from someone else. This is his better.
What a poor woman that married him. I wonder if she knows. Many people try to live in denial and spread their misery by telling others they can go back in the closet too. See how happy they are in 5 years. It will be a trainwreck of a marriage.
@ChrisMinusHumour I knew there would be someone who would say something like this, but I posted it anyways, because despite your negative heart, there are people who turn away from something they believed they were trapped in, and they feel free for it. They've been together for over 13 years 😊
@tamlynadolph183 The longer they are together, the sadder I feel for the wife. Keeping a wife just to avoid perceived humiliation is pretty cruel. If he feels free propping up a false family to cover up his sexual orientation, go ahead. It is not sustainable but live in misery if you wish.
I noticed you didn't mention any children, I bet that will be a difficult hurdle for any closetted gay man.
@ChrisMinusHumour Two children, very happy at that. Not closeted at all. Everyone knew he *was* gay.
I understand it must be difficult for you to understand. Especially when if you wish it was not possible for people to change. I'm sorry you feel that way and pray that you find your own healing. Be blessed.

My youngest daughter's first love left her for another girl, then got friend-zoned by her because she "decided" she wanted to be gay and led him down the path of transgenderism. The usually subconscious consequences of prior trauma on subsequent behavior is a vast black hole in JPs discourse
he would probably really agree with this point too
It COULD but that's not always the case. Plenty of straight people who grew up without fathers or were abused and still attracted to the opposite gender and plenty of gays were not abused and have same sex attraction. Whats next, GaY fROG eXpEriMenT?
I know a gay man who successfully "de-gayed". He's now married to a woman and has 2 children. He describes is as being a recovered alcoholic.
@@vichomangiola But it says a lot about your moral convictions.

@Megaultraawesome99 there are no well-adjusted gays. Gay is the very definition of out of adjustment.
@@Megaultraawesome99whats strange is that I've met a quite a few gay people at work or school that talk about having early sexual encounters. He ended the the conversation. Another common case I see are people who have very bad relationships with one of more of there parents or family members typically verbal and physical abuse.
@@kovarcoley8418 at the risk of seeming like i'm going back on what i said, it's just a false equivalence there (early traumas = homosexuality/bisexuality). to be anecdotal as well, you just would not believe the amount of straight women i know who were sexually assaulted by family members in early development. it really messed them up, but it didn't make them gay or anything. as far as that guy goes, i imagine it was just uncomfortable to speak of how his sexuality was at such a young age. to disagree with you, it's not even a question that arousal and even masturbation is can occur a good bit before puberty and adolescence, but it's a taboo subject because it's naturally uncomfortable to think children have that capacity. should it be encouraged or embraced? of course not, only a sicko would encourage such early sexuality, but it *does* spontaneously arise without their having to be some traumatic input, though early traumas certainly would exacerbate it. anyways, sorry for such a long reply, it's just that i don't necessarily see a correlation between the two things you put forward. sexual abuse in childhood is much more common of a thing than you or i might hope it to be, and i just don't see how it has anything to do with "breaking" a kid's orientation so to speak
