Batman Who Laughs is the best new cbm character in last 20 years. Like seriously this guy's unlike anything this industry's ever seen before. Scott Snyder's stories can be really convulated sometimes but the way he built the Metal storyline up since Court-Of-Owls and also tied it with the Final Crisis is a masterpiece.
And they are all embodiments of Batman's worst fears and regrets: -Batman who Laughs: He and Joker aren't that different. -Red Death: Losing the batfamily and not being fast enough. -Merciless: Allowing vengeance to get the best of him. -Dawnbreaker: Power and inner darkness consuming him. -Drowned: Paranoia about metahumans. -Devastator: Superman losing his mind. -Murder Machine: Losing Alfred and dependence on technology. -Grim Knight: Taking the war against crime too far or too literally.

I do wonder if Grim will end up betraying TBWL. All we've seen him do is kill criminals and shoot the other Bruce. TBWL has seemingly killed all of the Innocents in this comic. So what if Grim, in a twisted way, is actually beating TBWL by playing into his plan and double-crossing him. Based off of TBHL's description of his backstory, all we know is that he's like Dawnbreaker in the way that he does Justice in the most ruthless manner (although with more Batman brains than Dawnbreaker). So for all we know, Grim could be kinda like Light Yagimi, he does kill criminals and bad guys, but will likely kill those who get in the way. And TBWL and Main Bruce both likely fall under that description in Grim's mind.

The Grim Knight reminds me of two previous versions of Batman. 1) In the Anansi Timeline Justice League of America storyline Bruce Wayne saw a cowboy movie instead of Zorro, killed Joe Chill with the dropped gun and became the Paladin and 2) In the Countdown to 52 where on Earth 51 Batman killed the Joker after Jason Todd died and then went to war with all other Supercriminals. But atleast on those 2 earths Bruce Wayne is still somewhat good but this Grim Knight seems totally merciless and sociopathic.

The Grim Knight is a really interesting idea. Punisher Batman. I wonder why he’s helping the Batman Who Laughs. Does the Grim Knight have a similar code to the Punisher, not killing innocents. Perhaps he doesn’t know about all the innocents the Batman Who Laughs killed. Maybe he believes that normal Batman is a failure for not killing, and the punishment for that failure is death. If the serum can make people their dark versions, can it be used to turn the dark version to the light?
