Nobody could afford 50p / mile except some very few. I drive between 1500 and 2000 miles / month and this by working remote with driving 2 days into the office, what is a 90mls / day. They introduce this, I will honestly either lose my job, or companies will simply have to move to remote work, what will reduce footfall in cities. A good third from our 300 people in our office live like me, over 25mls from the city centre, living rural (Scotland). I for example can not rely on public transport; the closest train station is 15mls and then it's another hour into Glasgow Central. And government wont scrap fuel duty. This would be fast way for the government to start a civil unrest, with 50p per mile.
On average, there are roughly 341 officers for every 100,000 civilians in Europe. That number varies per region, of course. In the UK, that number jumps to 579 per hundred thousand people. Time to stand together and set your government straight. Time for your own Tea Party, yeah!

2000 yoyos road tax for me here in Ireland. We barely have roads. The farmers get grants to trim the hedges. For some reason this year none of the hedges near me in roscommon/sligo were trimmed. BIRD SHIT Geoff BIRD shit on your front number plate.. it works. Every so often a friend goes into London hes never paid or received any notices (not one)
I had loads of accidents during the 70s and 80s never once hit the windscreen or knew anyone who did, but we did see a lot of TV adds telling us people did 🤔 they then told us to wear belts and put bombs in the steering wheels!! But then we found out no belt steering wheel bomb 💣 doesn’t go off 🤫 still haven’t hit the windscreen yet 👍
Jon, I hope your luck holds out. Before retirement I was in the emergency services. Attended many serious and fatal rta's where bodies were thrown about inside an involved car like loose canonballs !
Oh it's worse than that, in Australia. I've been there. They have cameras on tall poles, looking down into your car to detect anything that might be a phone. Also, you will be fined if your PASSENGER uses a handheld device too.
My mate had an interview at Australia House about emigrating there. They asked him if he had a criminal record. He said I didn't know you still needed one.
Pay per mile. Civil servants all WFH, so it won’t hit them. Won’t hit the workshy benefits claimants or illegals. Because they’re driving around in untaxed uninsured cars anyway with not valid licence. So who will it hit? Mainly delivery vehicles to add £££ to domestic bills. And trades driving to domestic service. Which will pass on £££ to domestic repair bills. Unless you get your unregistered unregulated hombre round to do a bodge up. Grenfell anyone?
The only electronics I want, is a distance sensor for all cars that is mandatory, so it forces cars to keep distance. I am so tired to have someone half a metre behind me going 120kmh.
@@andrewnevermind4902 on my old car I had one of the windshield washers trimmed so it shoot over the car :) the new one does not have as strong pump so it does not work now . But good idea :)
The problem with that it just takes one lunatic driving 15mph in a 30 zone and the roads will grind to a halt as a chain reaction of censors kick in to slow everyone down to the lowest common denominator ! Anyone stupid enough to tailgate you is going to end up with more expensive insurance if they hit you, as fault is always assumed to be with the car behind in a collision. just put a sign in your rear window "Warning I have a tendency to break suddenly and Hard !"
One of the problems with technology like this is they'll tell you that they'll catch people doing thing that most would agree with such as cellphone usage while driving and not wearing seat belts, so we go yah, yah, go for it and before you know it they are being used for X,Y,Z , but it to late because you let them in the door. In my country a perfect example of this was home detention with ankle bracelets, which we let in under the promise that only non violent offenders would be allowed, that lasted about a year.

I hope the goverment don't think we are paying fuel duty as well if pay per mile comes into effect. VOTE REFORM UK as they will sure to abolish pay per mile if it gets introduced. POWER TO THE PEOPLE.
Hi Geoff living here in New South Wales Down Under I drive across these cameras all the time, I think these cameras belong to the government unlike the mobile cameras being owned by a bank. I arrived in Oz from the UK in 1972 and front seatbelts were mandatory back then and had to be retrofitted to older vehicles. Rear seat belts became mandatory a short time later, the AI does not always get it right and you can appeal a fine issued for phone or seatbelt offences.
Seatbelts do not always save your life. It depends on the accident. My brother fell asleep in Northern Ontario in his old MG roadster and went off a cliff. He was thrown out first roll and ended up with just a cut lip. There was nothing left of the MG by the time it reached the bottom. Know other accidents where kids would've been killed if they had seatbelts on after being hit in the side by large vehicles. I know of one child death where a child was in a car seat in the back just after the law came in where under 10s couldn't sit in a front seat. The car was hit by a huge tipper truck which destroyed the rear half of the car. If he had been in the front seat, he would still be alive. Seatbelt wearing should be a personal choice. A fireman friend of mine would never use kiddy locks with his kids after going to accidents and not being able to get back doors open to rescue kids in a burning car.
@@GeoffBuysCars I don't wear a seatbelt while driving, because it restricts my arm movements negotiating sharp bends whilst texting comments to friends on Facebook.
Please stop with these ridiculous anecdotes regarding seat belts. For every freak example people give (make up) there will be vastly more cases where a seat belt has saved a life or prevented serious injuries. Trying to justify not wearing one by trotting out this BS is beyond sad.
And razor_edged infotainment screens installed during the manufacture of all new cars, and which are offset from the drivers "Straight ahead" view of the road ahead are not a distraction or safety hazard in a "Hard stop" accident. So much for the Type Approval Process.
Just to point out there were issues when seatbelts were introduced. (according to Lancet) Cars just weren't designed for them; heads rather than messily modifying windscreens started to attempt to bend rigid narrow steering wheels and generally failing much skull trauma ensued.
It’s a 36-40 mile round trip to our nearest town for shopping, and 200 mile round trip to the nearest city for major shopping centres, pay per mile is unfair for rural drivers unless we pay less per mile than city dwellers, on a different not my new cars speed warning system is just just a little bit annoying to sat the least, at least the default setting is just an audible warning, the speed limiter is not activated (don’t ask me how I know 😂😂😂) so that’s something at least.
Parking charges. You can watch a recent Motorcycle Action Group video where Bath & North Somerset council are going to charge to park based on tailpipe emissions. The scheme is being set up not by the whole council, not by committee but by a single old lady councillor greeny who is blatantly anti-motorist. If you ride (for example) an 800cc bike, you will be charged the same as a 3litre+ car. It will be cheaper to park your 1200cc car than your 800cc bike, *even though the bike is less polluting.* Not fit to govern.

Geoff we live in Cornwall and go to St Ives fairly regularly...fish and chips are available at loads of places in St Ives....the Balancing Eel one of the very best for value and all cooked fresh
In the US test the theory of how much government wants to keep people safe. When pulled over for a seat belt violation passively resist jumping through hoops. See how long it takes to get threatened with violence.
We were staying in Barnstaple a couple of weeks ago and one of these trailers appeared on the road to Croyde one night and stayed a few days. It was white and had big high derrick type thing that overhung the carriageway with cameras up high. On the side of the trailer were a couple of small signs with seatbelts and phones in red. I guessed what it was !
A couple of notes. One, philosophically speaking (don't roll your eyes, this has to underpin "their" reasoning), by what authority do "they" give/provide/deputies/etc any AI system to arrest/charge/testify against a living man or woman? And will AI be cross-examinable in court? Two, "they" are tapping the 'low hanging fruit" in order to construct a two-tier policing structure over us. In other words, we are complying with, and paying for, our own enslavement. "They" are over playing their hand... and "they" will never stop trying to devise means to cement our 'imprisonment'.
Funny you've done this one today. I pass it everyday on the way to work. I sware at it every time. So today I decided to email them to ask how many fines have been issued from it and how long it is going to be there.

So I asked Kent police how many of the road deaths were people not wearing seatbelts. They replied that they didn’t collect that information! That’s how serious a problem it was.

@@dwainphillis6272that's when they will show their trump card. Blue helmets are already here and waiting for this very reason.

Oh it's worse than that, in Australia. I've been there. They have cameras on tall poles, looking down into your car to detect anything that might be a phone. Also, you will be fined if your PASSENGER uses a handheld device too.

One of the problems with technology like this is they'll tell you that they'll catch people doing thing that most would agree with such as cellphone usage while driving and not wearing seat belts, so we go yah, yah, go for it and before you know it they are being used for X,Y,Z , but it to late because you let them in the door. In my country a perfect example of this was home detention with ankle bracelets, which we let in under the promise that only non violent offenders would be allowed, that lasted about a year.

A fireman friend of mine would never use kiddy locks with his kids after going to accidents and not being able to get back doors open to rescue kids in a burning car.
second time now I've heard that about child locks...

@@ferrumignis Tell your bullshit to my wife burning to death because the seatbelt jammed.
And razor_edged infotainment screens installed during the manufacture of all new cars, and which are offset from the drivers "Straight ahead" view of the road ahead are not a distraction or safety hazard in a "Hard stop" accident. So much for the Type Approval Process.

They always sly these things out into a small area. Weiners weining us to their dystopia.
Just to point out there were issues when seatbelts were introduced. (according to Lancet) Cars just weren't designed for them; heads rather than messily modifying windscreens started to attempt to bend rigid narrow steering wheels and generally failing much skull trauma ensued.
Great video as always Geoff. There is only one thing i picked up from this and that is "Compliance".
Don't pay nothing😢 simple as that

Parking charges. You can watch a recent Motorcycle Action Group video where Bath & North Somerset council are going to charge to park based on tailpipe emissions. The scheme is being set up not by the whole council, not by committee but by a single old lady councillor greeny who is blatantly anti-motorist. If you ride (for example) an 800cc bike, you will be charged the same as a 3litre+ car. It will be cheaper to park your 1200cc car than your 800cc bike, *even though the bike is less polluting.* Not fit to govern.
Spot on.

4:10 Seatbelts are an excellent safety item that have saved many lives.
But introducing seatbelts.... didn't statistically reduce road deaths..
In the US test the theory of how much government wants to keep people safe. When pulled over for a seat belt violation passively resist jumping through hoops. See how long it takes to get threatened with violence.
