    Please doctor any information about Graviola

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  4 месяца назад

      Graviola (soursop) is often discussed in natural health circles for its potential anticancer properties, but scientific evidence is limited. Further research on its impact on cancer is crucial.

    I do take many supplements such as iodine, serrapeptase, berberine, mushrooms, tocotrienol, sea moss…on top of the letrozol/kiskali treatment. I do believe I have to make sure I don’t get side effects and increase the benefit of the oral treatment.

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I’m 6 years post treatment for triple positive breast cancer and on anastrozole. What are your thoughts about taking COQ10 ?

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  7 месяцев назад +1

      Coenzyme Q10 is unlikely to cause harm. For those viewers interested in getting CoQ10 from food, the foods highest in natural CoQ10 are organ meats, fatty fish, other meats, vegetables like spinach and broccoli, fruits like strawberries, oils, legumes, nuts and seeds. Eating these foods can help maintain natural CoQ10 levels in the body. Supplements may be useful in protecting the heart from the effects of chemotherapy in children.

    Hello Doctor, What about mushroom supplements? Do they interfere with letrezole?
    Thanks!

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  6 месяцев назад

      It is not likely that mushroom extracts interfere with the aromatase inhibitors, but checking with your medical team would be wise.

    I had not realized vitamin c was bad for cancer! Since treatment, I have been craving orange juice and tangerines, and I've been consuming them especially in times when i don't feel well.

      Dietary sources of vitamin C are not a problem at all. It's the supplements (pills) that we recommend avoiding. Enjoy your tangerines!

    Dr, whilst I respect your information, your statement that most supplements are not what they appear is not true. Yes there have been times of contamination (as is also the case with pharmaceuticals) it’s rare. Supplements are best prescribed by someone who has done a 4 year degree in nutrition and or herbalism. With cancer in communication with your oncologist and an oncology pharmacists who really understands the pathways and biochemical actions/reactions of given supplements. Thankfully the oncologist I see is happy for open communication and to date I’ve kept very well due to a combination support system.

      Thanking for sharing your thoughtful insights. This is from a recent report: "Dietary supplement manufacturers are not required to prove that their products improve health, and the FDA provides little oversight of their production, authenticity or quality. For example, the New York Attorney General’s office recently found that six popular supplements, including those labeled “garlic,” “echinacea,” and “saw palmetto,” were either contaminated or lacked the labeled supplement in the ingredients of 80% of the products tested" (source: www.beebehealthcare.org/health-hub/over-counter-good-bad-and-ugly).

    Thank you for this information. What is your thought on calcium supplements, especially for us who are taking hormone blockers like Tamoxifen or Aromatase Inhibitors? Is it better to get your calcium through your diet and not take calcium supplements? Many videos suggest not to take calcium supplements as the calcium can collect in your arteries and cause build up but other providers suggest you take it. Can vitamin D with K2 be enough for bone health if you get your calcium through your diet?

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  Год назад +1

      Dietary sources are always the best. It is really hard to get enough calcium in our food, however. Calcification of the coronar arteries is most likely not the result of calcium supplementation but rather the way the body handles any calcium.

    I recently finished my treatment for grade 2 breast cancer. After hearing this video, I concluded that the Solgar food supplement for Skin, Nails, and Hair is probably dangerous and may put my health at risk for recurrence or even cause metastasis. I confess that I'm feeling very confused because my physician told me it was okay to take those pills. What is your opinion, Dr. Griggs?

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  Год назад

      During chemotherapy and radiation therapy, we recommend that you avoid antioxidants because antioxidants may decrease the effectiveness of chemotherapy. This was shown to be the case in a well-done study. It is hard to know, however, in a given person, what the impact is of having taken anti-oxidants.

      Great question. It is probably the case that you do not need to take vitamin C as a supplement. It's best to get vitamins from food. In terms of the interaction between vitamin C and treatment, it's really only chemotherapy and radiation therapy where we strongly advise against vitamin C. There's no known interaction with endocrine therapy.

    Can I take curcumin supplements during cancer treatment?

    • @yerbba
      @yerbba  10 месяцев назад

      This is controversial topic. In the absence of safety data, many people recommend not taking supplements. There are other studies that have investigated the anti-cancer properties of curcumin, but the weight of evidence does not support a meaningful reduction in cancer or cancer recurrence.
