Is it just me? Or is Kezz getting a lot taller? Because with that being said... Kezz is making it look like Julia is shrinking. At least on video. Just kidding Julia. But seriously folks... It was great to see the Birkenshaw's hook up with the Longnecker's. It's always been my opinion that these two families have a knack for making certain that the production value in their video's is always a cut above the rest. At least with video it's just as important to look good than it is to feel good. While at the same time it's always nice, and even more important, to see a husband and a wife (who obviously love each other very much) raise a large number of intelligent, talented, and well adjusted, children who are obviously going to make a very positive contribution to the future world to come. Take care. sincerely, Dean O. :-I

I'm glad to hear you got the walls staked off from the center compass for the framed walls. Great, your room is going to be a little bigger than the kid's rooms. Bravo! Too bad you have to trench another earthbag wall again Jonathan. I'm glad it just rained to make it easier. Cool, Jeff and Rose with a RUclips channel of Gridlessness? Nice that you're teaching them how to superadobe. No, 68 steps plus 5 feet! He has to write it down! It sounds like they know how to stuff sausages. It's 2.2lbs to a kilogram. Yay, fourth course there! Congratulations on your build with Tiny Shiny Home Gridlessness! Thanks for this video Longnecker family!

bonjour la famille. i must admit, that i've watched a lot 'earth-bagging.' and yet, today's iteration was like a refresher course of how to do it right. i truly enjoyed watching the 'canadiennes' working with their parents and the homestead off grid conversation between the families. the exchange of knowledge and commitment is awesome.
In 1880, a gentleman from Quebec, composed the melody for the Canadian national athem and Adolphe-Basile Routhier wrote ihe lyrics in French. Canada and the United States have much in common. and now and forever more, Canada and Cochise County have a link based on hard work and mutual cooperation.
'Ô Canada, our home and native land.. a thing in common indeed. using 'native land to build our respective homes.'

When you talked about measuring the feet on the bedroom walls.. I thought of before when Ashely's foot wasn't actually a foot AND I remembered being in a courtroom hall for jury duty during Covid a sign saying "Stay 6 pies Apart" !! 😮 in Taos NM.. Evidently Spanish or Mexicans measure by a 12" pie pan.. Not feet !!! 😅😂

This format is interesting! 👍 When you show and explain something to a person who is actually there, it becomes more understandable. 👉I also have a suggestion for filling the earthbags. Put the wheelbarrow on an elevation (like a ramp) as high. This way you don´t have bend down each time to heave up each shovel of earth mix to the height of the earthbag- opening. I know it is such a little movement , but it is a movement you will have to perform a million times on this project. It will ruin your backs. 🚑 If you would build a platform that moved alongside the trolley system, put twoo wheels on one side, and handles on the other side. This way you can easily move it along when the earth bag trolley moves. It would look like half of the little wooden trench bridge cut off, but with wheelies and handles. Just a suggestion, of course, no critique.

Goat paradise is well established. Why 3 kid's rooms? Oldest daughter has her own dome now. And the goat farm.
Now the master bedroom can expand AND give the other 2 rooms more space.

She'll move back into the house when done. Dome will be a guest room for visitors

Stopped over from Gridlessness. The Hyperadobe bags sound like they have a lot of benefits. Could they be used for something like a root cellar?

Can the electrical wires run horizontally between the bag layers as you build them up?

They can, but then you won't ever be able to access them again. We'll be building framed walls (those stakes we put in at the beginning of the video) so we can go up in the ceiling and drop down wires where we need them for maintainability.

Is the milled Canadian timber treated for any kind of insects? Kiln dried maybe? Or maybe you don’t have those kind of wood pests in Canada? Glad no termites in Canada.
