    Essentially the point of ‘Get your hands dirty’ is that there isn’t just two sides and two perspectives. Everyone has different reasons to do what they’re doing, like how most people think witches sell potions for evil but Ella was saying she could be selling them to provide for her children.

      True. Completely overthinking the witch thing: if the witch was born in poverty and only learned the potions she sells, has a bunch of kids and can't afford to learn anything else, what can she do? Let herself and her kids starve because it's the morally right thing to do?

Ella then asked how does she know it's a bad thing to do, and she said, "Because she's a bad person. She even said it." Something along those lines. Not exactly verbatim. Ella then explained that bad people don't think that they're in fact bad people. Basically saying everyone has their own justification for what they're doing. The song wasn't really about justifying evil. “Get your hands dirty” - the context is that Red wants to steal something to prevent what happens in the future. But Chloe (the very bright blue girl) wants to confess and tell Merlin the truth so that he could help them. But Red was already warned that she cannot do anything to change TOO much of the future or she might never get the mom she knew back. Red has been very careful with the future, not being too close or revealing in the past unlike Chloe who might make things really bad because she’s way too honest (which isn’t bad but it causes problems along the way too when you’re in the past). Chloe goes to Ella (Her mom in the past and the one in the video) to ask for advice. Telling Ella that Red said so herself that she’s a bad person. Ella tells her that bad people don’t think they’re bad, she knows all to well living with an evil stepmom and sisters. And Chloe asks what if she’s pushing you to do something bad because she says it’s for a good reason and that’s why Ella was singing that song. It was teaching Chloe that there’s more to what’s considered good and bad, there’s shades of grey in it. SOME people that are considered bad, do bad things because society and the system has pushed them to corners where they had no other choice but to do bad things to make things right again. Which is how Red views things that Chloe struggles to see. Chloe said “To save YOUR life” because… well Ella does not have a full life to see her youngest grow up in the future bcuz of QoH.
    “Fight for our lives” - Chloe (blue haired girl) is the one who ones to go back to the present to save her mom but honestly she’ll just get herself imprisoned or killed if she tried to do that. The Queen of Hearts practically ambushed the first day of school, Uma and her pirate crew didn’t stand a chance. So chloe going back would do nothing but get her hurt or killed. Red is the one who wants to STAY in the past to find out what pushed her mom to be evil. She’s trying to change history but NOT too much of it. Just change her mom really. The pocket watch is a time machine and Chloe is trying to take it to get back. Red doesn’t want to get back yet until they find out who and what caused the evilness of the Queen of Hearts.
    Hope you watch and listen to Life is Sweeter and Perfect Revenge soon though ❤️ Life is Sweeter is stuck in my head ngl. That song and Get your hands dirty are on repeat for me.❤️

    I have to admit, I didn't understand the Queen of Hearts' backstory at first, but then I thought more about it.
    Bridget always was nice and trusted everyone. They all smiled back and took from her kindness. She was tricked and turned into a monster for being too sweet and naive. Not only that, but nobody helped her. No one was here for her, not even Ella, who was her best friend, the only one who she considered as her friend actually and for whom she was always there. Ella was just with Charming. So I can understand her resentment and hatred towards everyone. Now she doesn't want to get hurt anymore, so she doesn't show sweetness. She acts mean and elicits fear to make sure everyone respects her and doesn't dare try anything against her

      See, here's the thing, we don't know any of that is true. Because we never actually get to see what happened that made her evil. We hear other people talk a little bit about it but ultimately, we don't know. That's what really irritates me about the backstory. We hear most of it from the queen of hearts perspective but she could be exaggerating the story for all we know.

      @@reinablango4157I mean we do hear about it a bit from Cinderella’s perspective of how the prank was brutal but Bridget shouldn’t be holding that sort of grudge for so long. • @reinablango4157
      @reinablango4157 Месяц назад +16

      @@celiafalsone But we don't truly know how terrible the prank was if the movie doesn't show us, instead of the characters telling you it was awful. They do tell you what the prank entailed which is better than nothing. But one of the biggest issues I had, was the part about Ella. The movie implies that Ella abandoned Bridget at the dance. Do we see anything about that at all? Nope. Their friendship is sound, no fighting or anything. Ella isn't even going to the dance until she decides she's going with Bridget. And then, we never seen anything about that either. They never talk about it again. The movie also implies that Ella was off with the prince, but we never see that relationship develop in the slightest. Even after the movie tells us that this is where they fell in love. The past versions of them have one scene the whole movie and that was it. So we still don't know why Bridget blames Ella. The choice to make the entire plot of the movie circle around this dance and the infamous prank, and then show us neither, makes no sense. It hurts the plot and the characters' backstories.

      @aisleelovegreenwood6448 Yeah, I assumed as much after the "you didn't think this was the end of the story" part. I guess the biggest reason I walked away unsatisfied was how it was done. The ending was so...choppy. Like, maybe there could have been a reason why we don't see the dance instead of the characters just abruptly leaving. And also, there was little struggle. It felt like they fixed everything on their very first try, because they kinda did. I don't know. This movie felt differently than the others and not in a good way. The other movies end with the "you didn't think this was the end of the story" thing, but the other movies also felt like they had successfully completed the part of the story they were telling in that particular movie. The ending of this movie felt like there was supposed to be more and for some reason they just cut it all out. It just ended all of a sudden and I was left feeling like I'd watched half a movie. If they make a second part to this, which apparently they will, I'll prolly watch it in hopes there is a good explanation for all of this, but I don't know. The Descendants movies aren't the greatest made films in the whole world but the original three always had a certain order and structure to them. And then this one felt like a mess. A really confusing, plot hole ridden mess. I really hope I just feel this way because it's the first movie and they're still world building and there's better stuff to come but I don't know. Personally, I walked away from this one really disappointed. There were several things I thought could have been done better but, I will wait and see for the next ones. Maybe there's something coming that will make everything make sense.

    I think the message is it doesn’t matter what choice you make good or bad, at some point even if you choose to follow the code, the law, whatever the heck society deems as ethical and moral and good, you will come at a crossroads where you’ll have to get your hands dirty.
    Think of it like this, you follow the rules your whole life but it doesn’t matter how good you are if the code you’re following isn’t guaranteed to be good when applied to every possible circumstance. “Valiant knights pure and good, guaranteed” “that depends on what they’re fighting for.” So even if you yourself always make moral decisions, even choosing the right thing to do can have unintended consequences so then did you do the right thing? What IS the right thing to do? According to who?
    Getting your hands dirty kinda means taking initiative in these vague situations and evaluating on your own terms.
    Depending on the choice YOU make, what outcome can you live with as something moral and ethical to YOU. Or even, in a bad situation what is the least terrible option. You’re gonna get your hands dirty anyway might as well decide in a way that you can live with.
    Essentially what it comes down to is that we do the right things when we fight for the people we love. Choosing to do our duty, follow the honorable code OUT of love, not some senseless instinct to follow along (the idea of duty, doing what you’re supposed to cz that’s what right) as everyone else does and deem THAT right or moral.

    Basically Red is making a statement about how her mom’s trauma has caused her to have a very specific outlook and made her very controlling. Red feels like her wants and needs have always been second to her mom’s grief, in that the queen of hearts forces Red into following her beliefs and not letting Red be her own person. Like, Red is aware that her mom is so cruel to her bc she has her own issues, she just wishes that she was important enough to her mom that her mom would have shown her love despite all of that. It's such a heartbreaking line to me bc this kid knows that she missed out on a kind loving mother bc of things that happened before she was even born.

    The song "get your hands dirty" definitely needs the movie context (like almost all of them). Red (daughter of Queen of Hearts) intends to steal a book from Merlin's office to prevent a prank that will result in her mother becoming evil and killing lots of people, but Chloe (daughter of Cinderella) believes that there is a clear line in which actions are good or evil. Stealing is bad, no matter the reason (which is why the reference to Robin Hood is really good even though not intended by Ella).
    Esentially the song means that actions can be good or bad depending on intentions and effect. (But primarily on intentions) Like Robin Hood stealing to help people in need. And that sometimes you have to do things that would seem wrong because it is actually the good thing to do.

    In Get Your Hands Dirty, Chloe (the Princess) is debating breaking into the headmaster's office to get a book and keep it out of the hands of Uliana, so she can't ruin Bridget's life, as it's hinted that that's what starts her descent into becoming the way she is today. Chloe feels bad, because breaking in is wrong, but also it's to help Bridget (and also Red).
    Also, the other girl is Ella, AKA Cinderella, Chloe's mom in the future.

    “Get your hands dirty” is about the idea that there is no such thing as a decision that is 100% good/right or 100% bad/wrong. There are always going to be both positive and negative consequences for every decision you make and that you shouldn’t decide right from wrong without first looking at the bigger picture. The context of this song is that Chloe is trying to decide whether or not it’s ok to “break a rule” (in this case by stealing something) if it means that someone’s life will be saved.

    the first song- Chloe (cinderella's daughter) sees things very black and white and she doesn't see how in someways she isn't any better then red (queen of hearts kid) and that red isn't pure evil like her mom- Chloe thinks she is pure good not recognizing her own flaws and only sees red as her mom and not the complex person she is. no-one is pure good or pure evil. please watch all films they are so much campy fun!

  • @jeyguard

    So i have a scenario from my d&d game for "get your hands dirty"
    My characters friend was tasked by someone evil to either open a gate to purgatory or kill a person. My character didnt like either of those options BUT knew that his friend was going to do something regardless (because bad guy could restore friend's memory if he did the tasks).
    I had a deal with a genie to get rid of a creature that was hunting me and decided to instead change the deal to close the portal once it was open.
    Is it evil to potentially unleash undead chaos on the world for one minute if it was going to happen without a solution in place previously?

    That’s literally why people don’t like this movie because it makes you think and people don’t like to think. Out of all the Descendants movies this one has much more complexity than the previous films which you could watch just for fun. This movie was a good time too but it’s actually really deep. And people don’t like the ending because they also don’t understand that the ending of the film actually ISN’T a happy ending and it’s set up to fool people into thinking “that’s it?” But there will be repercussions in the next film. Also this movie has a lot of death conversations and it’s just so good!
    edit: I like movies that are more complex sometimes.

    • @eriksnation231
      @eriksnation231 Месяц назад +6

      I completely agree with you. This movie is very complex which is why I truly adore it because fairytales aren't really so simply black and white and it challenges the status quo of whats really good or evil. Also for the end of D4 I agree as well the false sense of a " happy ending" was a good touch and it was very vague as well setting up more consequences of the time traveling and the changes in the timeline.

      @AnahiViturino Месяц назад +2

      Personally speaking...no, is not because of that, is because of the >execution< of that. There's many times where the message is just confusing because of how is presented...to an extent that I don't know what is plot hole or a hook for the second part, and the speed that the movies moves doesn't help at all.

    • @jpachu16
      @jpachu16 Месяц назад +1

      No it’s cause there were a bunch of plot holes and it ended really abruptly. We don’t see the prank, we don’t see the ball, we don’t even see anything past the orientation of red’s arrival to auradon prep. If they showed the prank, then showed the girls solving it, it would’ve been better. But also if the book was cursed to not let evil use it, the VKs wouldn’t haven’t been able to pull the prank anyway so why did the girls need to interfere? Also why was Bridgette so mad at Ella when Ella was literally her only friend? Ella wasn’t the one who pulled the prank.

    • @TozheiAmen-Ra
      @TozheiAmen-Ra 5 дней назад

      @@jpachu16 Plot holes are nothing new for Descendants films, let’s be realistic. And you missed my point once you brought up the fact that we didn’t see the prank YET. Yes they could have added that to be film, but again, read my comment.

    Your reaction to Fight Of Our Lives is so hilarious when you have the context of the moment. Blue (Chloe Charming) is actually SO right about not trusting Red here. Blue wants to go back to the present to fix things, but Red wants to stay and completely change her mom basically. But Chloe had every right not to trust Red at this point in the story, which you'll understand once you do watch the movie.
    And you should definitely check out the other songs.
    There's a revival of 'So This Is Love' from Brandy (adult Cinderella) that's just cute.
    Then there's 'Shuffle Of Love' by Bridget (young Queen of Hearts).
    'Life is Sweeter' by Bridget, which also introduces some of the other students (Prince Charming, Fay/Fairy Godmother, Jasmine and Aladdin) and it introduces the VK's (Uliana, Captain Hook, Morgie, Hades and Maleficent).
    And then there's also 'Perfect Revenge' which is the new villain song and I think actually slaps.
    (The girl playing Uliana was also one of the main characters in High School Musical The Musical The Series called Courtney)

    Uma's aunt is out to steal a book to play a mean curse on Bridget (queen of hearts/ Red's mom)
    Red wants to steal the book before Uma's aunt dose. (Chaotic good)

But also Idk how the sequel is going to fix the many problems I had with the film but the queens backstory of trying her hardest to be friends with everyone and only having one true friend in Ella and her getting pranked by the vks and Ella having something to do with it or the queen believing she did would make anyone go crazy to be fair. There is a line in the film where Ella saying what happened was years ago and queen says it feels like yesterday to me.

    10:50 This decendents movie (and what I'm saying is the majority of what was shown in the trailors and a little extraso I dont consider it "spoiling") is about time travel, The queen of hearts daughter was invited to go to the school but the queen of hearts used it as a way to perform a coop on auradon. The Queen of hearts also sentences Cinderella, who was brining her daughter Chloe to the school, to death. R
    ed, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, uses the 'looking glass' to go back in time so she could prevent the coop from happening, but accidentaly goes back in time to when The Queen of Hearts and Cinderella were both at school (yes I'm still as confused as you are it messes up the entire timeline) and takes Chloe with her. They then have to try to stop the Queen of Hearts from turning evil (and killing Cinderella).
    The song is basically Chloe figuring out how far she should go to try and save her mum (the other girl) the "to save your life" is literally reffering to Cinderella
    also love aint it would make so much more sense if it was sung after red got the hots for chloe (THE AMOUNT OF TENSION) bc otherwhise the use of 'love' just feels like its there bc of the queen of hearts which is pretty lame

    Okay so since I look like a Descendants character I’ll answer some things. The blue haired girl is Chloe, she is Prince Charming and Cinderella’s daughter. They used the Cinderella and Prince Charming that they had for the TV
    Movie staring Brandy, Paolo, and Whitney Huston. I 100% find it odd they made her hair blue because Brandy’s hair was her natural color in the movie. They decided they for some reason had to have them both have blue hair 🤷‍♀️.

    To have some context on why "Blue" sings "why should I trust you?" bc of what her mom did, Red herself actually sentenced Cinderella (Blue's mother) to death for treason, ending up with Cinderella dying. And yeah, Red didn't want to do it and did it for pressure, but first Blue doesn't know her and second, no one would be able to immediately trust and forgive someone that just killed your mom even if it was for pressure.
