Hi could you react to murder drones ep 2 and its really underrated in my opinion even kinda better than the amazing digital circus so please react to it
Please can you list all the songs in order, I watched a playlist before seeing the 3 reactions and I didn't recognize 2 of them (I assume alternative songs to ones in the og playlist) and if possible could you put headings of the saga for each section if that makes sense, like Matthew I need visuals so by knowing the order I can make sure I've got the correct visuals/ make a playlist myself

@@WeaWoo1288 thankyou, I did a bit more research as those are the songs i found but Mathew had two other songs on one of his other videos so i found out that there are other saga's in progress and made a playlist on my account (I've made it public if you want to check it out)
im a bit concerned on how this would play out in broadway, because i thought there'd be like moments of non-musical dialogue intertwined in the script should the musical be actually played on stage but as it turns out, it's gonna be entirely straightforward like hamilton.
especially the reprises. the luck runs out reprise in mutiny isn't that remarkable to listen to on its own but when you've listened to the ocean saga it hits _way_ harder
"He went between sparing the Cyclops to murder so quick" THIS IS WHY WE WANTED YOU TO WATCH THINGS IN ORDER! If you watched the underworld saga it would make so much more sense to you! 😂
Also, the Latin teacher in me had to add, Odysseus ties himself to the mast and his crew have beeswax in their ears in the actual Odyssey. Circe/Tireseus are the ones who gave him the route and such. But Jorge changed it to this and in this musical it makes the most sense and also the song slaps
@@IlieTornesI honestly thought Odysseus was asleep again like in keep your friends close, but then I heard the word ‘daughter’ and was like: wait a damn minute
“He turned from hero to villain real quick.” OF COURSE HE HAS! It’s almost like there was a whole 20 songs that lead up to him changing his morals. The core theme is literally, “when does a man become a monster.”
The thing is that Odysseus DIDN'T sacrifice his crew in previous "adventures". Yeah, he's caused their deaths accidentally, but Odysseus is the man who refused to leave any man behind at Circe's island. He basically did what he thought was "right" and showed mercy throughout the first act only to get fucked over time and time again, leading to his turnaround in Monster. I think it does a disservice to the writing of the musical to ignore the character shift and just go "Oh, he's always disregarded his crew, lol".
Yeah. "Hey we blatantly ignored not just the Captain but KING, to kill this cow. Oh wait ZEUS is pissed off and making you choose? Have us suffer the consequences of OUR actions that could have been avoided or you die at the hands of ANOTHER FREAKING GOD and you don't see your wife and son? What? We have to pay for our actions?!?! How dare you?" Let's not touch on the fact that they could be charged with treason if they had managed to make it home. Unless I'm wrong. This made me irritated if you couldn't tell. Lol all that to say I agree with you.
@@lizziekaptain843 Not to mention that Eurylochus is literally the one that advocated, "We should abandon everyone and make sure you and I get home" on Circe's island. He legitimately cares less for the lives of the crew than Odysseus does. Plus the one that opened the wind bag (again, against the orders of his captain and king) and got them caught by Poseidon in the first place. If not for him, they'd have had the blessings of Aeolus and been home already. The only reason he has to be mad about Scylla is that he wasn't let in on the plan, and could have ended up being one of the ones getting eaten.
Also the people are starving at sea if they dont mack it home they die ider way 6 lives so the remaing 28 mack it home AND LIVE, not menshning ON IS THE KING, that seams pretty fair
The thing is, the whole time he wasn't being punished for doing what was right, he got fucked over for being dumb, largely due to the fact he was angered by Athena who shamed him for being merciful.
Also Odyessseus went to the cyclops island looking for food for everyone. Circes Island the crew just barged into a strange woman's home with out asking questions - who got them out? Odeysseus. Who killed the gods cows? Who opened the wind bag? I dont care for the crew. Half the shit was their own faults and then blamed ody cause "he's in charge" when none of them listened to him before.
Its such a fast change from asking for mercy from circe then going "kill them all" Even if it was multiple sagas just take a step back. He asked for help from circe, went to the underworld, and saw everyone dead After that from just these songs he just goes "WHOS WITH MY WIFE" next song "I WILL MURDER EVERYONE IN MY WAY" then thunder saga starts. Like honestly the main reason hes a murderer now is just a misunderstanding from the prophet. These songs aren't explaining how long in between each song or anything else thats happened in between so they all feel right after each other.
"everyone has been telling me to listen to this musical in order so ive decided to heed that advice and skip directly to the start of act 2!!!!! 😁😁😁" /lh
I think you are a bit confused, to watch in order you have to see first the Troy Saga, then the Cyclops Saga, the Ocean Saga, the Circe Saga, the Underworld Saga, AND THEN the Thunder Saga
@@АружанМақсатқызы-ш7ш Initially I didn't know, I noticed after watching this video because the others were suggested, but it irritates me a bit how he doesn't react in order to the songs, they kinda lose meaning. He did the same also with Hazbin Hotel, I adore his reactions, but the not chronological order does annoy me a bit
He watches some shows in order like Ever After High and Hazbin Hotel, but he seems to refuse to watch EPIC in order. When I found his first reaction for EPIC it brought me here and I love his reactions (mostly to things I know before to be honest) but then he stopped EPIC and I was so sad. I watched other reactions by him but I got so disappointed after EPIC wasn't coming anymore 😭
@@fleischsalat318 But there was a video in which he reacted only to the songs of Hazbin Hotel, not the episodes those ones are in order, and the songs weren't
@@PilotLyriche does this with everything he reacts to, it’s fun for him this way. And I can see why, waiving together things from different songs and see where they fit is fun
Relax, he can't just react to all of it in one video. He spreads his reactions to different media equally, therefore he can't have time to react to all of it. It'd be more enjoyable, but if you don't like it then no need to be ACTUALLY irritated, lmao. He just figured he'd listen to the latest one. If he checks the other ones out, good for him. His reactions are fun, at least.
@@Aivi_xoxo how about this one: Jay considers making a backstory for Eurylochus after Epic. Now is left to see if he wants to keep Eury as Odysseus' brother-in-law in his lore or not
Thing is a lot of his choices maximized the possibility of survival. But more than half the time its either cuz of factors outside of his hands (accidentally stumbling on the cyclops), or others fucking his choices over (Eurylochus opening the bag).
When we said, "Watch it in order", we meant the whole musical. My man skipped straight to act 2- Please, listen to the rest, there's like a million callbacks made throughout the musical and it's less impacful when you haven't heard the other songs. That being said, here's a list of my personal favorite animatics of each song in order : (Oh, and a lot of things in the Thunder Saga would hit much harder, so if you listen to the others, consider giving the Thunder Saga another listen) Troy Saga : The Horse And The Infant, by gigi Just A Man, by gigi Full Speed Ahead, by WolfyTheWitch Open Arms, by Yon Hara Warrior Of The Mind, by WolfyTheWitch Cyclops Saga : Polyphemus, by mircsy (I personally prefer Wolfy's animatic, but mircsy is the only one who's done both Polyphemus and Survive, so doing mircsy's Polyphemus animatic would be better, since it leads straight into Survive) Survive, by mircsy Remember Them, by WolfyTheWitch My Goodbye, by WolfyTheWitch Ocean Saga : Storm, by Xinema Natzel Luck Runs Out, by Crashite Keep Your Friends Close, by gigi Ruthlessness, by gigi Circe Saga : Puppeteer, by gigi Wouldn't You Like, Xinema Natzel Done For, by AnniFlamma There Are Other Ways, by gigi Underworld Saga : The Underworld, by TheeArteest No Longer You, by Krieo Monster, by gigi
this saga is right after the act one closer: monster, where odysseus decides he has to be more ruthless to get home, hence the "he is the man made monster"
The main reason why is it important to listen to it in order is because musically there are a lot of callbacks and foreshadowings to other songs in the musical, also this is NOT a 1 on 1 adaptation of the Odyssey. So it will show new things to even those who read the story. 12:43 NO! IT WAS NOT SUDDEN! This is why you listen to the songs **in order.** You see the end of a whole Act 1 long character development!
Also the "fvk Odysseus!" when it was mostly Eurylochus' fault shit hit the fan... Tell me you didn't watch more than half of the sagas without telling me 😭😭😭
Mathew honey please😭 it makes sense to listen to the WHOLE thing in order not necessarily because of the story but for all the musical motifs and reoccurring melodies and lyrics and themes like trust me it's GOOD
"Why is ody acting evil suddenly?" IDK MATHEW. MAYBE CAUSE IN THE LAST SONG OF THE UNDERWORLD HE SCREAMS ABOUT HE'LL BECOME THE MONSTER TO MAKE IT HOME (jokeing) 😂😂😂😂
@@abramdelisle5746 He’s not “ruining” the story. It’s still there. Mathew’s being chaotic with his way of watching the show, but everyone acts like he just committed a crime. It’s funny, but not that big of a deal
@user-yh6kx6rr8z it's disrespectful to Jorge who spent the time and effort for his work to be enjoyed in a certain way. He is misrepresenting what epic is.
This is why we watch things in order, Mathew. In case you or anyone else doesn't know the order, it's Act One with Troy Saga, Cyclops Saga, Ocean Saga, Circe Saga, and Underworld Saga. Thunder Saga is the first saga in Act Two. I'd recommend you support Jorge and the EPIC cast by listening to the (new) official Troy and Cyclops saga concept albums and not the... old ones...
But he didn't sacrifice anyone before Scylla tho? The men who died at the Cyclop's hands were victims. The ones killed by Poseidon got killed because Odysseus doxxed himself in a fit of indignation to Athena and because Eurylochus was enough of a doubting moron to open the wind bag, despite them being so close to Ithaca they could see it and Ody explaining that the bag had the storm inside. Eurylochus WANTED to abandon the men stuck under Circe's spell to their death and Odysseus was the one that managed to calm things down with her. Scylla is very much the first time Odysseus actively sacrificed someone to get back home since the infant of Troy, and the first time he sacrifices his crew period. And Scylla was a necessary stop if they didn't want Poseidon to kill them all. Add to that the fact that Euryochus decided to rebel for something he would've done too, and that his first act as captain is just lead the crew to their doom by killing Helios' cow, and frankly, in Odysseus' place, I would've snapped back at them faster than Zeus could get a woman pregnant. I'd wield those lightning bolt my fucking self, actually. As Eurylochus himself said, he wanted all the power, then he must now carry all the blame.
I think the small difference folks forget is that, asking Odysseus to not go against a clearly powerful witch who turned their men into pigs and accept their losses. Is different from Odysseus not telling them they were going to the Lair of Scylla. I took it that he got the information from the siren alone, while the others handled her companions. It didn't seem like anyone expected that they were going into a battle. Because it wasn't going to be a battle; Odysseus alone made the decision to offer sacrifices to avoid a battle. I know because they're so close to Charybdis, it might seem worth it, but he's not the only person who wants to get home and if the blame is Eurylochus alone opening the bag, then what did those 6 men do so wrong? While Eurylochus is at fault for opening the wind bag. I think anyone would go...it's different if we suffer losses but our captain and King tries to minimize them. He's fighting with us and for us. It's very different if you were on the ship and went...you didn't even give any of us a choice or ask if we were willing to be sacrifices. While he told Eurylochus to light the torches, he also made him responsible unknowingly for the death of 6 men, because he chose who'd be the victims. Unwittingly saving himself when trying to assist another man. Mutiny makes sense after all they'd gone through because all the suffering and dying has meaning up until you realize you're expendable. It also makes you question when the change occurred or if it was always there. Whose to say Odysseus has been suffering losses because he views everyone as expendable. So long as he lives and with the power dynamic, it's all fine, no matter how high the cost may go - as he said in Monster. Unfortunately, as King of Ithaca and so close to home, Odysseus realizes the cows are likely Helios. But he broke trust with the crew. So compared to their suffering and despair, his pleas are one voice against the many who are starving and sick of losing. In the end, he MUST shoulder all the blame as the leader. Eurylochus messed up when he opened the bag. But Odysseus messed up when he refused Athena's word and gave the Cyclops his name. In the end, it all begins with Odysseus. So even this betrayal too...stems from that one choice. The foil of them both just being men, driven by emotion, pain, or anger is the crux of the story. Anger, pride, and hubris made Odysseus tell the Cyclops his name. Disappointment, despair, and hunger made Eurylochus kill the cow for a chance at survival and to stave off starvation. Those two reasons are far from the same in what drove a poor decision. But this is my little box of analysis, I do understand where you're coming from in the view of the situation.
I think the problem is that everyone is focused on the fact that Eury represents the crew, that they forget that the fist person to actively lead them to slaughter is Eury. He opened the bag while he was not under any stress compered to their journey so far. And the whole crew knew and hid it from Odyssey. They where the first to, in a way, backstab Ody. His mistake was sparing cyclops, yes, but even before and after that fact he worked to get as much of his people home as possible. I think he just lost all faith in them, and knew that no matter what he does for them, in the end he would suffer by their hand.
@@sadat4101 him giving his name to the cyclops should be irrelevant in this conversation bc he immediately made a plan with a god to help them getback safely, he explained what the rules were to his crew but still they betrayed him bc Eurylochus was doubting him left and right and spreading that doubt - also left and right- which Odysseus warnt him from but that guy just wouldn't listen. Yes, Odysseus made one mistake, his crew made multiple ones and at the end of the day those were actually the important one's...
@@sadat4101 There are enough similarities between the two situations to realistically call Eurylochus a hypocrite, which Ody does. "Let's just cut out losses, you and I, and let's run" versus "Don't make me fight you brother, you know you'd have done the same." With all the thought put into the musical I have to believe it was an intentional choice on Jorge's part. I'd also add that is has been confirmed telling the Cyclops his name wasn't motivated by pride or hubris. It was motivated by grief.
@@karolinebergin9347 this is the conversation I was looking for because I was so upset for mathew to say that the mutiny was deserved and the right choice was to sacrifice himself. I'm not saying Odysseus has no wrong doing and I completely understand why the mutiny happened however how many times had Odysseus saved his crew up until that point. They literally went through like a 10 year war and Under his leadership they had survived. He may have made a mistake while fighting the cyclops but the only reason any of them made it was because of Odysseus. The crew was ready to kill the cyclops blocking their only escape and the only reason they had an escape was because of Odysseus spiking the wine. He was resourceful and found a way home that the crew messed up. A bunch of the crew got turned into pigs and he fixed it. He realized the stuff with the sirens prevented more death and found a new way home.. Even with sacrificing 6 men what was the alternative. For the most part they probably would have lost so many more people and in the end that is why he is the captain he wasn't happy to do it but when you look at it there wasn't much else to do. So in the end morally if you have to kill one person vs many yes the morally right choice is the one person but in my opinion the crew did the mutiny the crew decided to kill the cow so it is their consequence to bare.
@@rachelmr24 I don't mind his confusion as much as some of the replies, but really musicals are very much the sort of songs you cannot get away with his style of reactions, I really think he'd be better off pausing and rolling back a bit when he wants to say stuff like other reactors.
Bro watched an musical out of order out of spite then got a most inaccurate take ever "Fuck Odysseus" when he is the only sane one, honestly its a suprise the crew survived this long with how stupid they were
Zeus is not the Sun God, yes. He is, however, the God of Justice. So if Helios wants divine retribution for his cows being eaten, it's time for Big Z Energy to show up.
And this is why we listen to things in order Mathew. Anyways the Thunder Saga is the start of Act II of the musical. (In case you do decide to go back and listen to them in order: Troy Saga, Cyclops Saga, Ocean Saga, Circe Saga, and Underworld Saga are all act I in that order.) Update: You are own your own in terms of f*** Odysseus. Like his right hand, Eurylochus, literally betrayed Odysseus by opening the bag of winds the wind god gave him and they were so close to home. (Which sent them straight into the hands of Poseidon who then killed 557 men.) And then on Circe’s island when the men got turned into pigs Eurylochus wanted to leave the men for dead and Odysseus was the one who went back to save them. Not saying Odysseus is the BEST person in the whole story however everything that happened in the last song was Eurylochus’s fault. He was the one who killed the Sun gods cows. (Apollo is the sun god and so he sent his father Zeus to deal with Odysseus and his crew.)
I would like to play devils advocate and defend Eurylochus here. The main point I see is that he opened the wind bag. I agree that was his mistake, although it was rooted in distrust towards Odysseus after he saw Polites die, it was his fault. I don't agree that he caused Poseidon to kill them though. I would say Poseidon was going to kill Odysseus' men either way, whether or not the bag was opened because of Odysseus' actions in survive. I would argue Poseidon was going to "intercept" and kill the men either way. For the Circe incident, I would argue that a lot of people misunderstand Eurylochus. Eurylochus didn't "want" to sacrifice and leave the men behind, he thought it was unwise for Odysseus to go after Circe. He didn't want the men to die, but he knew his crew would fall apart without the captain. He was right too. If it wasn't for "plot armor" (Hermes' Moly), Odysseus would've likely became a pig and left the crew without a captain. For the Scylla incident, he was right to be mad at Odysseus since he willingly sacrificed the men, unlike Eurylochus just not wanting to lose more men. Finally, for the Zeus incident, he killed the cows because their whole crew was demotivated and starving. He was obviously backed by the crew, shown in the end of mutiny and their inaction towards him killing the cows. He did die for his mistake of killing the cows and that was his fault, but you should see where he's coming from about travelling for 12 years and seeing a lot of pain and suffering on the way. Odysseus is blinded by his love for Penelope and is making risky/prideful decisions (Polyphemus). I'm not saying Eurylochus was a good person, but I am saying that he doesn't deserve all the flack that he is currently getting from the Epic community.
He’s not alone! Eury had character development, growing as a person, and Odyssey became Ruthless, the crew support Eury because despite his mistakes, he cares for them and attempts to shield them from further pain. Ody at this point -as Scylla mentioned- “deep down only cares for himself” so Eury isn’t one guy going rogue, he consistently acts as the hand and voice of the crew, whereas Ody only acts in the interest of seeing his wife. I like Ody and u deist and his point of view, but I disagree with the idea that Eury is worse than Ody, and I don’t understand calling him a hypocrite, because it almost implies that being consistent in your opinions is more important than fighting for what you believe in now. Eury’s actions in thunderbringer is that he is a man on the brink of starvation who realises Ody would sacrifice any number of crewmen to see his wife (there is no price he won’t pay), and decided to act
ohhhh is that why? I was like why did Zeus come over Helios's cattle? and i do think in the story it is Helios who tends a herd, Apollo is more of a hunter
@@mattmayhem4377 I never said Odysseus was better or that Eurylochus was worse. Both he and Odysseus are in the wrong MULTIPLE times throughout the musical. Just wanted to state that in this case I stand with Odysseus.
The reason why Odysseus looks so evil a lot of the time is because this saga follows the act 1 finale, "Monster" in which odysseus realizes that he needs to let go of mercy (as Poseidon said) in order to get back home.
NOOOO DUDE HE’S A MORALLY GREY CHARACTER WE’RE SUPPOSED TO EMPATHIZE WITH AND CONNECT WITH, HE’S NOT MEANT TO BE “GOOD” HE’S MEANT TO BE A MONSTER TO PUSH EVERYONE ASIDE TO GET HOME. DON’T SAY THATTTT
Not only that but the ENTIRE point is that ALL THE MORTALS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FULLY CHEER ON. Odysseus does stupid shit that puts his crew in danger. His crew does stupid shit that they are directly told not to do because it will kill them just for the sillies. The gods and stronger beings all further torture Ody and his crew, some for survival and some for justice/revenge. The entire point is that everyone makes choices that have snowball effects and no one person can be blamed for the outcomes of the story, they can only adapt and try to learn from what happens.
In the story the rest of the crew did the beeswax thing while Odysseus tied himself to the mast so he could get the information, in this version he also did the beeswax but read the siren's lips.
About the line “we are the man made monsters”, my sister told me that there are 3 like hidden meanings to it: 1. Men made monsters - they were men made into monsters 2. Man-made monsters - they were made into monsters by one man - Odysseus 3. /Man-made/ monsters as in unnatural - they were made into such terrible monsters (Odysseus too) that it was unnatural for all of them I swear Jorge is the smartest musician on earth and he has all my respect. His work is absolutely amazing and impressive
She also told me that the six torches that Odysseus told Eurylachus to light was for the six men that were sacrificed to Scylla, so he would have to live with the guilt of the death of those 6 men like he had to with the 558 of the crew that were lost to Poseidon. That’s why he couldn’t answer Eurylachus in Mutiny; because getting home and seeing his family wasn’t the reason he did that.
The more I listen to this saga in context with the other ones, the more I kinda see Ody's side I mean, it was between all of them dying to Poseidon or sacrificing 6 men to Scylla Then my man is like "don't kill that cow bro or we all will die" and then they did Without Ody, we know they wouldn't of made it home without him Ody's original plans to make it home would of worked if Eury never betrayed him and opened the bag It truly is not just a saga, but a whole story about endless suffering.
9:12 It's an official concept album for the Musical and not a one man show, Mathew 😂❤ it's actually different people singing. Jorge aka Mr. Jalapeño himself, gathered a lot of people around himself to voice different characters 😄
"im gonna listen to it in order" Proseeds to start halfway through Yes i know he did two other vids but thats like 8 songs, some of which aren't even f*cking finished Also, epic the musical out of context
Actually in ‘Suffering’ and ‘Different Beast’, Jorge chose a new approach to the siren situation, in which Odysseus tries to communicate with the sirens to know how to escape Poseidon But in the original Odyssey, the whole crew puts beeswax in their ears (to be immune) except Odysseus because he wants to be the first man alive who has heard the siren’s song. So he asks his crew to tie him to the mast and not release him no matter how much he begs for it
So I think you’re missing a bit about Mutiny and Thunder Bringer. - the God of the Sun mentioned is Helios, Greek Titan of the Son who is the embodiment of the Sun and sees most everything that happens. He told Zeus. - while it sounds like it’s just Euriochus that kills a cow, remember that he generally speaks for the entire crew and everyone is now singing his lines except Odysseus. - It’s common for Captains to be held responsible for things their crew did. So Zeus is asking Odysseus will he take the punishment for the crimes of his crew or let the crew face their own judgement. Odysseus chooses to have the crew to suffer their own fate because a) He needs to see his wife, but also b) they did mutiny so he now rejects them as his crew as they rejected him as their captain
Please TAKE THE SUFFERING FROM US, and listen to every Saga in order. We beg you to. Mathew 😭😭😭💙 You might listened to one saga in order but you stilled missed the story. Even if your familiar with the Odyssey Jorge Rivera Herrans isn't only retelling. He made this his own written story and it is so awesome. Every winion here would come and watch you again when you finally go on this journey 😭
Mathew: *jokes about how his viewers are mad at him for watching EPIC out of order* Also Mathew: *proceeds to make them more frustrated by not fixing his mistake and watching Act 1 in order to get the proper context before jumping into Act 2* 💀💀💀
@abramdelisle5746 …no it’s not? The Underworld Saga is the end of Act 1. I can see why you would think Thunder is the end, but it’s not. Jorge has been clear from the beginning that the end of Act 1 is Underworld.
@abramdelisle5746 lol it’s okay! Like I said, I can see why people would think Thunder is the end of Act 1. There are a LOT of callbacks to songs in Act 1 and it definitely ends on what would be a great cliffhanger.
To be fair, his options were 1. Save the people who had mutinied and tied him up and killed Apollo's cow friends, when he knows for a fact that they would throw him under the bus EVERY TIME because they refuse to listen 2. He could save his own life, let the traitorous friends who fought beside him in war and he had to personally save at least 3 times at this pont die, and head home to Ithaca where his wonderful wife and child that he hasn't seen in more than 10 years are waiting. Neither were GREAT options, but as a husband and father I would take option 2 every time. The six members were initially sacrificed so that Scylla wouldn't have any available mouths to eat more people (Six mouths, six torches given to people at random, six dead men)
And let's be honest if Odysseus died they also wouldn't last long after him, he falls asleep they open the bag, he let's them go scout alone they get captured and turned into pigs, he is knocked out during mutiny they decide to harm Helioses cattle, Odysseus is the only person on that ship with even half a brain cell and the crew are worse then toddlers
By the way, an updated version of the first two sagas has recently been released, with a better quality of sound, I strongly advise you to listen to them (the Troy Saga and the Cyclops Saga), in the right order of course
To be fair to Ody here, the crew was choosing death anyway like look at how long they survive after the mutiny. And Eurolycus is just not fit to be captain he'll abandon his crew the minute that they got into danger and without Ody, that'll be everyday
I would love to see you go back and listen to the sagas in order. There are so many motifs and recurring ideas throughout that are so good!!. Just make sure to listen to the new remastering of the first two sagas. He had to redo them since the original distibuters of the first two were not paying him the royalties he earned.
Honestly, I don't even feel too inclined to watch this knowing how much you skipped over, because part of the fun of these reactions, to me, is seeing how people react to the story as it develops and hearing all the musical callbacks (that you are completely missing by skipping over the whole thing). And seeing the comments all getting on you for that as well, I know that if I were to try and watch this, I'd likely be as frustrated as a lot of them are. Please please PLEASE, if you're gonna continue this series, do it in order like we are all saying to do or you WILL be confused and you WILL miss way too much. If you continue it in order, there's a really good chance I'll come back and give this video a shot. And I do really wanna, because how could I not get excited to see someone getting invested in a series I enjoy?
Cause when you listen to all the songs, there are motifs and stuff that carry through all the songs, and it's a musical, you don't start a series halfway through
Mathew: ahh yes dont worry I will listen to Epic in order Also Mathew: let me not have listened to all of act 1 and thos I did weren't in order. The thunder saga is the start of act 2 and is only a small part of it
THAT TITLE- you take that back Matthew you take that back right now or so help me 13:49 Matthew go back to Greek mythology class. Charybdis is the whirlpool monster. Charybdis kills by dragging people into whirlpools. Scylla is the sacrificial monster. She has six heads, thus needing six sacrificial *crosses out lambs* humans
Eurylochus: Kills 500 men and makes it so that they have to go through everything after meeting Aeolus which makes it necessary for Odysseus to sacrifice 6 to save the rest that remain. Also Eurylochus: "You sacrificed 6 of us because of my mistake! Die!" Gotta say, I have a hard time feeling bad for him. I feel bad for the rest of the crew way more. Odysseus has screwed up a ton; but so has Eurylochus.
@TheSaharay1 Odysseus and Eurylochus are both responsible for that which is why I said Odysseus also has royally screwed up. But Eurylochus absolutely holds responsibility for it as well. If he had not opened the bag he was told carried the winds of the storm within it after his captain met with the wind god then they would have safely made it to Ithaca. They were nearly there. And if they landed then they would have safely escaped Poseidons wrath. So yes; they are both responsible for those deaths. Don't forget that Eurylochus is also second in command so I think it is fair to say he shares that responsibility since he did the act and holds a position of power within the crew.
@@TheSaharay1 Don't forget Polites, he's the one that wanted to listen to the Lotilus Eaters and went to the cave while Odysseus wanted to leave, Eurylochus also caused the death of Odys mother because she killed herself after the storm take them thinking they died
@@marth354 I don't think they would have escaped Poseidon's wrath once they landed in Ithaca. Ithaca is an island. And Posideon is the god of the Sea with a habit of carrying grudges long term. Assuming they would be safe just because they ended up on land at home is just naive.
its not just the story but musically it makes so much sense when u listen to them in order since jorge calls back on earlier songs, makes references, etc
Jorge actually has a video explaining how he did the vocals for scylla. I kid you not, Jorge is the embodiment of Apollo with how he comes up with his pieces. Or a Child of Apollo, take your PICK.
In the original the sailors all place wax on their ears to not hear the sirens while Odysseus, wishing to know what the song sounded like, tied himself to the mast. So, pretty much the inverse of what you said, funnily enough.
As Eury said, “If you want all the power, you must carry all the blame.” Eury made the mistake, he should be the one who dies for his STUPID STUPID STUPID MISTAKE
what's so fucked is that in the musical, Odysseus tried his absolute best to keep his crew from dying at the start. He only started to lose faith in them after the wind bag situation and after that he still tried to keep them alive (i personally would've let them all drown). Can't really blame him for growing resentful of his crew, the deaths before the thunder saga weren't really "sacrifices", just shitty accidents.
I don't know if you've noticed, but Jorge (the one making all of this) loves to give each character certain motifs and instruments to represent them. So the electric guitar you've pointed out is Odysseus's instrument, the harp you noticed in the last one was Hermes, the piano is Athena's which is why it's so prevalent in her two songs, etc. That's why each song tends to have a super unique feel cause it morphs to match the theming of the characters present
If you want to watch it in order here it is Troy saga (remastered) Horse and the infant Just a man Full speed ahead Open arms Warrior of the mind Cyclopes saga (remastered) Polyphemus Survive Remember them My goodbye Ocean saga Storm Luck runs out Keep your friends close Ruthlessness Circe saga Puppeteer Wouldn’t you like Done for There are other ways Underworld saga Underworld No longer you Monster That’s it so far
Okay, you're getting there, but FROM THE BEGINNING, SIR! THIS IS ACT 2. You at least need The Underworld Saga lol. The last song of Act 1 is called Monster. But yeah, the crux of Scylla/Mutiny is Odysseus said 'light up six torches' - Scylla had six heads. He sacrificed six men knowingly to get home. As for Zeus, its all metaphor for him putting Odysseus in a position where his pride as Captain and King is stripped and his true selfish nature is revealed - 'Pride is a damsel in distress, hiding away where only I can undress her. Try as she may not to confess, in the end its all the same once I apply all the pressure. Thunder bring her through the ringer, show her I'm the judgement call, the one to make her kingdom fall."
@@abramdelisle5746 Thunder Saga is the first Saga in Act 2. Underworld Saga was the end of Act 1, making Monster the Act 1 closer. If you watched the Live Stream during either Underworld Saga or Thunder Saga's release it said End of Act 1 after Monster.
I understand people siding on the crew with Mutiny, however last time he trusted his crew with something, aka the wind bag, they did the opposite of what he said so now he has to figure a way to get home, while being chased by Poseidon after being so closed just to lose it because of the greed of the crew and not trusting them to act reasonable when they have to go through Scylla's domain. Also he still cared about his crew after what they did by trying to stop them.
And in the live streamed animatic, he doesn't even look at who got torches it was basically random, he only turns around to tell them to row for their lives
I am so glad someone else made the Lord Farquad connection 😂 That said, while their mutiny was ABSOLUTELY justified, it was a little insane for them to think that Odysseus wouldn’t choose to save himself when Zeus came into the picture. Like, they literally just stabbed the man, I think it’s safe to say bridges were burned 🤣

“He turned from hero to villain real quick.” OF COURSE HE HAS! It’s almost like there was a whole 20 songs that lead up to him changing his morals. The core theme is literally, “when does a man become a monster.”
Literally 3 fucming saga of suffering
How dare you?"
Let's not touch on the fact that they could be charged with treason if they had managed to make it home.
Also
Odyessseus went to the cyclops island looking for food for everyone.
Circes Island the crew just barged into a strange woman's home with out asking questions - who got them out? Odeysseus.
Who killed the gods cows?
Who opened the wind bag?

That’s what happens when you don’t listen to the Circe saga or Underworld saga and skip right to the Thunder saga.
Its such a fast change from asking for mercy from circe then going "kill them all"
Even if it was multiple sagas just take a step back. He asked for help from circe, went to the underworld, and saw everyone dead
After that from just these songs he just goes "WHOS WITH MY WIFE" next song "I WILL MURDER EVERYONE IN MY WAY" then thunder saga starts. Like honestly the main reason hes a murderer now is just a misunderstanding from the prophet. These songs aren't explaining how long in between each song or anything else thats happened in between so they all feel right after each other.

This right here boost it
But he didn't sacrifice anyone before Scylla tho?

Anyways the Thunder Saga is the start of Act II of the musical.
(In case you do decide to go back and listen to them in order: Troy Saga, Cyclops Saga, Ocean Saga, Circe Saga, and Underworld Saga are all act I in that order.)
Update: You are own your own in terms of f*** Odysseus.
It's actually Helios' cattle, not Apollo's
"He turned from mercy to killing so quickly!" WELL, maybe if you watched it in ORDER and see the character arc. MR. MATTHEW MCKENNA.
3 fucking sagas of suffering did that to him I am unreasonably upset he did this
NOOOO DUDE HE’S A MORALLY GREY CHARACTER WE’RE SUPPOSED TO EMPATHIZE WITH AND CONNECT WITH, HE’S NOT MEANT TO BE “GOOD” HE’S MEANT TO BE A MONSTER TO PUSH EVERYONE ASIDE TO GET HOME. DON’T SAY THATTTT
Truest thing I've heard all day
Best take! Can’t believe people miss this!
@@Konpeimimi I ACTUALLY FULLY LOVE THIS OMGGG, PEOPLE ARE FLUID X STUFF JUST HAPPENS
@@KonpeimimiPenelope is mortal and did nothing wrong.
careful mathew, your firstborn might get thrown off a wall to end the trojan war
"The Suffering Saga" the most accurate way to call it tbh
In the story the rest of the crew did the beeswax thing while Odysseus tied himself to the mast so he could get the information, in this version he also did the beeswax but read the siren's lips.
The whole musical in order Mathew!! We're begging you! D':
There's so many details that you can appreciate so much more when listening in order
About the line “we are the man made monsters”, my sister told me that there are 3 like hidden meanings to it:
1. Men made monsters - they were men made into monsters
2. Man-made monsters - they were made into monsters by one man - Odysseus
3. /Man-made/ monsters as in unnatural - they were made into such terrible monsters (Odysseus too) that it was unnatural for all of them
I swear Jorge is the smartest musician on earth and he has all my respect.
You would recall a song with haunting overlapping vocals if you listened in order from the beginning 😂😂😂😂
This bro needs to start from the very beginning to understand XD
8:23
to be fair, being afraid of the water while being a sailor proves how good you are as a sailor.
The reason he's framed as a monster is because that's what he's decided to be, basically shutting off his empathy to get home
Mutiny means so much less if you haven’t heard Luck Runs Out before. WONDER WHY WE WANT YOU TO LISTEN TO THEM IN ORDER!?
"Calling Odysseus a monster feels so dark"
Me, casually glancing at the last song of act 1: hmm, it's almost like you're missing context
The more I listen to this saga in context with the other ones, the more I kinda see Ody's side
I mean, it was between all of them dying to Poseidon or sacrificing 6 men to Scylla
Then my man is like "don't kill that cow bro or we all will die" and then they did
Without Ody, we know they wouldn't of made it home without him
Ody's original plans to make it home would of worked if Eury never betrayed him and opened the bag
It truly is not just a saga, but a whole story about endless suffering.
It doesn't help that Ody's name literally means bringer of pain/suffering
@@anta_otomedevor the one who causes anger
Not Mathew completely missing The Underworld Saga (aka the best saga)
Nah Troy saga bops. Mainly because it has the solo open arms sung by my boi Polites. And it has Just a Man. And Warrior of the Mind.
Absolutely agree, No Longer You and Monster are by far the best songs so far!
I see where you are coming from but I like the troy saga best
The WHOLE musical in Order! PLEASE!
Other than that great video
9:12 It's an official concept album for the Musical and not a one man show, Mathew 😂❤ it's actually different people singing. Jorge aka Mr. Jalapeño himself, gathered a lot of people around himself to voice different characters 😄
Love how the comments just wanted him to react in order lol.
I agree.
JUST WATCH IT FROM THE BEGINNING
Odysseus is like the embodiment of the phrase live long enough to see yourself become the villain
"im gonna listen to it in order"
Proseeds to start halfway through
Yes i know he did two other vids but thats like 8 songs, some of which aren't even f*cking finished
Also, epic the musical out of context
Oh i know this is gonna piss me off so much
"wow ody really switched up out of the blue" NO HE DID YOU MOTHER-
Greatly enjoying Ody's descent into Villainy and Matthew continuing to not listen in order.
He's just doing it on purpose at this point lol
MATTHEW, LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE EPIC MUSICAL IN ORDER AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!!!
I would spend my left kidney if he watch in order. Just so he could appreciate it properly
Actually in ‘Suffering’ and ‘Different Beast’, Jorge chose a new approach to the siren situation, in which Odysseus tries to communicate with the sirens to know how to escape Poseidon
But in the original Odyssey, the whole crew puts beeswax in their ears (to be immune) except Odysseus because he wants to be the first man alive who has heard the siren’s song. So he asks his crew to tie him to the mast and not release him no matter how much he begs for it
It was also to let the crew know when to remove the beeswax. When they were out of the vicinity, he wouldn't be struggling to be free
And he even warned them, they decided their hunger was far to great and they gave up going home, well they dug their own graves
Please TAKE THE SUFFERING FROM US, and listen to every Saga in order. We beg you to. Mathew 😭😭😭💙
You might listened to one saga in order but you stilled missed the story. Even if your familiar with the Odyssey Jorge Rivera Herrans isn't only retelling. He made this his own written story and it is so awesome.
Every winion here would come and watch you again when you finally go on this journey 😭
Mathew: *jokes about how his viewers are mad at him for watching EPIC out of order*
Also Mathew: *proceeds to make them more frustrated by not fixing his mistake and watching Act 1 in order to get the proper context before jumping into Act 2*
💀💀💀
Thunder is the ending to act 1. Your point still stands, though
@abramdelisle5746 …no it’s not? The Underworld Saga is the end of Act 1. I can see why you would think Thunder is the end, but it’s not. Jorge has been clear from the beginning that the end of Act 1 is Underworld.
@@Sarah-Has-Arrived you are correct and I am dumb. I don't why I though that
@abramdelisle5746 lol it’s okay! Like I said, I can see why people would think Thunder is the end of Act 1. There are a LOT of callbacks to songs in Act 1 and it definitely ends on what would be a great cliffhanger.
To be fair, his options were
1. Save the people who had mutinied and tied him up and killed Apollo's cow friends, when he knows for a fact that they would throw him under the bus EVERY TIME because they refuse to listen
Lots of things would make more sense if you actually watched the first act in order 😭
I RAN I STOPPED EVERYTHING I WAS DOING, LETS GO MATHEW
Seriously you can't react much lost break down or even probably enjoy epic without watching In fucking order
3:06 why everyone was shouting to watch them in order 😂
Cause when you listen to all the songs, there are motifs and stuff that carry through all the songs, and it's a musical, you don't start a series halfway through
You should watch the whole musical in order to understand it all and get the references!!!
Mathew: ahh yes dont worry I will listen to Epic in order
Also Mathew: let me not have listened to all of act 1 and thos I did weren't in order.
The thunder saga is the start of act 2 and is only a small part of it
THAT TITLE- you take that back Matthew you take that back right now or so help me
13:49 Matthew go back to Greek mythology class. Charybdis is the whirlpool monster. Charybdis kills by dragging people into whirlpools. Scylla is the sacrificial monster. She has six heads, thus needing six sacrificial *crosses out lambs* humans
Odysseus says "Row for your lives" after Scylla says hello, not "run for your lives"
Bc yes they are on a boat
With oars
Mutiny has so many references to old songs, it's kinda sad they're going over Matthew's head...
This mf doing everything but listening to it in order
Eurylochus: Kills 500 men and makes it so that they have to go through everything after meeting Aeolus which makes it necessary for Odysseus to sacrifice 6 to save the rest that remain. Also Eurylochus: "You sacrificed 6 of us because of my mistake! Die!"
Gotta say, I have a hard time feeling bad for him. I feel bad for the rest of the crew way more. Odysseus has screwed up a ton; but so has Eurylochus.
Eurylochus wasn't the one who killed 500 men. That was still Odysseus bc he is still the person who PISSED POSIDEON OFF!
@@anastasija6866 what's even the point of Ody's character if yall blame everything that went wrong on other characters??
8:45 If you watched it in order, maybe you would *know* what was and wasn't changed :3
12:52 THE CYCLOPS WAS 18 SONGS AGO WDYM????
its not just the story but musically it makes so much sense when u listen to them in order since jorge calls back on earlier songs, makes references, etc

Thunder saga is the end of act 1your point still stands though
@@abramdelisle5746 Thunder Saga is the first Saga in Act 2. Underworld Saga was the end of Act 1, making Monster the Act 1 closer. If you watched the Live Stream during either Underworld Saga or Thunder Saga's release it said End of Act 1 after Monster.
@LadyGreensleeves33 yup thats totally my bad i don't know how I got that confused
@@anastasija6866 which is the canonical events.
I am so glad someone else made the Lord Farquad connection 😂
That said, while their mutiny was ABSOLUTELY justified, it was a little insane for them to think that Odysseus wouldn’t choose to save himself when Zeus came into the picture. Like, they literally just stabbed the man, I think it’s safe to say bridges were burned 🤣
As an aussie, i will find a way to string up matthew so that he listens to the 5 WHOLE ALBUMS that came before this one. i get he already listened to them but please, the 25ish songs in those albums make everything in the thunder saga hit that much harder.
