Great video. I just have one small critique. I would have shown the viewers how to check the mesh at at least 4 quadrants of the spur geae. In my experience, very few spur gears have zero run out. This means that there will usually be a section of the gear where the mesh will tighten up. It's a good idea to make sure you don't have a tight spot.
That's what I did when I raced RC cars. I would check the mesh all around, because spur gears are not always perfectly round. Other than that Good Video.
Turbogramps I guess I haven't had those sorts of issues with the TLR spur gears. I pretty much set and forget because, honestly, if my mesh is set right it will accommodate any "untrueness" or the gear being out-of-round.
What about the bolt tension on the spring that’s on the drive shaft of that spur (silver spring in this video) My I can’t find anything on adjusting this or what it actually does or how to tune it properly.
That is cool. I never actually put the paper in between as I always thought you started the paper into the mesh and gave it a pull. If the paper tore it was too tight.
Do you use lock tight for final assembly? I just took my motor out of my cen colossus xt and it looked like there was some lock tight red on the screws. Every vid I've watched on setting the gear mesh doesn't look like anybody is using lock tight.
I have a losi ten t nytro.having problems out of the r.o.s.s. starter keep stripping gears. Would like to put in pull start motor in.is that possible ?
This is a great video tutorial for all levels of rc enthusiasts. The paper test is my favorite method.
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO FROM THE TRACKSIDE RACING GURU...

Always nice to have a refresher course!

Should I have to reset the gear mesh on a rtr ecx ruckus to keep the motor/esc from overheating before my 1800mah 2s Lipo battery dies?
Great tutorial, I always had issues getting the pitch set on my Nitro trucks. Does this hold true to metal gears as well?

Very useful information! Getting back up to speed after being out of the RC game a while.

Great video for beginners. Great info for veterans also.
Love the how to's you guys post.
Can you do a steering servo setup with the transmitter setup
Solid basic info here. Excellent
Great tip for beginners.
I have a Question would you need to get a different spur gear for a 3.5T motor
Gavin James-Dues Spur, it tepends, pinion, most definitely. Often it will be easier to get the correct gear ratio by going to a larger spur gear.
OK thank you
Do you know what gears I would need for a 3.5T motor
What is your dislike against thread lock on pinion gear grub screw?
Really informative. I'm not a fan of the paper method, but it's still a good video.

Been using paper to set mesh since 1994. You'd think I could just eyeball it by now.
