    when the first color tv came out my dad said flat screen high definition tvs weren’t thought to be invented for decades past when they actually came out in the 00’s. He was born in 1938 and worked for ibm and microsoft his whole life. Technology has always been more advanced than predicted and companies are always farther than they lead on. With virtual reality where it is right now i firmly believe based on how the world had advanced and continues to advance that within 30-40 years full dive will be mastered. Not introduced but nearly MASTERED. 100 years ago cars were still fairly new. Now they drive themselves. Its remarkable. My old ass will be 56 when that happens but you best believe ima be dual wielding with my grandkids pvping pwning all the n3wbs

    One of the most important recent advancements is the ability to manipulate the fluid in your inner ear. This can make your brain think it’s moving like going on a roller coaster and actually helps with motion sickness since the movement and what you’re seeing lines up. It’s super cool research if you’re interested

      Yeah, I feel that lucid dreaming is a very interesting topic. It's especially interesting and relevant because you have limited control over what happens in said dream. Correct me if im wrong i am no expert in this sort of stuff, but you know how when people get hit in the head really hard they go unconscious. Well for those of you that want know why we go unconscious from a hit like that is because the brain bounces around which leads to brain trauma. Well in the show sao the nerve gear uses microwave signals and some other stuff right. So what i was thinking what if we use a microwave signal to trick the brain itself thinking that it went into trauma or something like that and it doesnt affect the health of the brain. Then another microwave signal will read what our brain is trying to do (like walk, talk, grab, run) stuff you do on a daily bases. Then the other signals will trick your brain into the senses of touch, smell, taste etc. Then when you want to log out the signal that keeps you unconscious will turn off allowing you to wake up in the real world. Please correct me if im at all wrong and if it should be done a different way.

      The greatest powerful graphic processor is our brain. We use it to see reality. And reality is on the highest settings as far as anyone is concerned. Imagine..if a piece of technology can control our brain. Thats all we need. And if scientists, great figures of the past quoted, "The computer will be useless and will offer no value to anyone." This paraphrased quote is 50-60 years old. What exactly is on the race for nowwdays. It isn't college, or dreams, it isn't even money. It is games. And where there is a high concentration focused on something like that, everyone is working everyday to create full dive.

      Yes at first it probably will be expensive but not millions of dollars thats a bit much. The oculus rift vr was about 500 on release? I might be wrong but it was around there and its even cheaper now. Full dive could be 1,000 or hell even the price of some cars maybe a couple thousand. Millions of dollars is pushing it. Thatd only be if the company WASNT selling it publicly. On release there would definitely be mass production and it would be at a SOMEWHAT affordable price the average consumer can buy. The future is built on consumers and producers but hey who knows. Maybe full dive will be an ULTRA luxury item like a Lamborghini. Costing A LOT of money and staying that way. If it did turn into that it would be sad. Because many cant make enough for a lambo in a lifetime unless you rent it. That makes me think about it. Maybe u RENT full dive headgear if expensive.

    The VR in Ready Player One isn't full dive. They use controllers to move about and their senses aren't fully immersed like fiction VR from SAO.

    • @AverageG4mer
      @AverageG4mer  6 лет назад +2

      the definition for full dive is just total immersion, and can take many different forms, doesnt have to necessarily be exactly like SAO or Accel world, and in Ready Player One, the higher end systems are full body controlled without controllers, only the lower end systems require the controllers. So i guess a better title for this would be "how close are we to total immersion vr" but people generally dont search for total immersion because full dive is a more searched term lol

  • @aesirgod817
    @aesirgod817 6 лет назад +34

    Your fundamental approach is wrong, if we are talking about the "full dive" like in SAO. Yes of course you can stimulate the diffrent parts of your body to get a similar effect, however it's always just gonne be stimulus. To get the "full dive" you would need direct acces to a person brain. First of all would be cutting the connection to your real body(only the sense, you need to keep the body alive), you don't wanna go running against a wall while in VR afterall. Next would be giving your brain a new body in the Virtual World. So you need to directly feed the brain all senses. The nessesary calculations for this would be immense so I doubt we could currently pull this off.
    So what do we need:
    -Brain Reader
    -Sense Cutting of your body
    -Brain "Transmitter"
    -Much much Power

      Average Gamer that's awesome! There's a company called able gamers who adapt things but I think it'll take vr even longer to be able to offer a vr experience for those with special needs that doesn't lack compared to the able-bodied experience. That's why I can't wait till we have headsets like Sao where my physical body doesn't matter/affect my gameplay.

    I loved the video man, I would say something like SAO is a little ways off but something like Ready Player One is much more likely to happen in the next 5 years or so. We already have semi-haptic technology. So I’m glad that my generation will possible get to experience this

    Honestly one thing that VR really needs is collision detection and simulation.
    I imagine you would have some sort of harness that suspends you about a meter in the air, with some suit that uses air bags or something similar to force specific joints to move in a specific way.
    You would feel the weight of an object when picking it up, you would require to use actual force when opening doors. I feel like this would **extremely** improve immersion and get us way closer to full dive technology.

    Great video! Full Dive is level technology via direct neural interfacing on the level of what Sword Art Online demonstrated is likely still a ways off, but via the unison of multiple technologies present today incrementally improving, we should be able t o have a very similar, highly engaging experience all the while. Hope you'll keep up on the subject matter in the future, and if you'd every like to go over the subject matter with someone, I'm open to discussing ideas as well. Just check the link in my channel for my twitter. Keep up the good work :)

      I could see full dive vr being a hundred or more years off, not because the technology is too far off no, but because economically its not viable, it won't be cheap, only the rich will be able to use it and for companies wanting to make money, its not going to sell well/make enough on a production scale wise, only when it becomes dirt cheap will it be more mainstream and THAT is gonna take a few generations to accept....

    You can believe me or not believe but its all a choice.
    We are slowly are creating innovations for "full dive". What you see right now are a sequence of events, trials, experiments, the final products of the possibilities, in this video, right now is a huge test on what we can create through technology.
    In 10 years time, We will be able to control all senses through one sensory disposition. Taste, Smell, Touch, Feel, Hearing. Once that small gap is filled in, it will be a bridge to virtual reality. Something like sword art will come to life. Now all you got to do is spread the message, and as the message spreads, belief, events, thoughts, like minded people will be encouraged to gather and keep on trying until it succeeds. All you can do is be patient, and persistent, because its coming.

    In order to properly feel pain and touch and mirror ur movements, u can either

    B follow a ready player 1 type thing

    I would say in 5-6 years we would get it and plus I would love to live throughout Sword art online not because I love the franchise so much that it would be like being in the show but because I’m tired of reality honestly it’s just boring I want to be able to fly to the moon and feel it of being real I want to be able to have an adventure with friends in a dungeon instead of going to the movies irl and repeating the same thing over again and again. I’m tired of waking up in the morning asking myself do I want to get up and go through the same boring day again and I’m honestly tired of this life so I hope that this will turn into a reality cause if not their really isn’t a point of life to me. one of the main problems isn't simulating senses but removing them. if full dive happened the feeling your nerves are giving about temperature and what your touching would have to be stopped which would be extremely difficult to do and probably cause a lot of legal complications because it could endanger someones life if they lived alone and something like a fire happened

      SAO did not invent the term full-dive VR its just the first succesful medium to make the phrase popular. Full dive VR simply means total immersion or as defined by google - "Full-Dive VR is the perception of being physically present in a non-physical world. The perception is created by surrounding the user of the VR system in images, sound or other stimuli that provide an engrossing environment." the haptics, googles, and multi directional treadmill provide a very immersive experience. Jusy because it does it differently than SAO still doesnt mean it isnt full dive.

      Don't worry, if this thing ever happened things will eventually balance itself. Some group will appreciate real life more, some appreciate the vr world and others just love both. Having full dive vr is just putting a new environment for us and eventually things will balance out. The question is, will the balance goes towards the vr side of life or real life or in the middle.

      Your eyes have to be closed to dream. The headset would not have any screens, just small LED indicators on the inside for information like date and time, but you wouldn't be displaying the game to their eyes. You want to display it to their brain.

      John Bish if they can figure out what signals control that stuff, they could program it to leave those signals alone and read other signals through a calibration setup like the nerve gear had. You touch your body and the nerve gear notes the signals that controlled that movement and intercepts them before they reach that part of the brain. However, we wouldn’t want it tampering with all the signals like to the heart because then it could intercept those signals and stop your heart or some other vital organ.

    Ya know that there is emotiv which is electroencephalographic headset which can be used to control RC's or to use programs created to cooperate with it. It's reciving EM field changes in our brain and converts it to commands for system. Emotiv is working realy nice so we got half of the nervear. Now we need something to send EM impulses to our brain which will mimik senses. Here comes the DARPA. They're also working on full dive for few reasons:
    1Solider training(we've seen it also in SAO)
    2 Drone control
    3 this top secret one
    They say that they can imitate some of the senses using EM pulses but we have to wait fot the end of research and for civilian versions of their staff.
