    The bass cut switch is critical. I’m glad I purchased the full size version of the ODR-1

      Yes, I totally agree. On the big ODR-1 I have it on at all times.

    I had all of these plus the Wampler Belle (which is based on the Nobels circuit) and I did a side by side comparison for myself. To my ears, the Belle had more options and sounded better.

      That's interesting... I've not played the Belle myself yet, but I've heard only great things about it! Now I really need to test it!

    Love my mini... if I wanted less bass I'd have bought a Boss Blues Driver

    With the Tele loop I thought there was no meaningful difference between them, but with the LP the anniversary edition was shown to be more dynamic and less congested in the mids.

      You must be a seasoned guitarist... most other comments here just don't get it. A good overdrive pedal sounds good. A great overdrive pedala is responsive to the player. Thanks!

    Toss up between the special edition and the mini

    • @RichWordsMusic
      @RichWordsMusic  2 месяца назад

      They've all got their plus points. For me the 30th edition covers everything, but for space reasons the Mini naturally wins every time.

    Anniversary version sounded a little more open in the top end than the other two, but slim differences. I did order an anniversary edition though to try out with my bass!

    • @RichWordsMusic
      @RichWordsMusic  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, the differences are pretty slim in most settings - this video actually helps to prove how similar the three are pretty much across the board. I've not tried an ODR-1 with bass yet... that needs to happen soon!

      @@RichWordsMusic got mine in and it absolutely rips! Might have to get another for my smaller board; maybe I'll do the standard ODR-1 BC

    Thanks for the video. A small comment though: the first 2 pedals in the chain are not true bypass. Only the mini has true bypass switching. The larger ones have an active buffer circuit in their bypassed state. So chaining them all in series in not really a good idea for tone comparison demo. Try separating them for example in separate true bypass loops and listen to them that way. I wonder if the differences become smaller.

    I got the 30th and my serial number is 1776. I also have the teenie weenie one, and a clone built from Tim Pierce's ODR from the 80s.

    Thanks for the review Rich. Interestingly Line 6 have just added their version of the Nobels ODR-1 BC to their Helix products. I'm hoping you can get your hands on the new HX ONE which will have this algorithm too. It might make a good digital compared to analogue pedal review for this much loved Nobels pedal. Cheers

    • @RichWordsMusic
      @RichWordsMusic  10 месяцев назад +1

      That's a very good suggestion Keith - I might have to try that! I would love to try the HX ONE if Line 6 are up for loaning me one... will see if I can make it happen :) I'm also really excited to try the analogue modeled version in the BluGuitar AMPX - which was modeled from this very pedal in my video (Thomas had it before me for that purpose!).

    Another good review Rich. I like the look of this. How does it compare to a blues breaker?

    • @RichWordsMusic
      @RichWordsMusic  9 месяцев назад +3

      Thanks a lot Steve! It's a slightly different kettle of fish to a BB - has more oomph and a different mid range. Both are incredibly usable though, and the two stack together really well! So getting both is the way forward ;)

    I wish you would do softer more bluesy jam s. When u bang chords can’t really tell difference. That’s where. These type of pedals shine . The switching. Is good etc. just make a better easier. Bluesy jam. Nothing fancy

      Sorry, I know I'm not the world's most dynamic player, and I don't do blues either. Just not my thing. However, I took these pedals on to the BluGuitar livestream on Wednesday, and Thomas plays them in a way I think you'd appreciate much more - have a look at this: ruclips.net/video/ntx0cVyMY3s/видео.html
      (He talks a lot so you might have to skip through a bit 😉)

      @@RichWordsMusic perfect reply. What I don't need (because I don't play blues) is another soft bluesy demo. And there are tons. For us hack-and-slash chord bangers, we FINALLY know what these pedals sound like!

  • @garym5296
    @garym5296 10 месяцев назад +1

    Thanks for the review. Keep up your good work! 😀
    But like the vast majority of reviews/comparisons of pedals here on RUclips, it does not make sense to connect pedals with true bypass in series with pedals buffered bypass.
    In your review, the guitar (looper) signal is routed through 2 (maybe 3?) buffers before the pedal with true bypass.
    Buffered bypass cannot avoid "coloring" the signal, nor does it produce the sound of a guitar connected to a pedal with true bypass, which also "colors" the signal due to impedances.

      Thanks a lot Gary! And yes, you make a fair point. In an ideal world all this would be done much more scientifically and methodically to minimize such issues. If my channel ever gets bigger and I'm enable to devote more time and money to it, that's something I'll be looking at in future! Cheers for watching and rock on :)

  • @commodoor6549

    Please don't do comparisons using a loop. An important aspect of any overdrive is it responsiveness to player dynamics and intensity. You have to feel it. Using a loop defeats that purpose.

    • @erickaufmancustomguitars1351
      @erickaufmancustomguitars1351 4 месяца назад +2

      I like these loop comparisons. I want to hear the differences between these pedals. Besides, I cant feel anything with my hands but my tablet on a video. I can't even care about any latency between what I see and hear either. It's a video for Pete's sake.

    • @GertvanderDoes
      @GertvanderDoes 4 месяца назад +2

      That's exactly the point! Loops is the only way to get the same dynamics into each pedal without difference that could be attributed to that! Otherwise, who knows what tone difference is the pedal and what is caused by dynamics? If you want to feel them, you'll have to play them yourself. Go to a really well stocked store or order them and send them back. The last being a despicable practice but with the demise of brick and mortar stores we're more or less forced to it.

    • @commodoor6549
      @commodoor6549 4 месяца назад

      @@GertvanderDoes We will have to differ on that opinion. But as Robben Ford says of the Zendrive, it's all about the responsiveness.
