Scam Alert: Worried about your "cyber hygiene"? Join Mediacorp artiste Hazelle Teo and Mr Justiin Ang, Senior Director of Cyber Security Agency of Singapore as they share helpful tips on how we can protect ourselves from malicious cybercriminals.
This episode has taught us that we must always be very careful should anything seems too good to be true. Must verify with the seller's identity and if the company is legit.
Please also always remember not to transfer any money to anyone whom you do not know or you have never met up with before.
Finally another new Crimewatch episode
Ya haix.. why they dun upload every mth.

I always wonder whether crimewatch gives inspiration and advice for future criminals 😂
😂😂😂😂
No wonder the crime in SG here is worsening
YAY NEW EPISODE
Honestly, it is quite smart of them to make use of the voicemail to steal the OTP. Unfortunately, they used their wits in the wrong place...
ikr its so smart till even my friend (psle top scorer) dont get it hehe
Using the OTP is one thing. But loggin the user OUT. And input the 2FA so the user cannot login back is the anchor. Imagine not being able to use your messaging app for so many days. They practically steal your entire identity. Lol. All your hidden secrets if any affairs or etc. all will be revealed. Seriously outstanding.
Yes, hats off to this crook. its a very round about method but it works. Especially when a lot of people puts their phones on do-not-disturb mode from 12am to 7am (my Samsung phone does this by default). So they will never get awaken by the call and it automatically goes to the compromised voicemail box
Why is this case considered successful? The SPF did not manage to catch the mastermind Sean. Ownself praise ownself again?
All these scam case never catch the mastermind one 💀
The sad truth is if the perpetrators r in overseas...Sg law cannot apply to them...as it's under different jurisdiction...so sad 😔 especially for cybercrime...so we need to stay vigilant....
You so smart go and catch him lor
At least the SPF have successfully dismantled this scam syndicate. We will learn and remember to avoid becoming victims of scams as they are continuously rising in numbers.
Mastermind all are oversea.. can’t even locate them
That’s why crime watch last 3-5 episodes are all about scam case.
To educate people like you
i do not used the internet for paidment and still used in person to withdrawn money with id
I am a scout from Princess Elizabeth Primary and I love crimewatch
The headman of the syndicate is still out there. SPF did not cripple the syndicate...
Syndicate operate overseas.
“5. As scammers are mostly based overseas, our efforts to solve scam cases depend significantly on the cooperation from foreign law enforcement agencies. We are keen to enhance cooperation, but this will depend on their capacity and receptivity. Let me repeat that again. We are keen to enhance collaboration with foreign law enforcement agencies, but this will depend on their capacity and receptivity.
(a) Where possible, the Police work with overseas counterparts to exchange information and conduct joint operations to dismantle scam syndicates. In 2022, close collaboration between the Police and foreign law enforcement agencies led to the successful takedown of 13 scam syndicates.
(b) Since 2017, the Police have been a member of the multilateral platform called the Asset-Recovery Interagency Network - Asia Pacific. The network spans 28 member jurisdictions within the Asia-Pacific region and aims to increase the effectiveness of members’ efforts in depriving criminals of their illicit profits.
(c) INTERPOL also plays a crucial role in our fight against scams. They provide a platform for the Police to collaborate and share intelligence with the larger international policing community. In 2022, the Police participated in Operation HAECHI III, a global operation coordinated by INTERPOL over five months to tackle cyber-enabled financial crime. About 1,000 suspects were arrested and over USD$129 million worth of virtual assets were seized.
6. Enforcement alone, however, is not enough. We have also put in place upstream measures to try to prevent scammers from approaching Singaporeans in the first place. Such measures include working with telcos to block SMSes sent from unregistered sender IDs, and overseas calls attempting to spoof domestic phone numbers.
7. Ultimately, the best defence against scams is a discerning public. We have stepped up our public education efforts. This year, the Police, together with the National Crime Prevention Council, launched the new anti-scam campaign called “I can ACT against scams", which calls on the public to take concrete actions to protect themselves and their loved ones by taking the three key steps of ACT - “A”, “C”, “T”:
(a) “A” for “ADD(ing)” security features, such as installing the ScamShield app;
(b) “C” for “CHECK(ing)” for scam signs and to verify with official sources; and
(c) “T” for “TELL(ing)” authorities, family and friends about scams.”

*I don’t like the girl, the wife everything all so suspicious. Just buy la the gold. Crimewatch becoming very cringey already. In this day of technology where got people become so suspicious check company legit or not. Aiyoh nonsense la*
Easier to talk. I doubt you understand what the case is about. The hackers hack a person's WhatsApp. And from there they steal the identity of the person. And they go on to message the close relatives inside the WhatsApp and ask them to buy "Gold".
Imagine getting a message from your brother or sister to buy Gold. I mean if you didn't know about the scam. You totally wouldn't suspect then and there. Since now you know it's easier to say. But then this scam was still new.
So that's why the victims fell for it. Because the person who messaged them about the gold offer was their very close knit family or friends. For that they never suspect. Because these days there is still trust.
So many times i lodge complaint about singapore night bazaar hiring illegal workers without permit to work and yet they dont give a fuck
