Thank you for doing these videos and giving us tips. I really appreciate your videos, they are very clear.

I appreciate all your extra tips and tricks! I am "late" to the party, and honestly scared to death to proceed. I made the 1st months blocks and they were wonky. I decided to remake them, cutting the pieces larger then trimming. Still not perfect but much better. Month 2 is sitting patiently for me to get brave and "do the math" to allow for trimming. I am SO THANKFUL for you for showing how to paper-piece. I have never used that method BUT am planning on trying this method for some of those tricky pieces. I wish the pattern had that as an option for those of us with less confidence (ME) I have quilted on & off for over 36 years and in my early years it was all about getting things done fast and accuracy was not my focus...now I am aiming for "perfection" and my confidence is low and I stall out a lot. Your video's really are so helpful and I appreciate them SO MUCH

How do you figure out how big to make the fabric on paper piecing? I always seem to short myself.

Great question, Amy! I measure the width and length of the piece and then add AT LEAST a 1/4 inch to each side - 3/8 is even better. As a beginner paper-piecer I would sometimes go up to 1/2 bigger on each sides.
I have a couple of other videos where I show paper piecing too. Check out Month 8 of the Illusions BOM from last year, and there's a time-lapsed video of a pineapple block that shows me doing a more complicated block.
      Good luck and keep quiltitng!
