The solid state amps that Orange makes are the BEST!! I have gigged with a Super Crush 100 and it sounds absolutely amazing. I also have the same amp you are doing your video on. I love it. Great for practice or doing small gigs. Can’t go wrong with Orange
I couldn’t agree more! I wish we had these amps when I was a kid just starting out in the early 90s! I also love that they don’t have the maintenance that’s necessary with tube amps (and the cost of that maintenance)! Thanks, so very much for watching, and never stop jamming! 🍻
@@sid35gb He is. Amazing tone from off the wall EQ. A lesson to us all in that bass, mid, and treb don't need to be stuck at 12 O'Clock. The guy is an inspiration.
Thank you! I picked this up a few weeks ago and have been messing around with it without much purpose other than trying to dial in certain sounds. Your video opened my eyes to what this amp can do and gave me some new things to try out.
Nice demo, good playing. Cheers. I’ve got the 35RT, this amp’s smaller sibling, and am very happy with the sound indeed. (It also gets along well with my Gretsch 5422, yay).
I've owned this amp for a long time now and I never knew that it could break up on the clean channel, cheers for that mate and also awesome review!!🎸🤘🤘
It’s amazing how far solid state amps have come in the past 25 year, eh?! I appreciate it so much! It definitely motivates me to keep producing this series! Thank you, and never stop jamming! 👊🏻😎
thank you!!! bought a used one for $300 and I like it alot... was looking at my amazon purchase history today. i bought jj tubes in 2011 that were two for $9.... now they're $30 for two..... WHAT! solid state is my new friend...
That’s cool you got one for $300 used! You’re not kidding about tubes. It’s gotten so pricey to replace them when they inevitably die. Solid state definitely has come a long way! Thanks, so much for the comments and for watching! Never stop jamming!
Thanks for the great demonstration of this amp. I really appreciate that you focused on how to best showcase the amp and not just your playing, which is excellent!! I want to get this mainly for at home practicing. Can you get good sounds at quieter volume?
That’s really cool. I appreciate the kind words! Since the amp is solid state, you can get great tones at any volume - even quieter ones. I use it for everything: practicing, recording, and gigging. I hope this helps! Thank you so much for watching! Never stop jamming! 🍻
I replaced my speaker cable with a longer monster cable. Best thing about the new cable is now I can plug any amp directly into the orange speaker and use it as a cab whenever I want to.
@@OneRayMusic I’m about to get the same amp off the used market, I know it’s been out a while but heard really good things about it, I have a couple tube amps but wanted to try a good solid state 👌🏼 your video helped me make my decision, so thank you 🙏🏼
Got this amp couple days ago. Probably not a good time to buy, everything is so expensive right now lol. The only gripe so far for me is with humbuckers (Les Paul Std) on the dirty channel, it sounds too fuzzy, at least at bedroom volume levels, haven't tried at higher volume levels yet, maybe it clears it up. But I put an MXR EVH overdrive pedal in front of it and it tightens up to something more crispy than fuzzy.
That’s cool you picked one up! Yeah, for sure, everything is still crazy right now - understandable. For hotter pick-ups, I would recommend rolling the gain back a bit. The dirty channel definitely gets pretty filthy. It does take pedals really well (that’s what I’m currently doing). Did you run your EVH with the dirty or clean channel? Thanks so much for watching! I appreciate it! 🤘🏻😎
That means a lot, man! I could have done even more, but I’m trying to keep these reviews around the 10 minute mark. These have been fun to produce! Thanks, as always, for watching! 🤘🏻😎
That’s wild that you said that. I’ve thought about that a lot! At the end of the day, it’s been fine playing live with it. If you want to use an overdrive on the clean channel, I would recommend a mid boost type of pedal like a Tube Screamer to help you pop through the mix! Great question, and thanks for watching!
I’d imagine it would be. The EQ is very versatile and should be able to dial in those awesome Ric tones. Thanks so much for watching, and never stop jamming! 👊🏻😎
You can use internal plus external (8 Ohm minimum) or external only (8 or 16 Ohm). Internal is 16 Ohm and if you add an external cab at 16 Ohm it will run them parallel for 8 Ohm total load.
Only pedal I've put in yet is MXR EVH 5150 and works great. You can also skip the FX loop for finicky pedals, the inputs are in the back unerneath speaker.
I’ve boosted it with a Catalinbread Boost and an Ernie Ball MVP (Volume with boost circuit). Both worked really well to push the front end of the amp. Thanks for watching, and have a great weekend! 👊🏻😎
@@OneRayMusic Thank you! Are you running that into the front or the loop? I've gigged my CR60 twice lately and I really need that solo boost! Love the amp otherwise.
I ran it into the front. I’m sure it would work through the effects loop though, too if you want to keep the same amount of gain - just be louder in the mix.
@@OneRayMusic Just discovered that my old Boosta Grande pedal only works on the clean channel and seems to have zero effect on the dirty channel, running straight into it. Interesting. I'm thinking Tube Screamer on the clean channel, with boost, and setting the dirty channel for whatever is appropriate. This gives me essentially six possible combinations of gain, tone, and/or volume. Thanks for helping.
Tube amps vs solid state....no difference what so ever. The only difference is one brand may sound better than another. Every tube amp has solid state components in it.

Best review of this amp I've seen - you sold me! Really well done.

Loud enough for a Doom Metal rehearsal?
