- Aim Goal Target Objective Purpose - Meaning Examples Difference - ESL British English Pronunciation
www.iswearengli... An explanation of the differences between aim goal target objective and purpose . An aim is something you are pointing your actions towards , it is the direction you are going in order to achieve a goal, target or objective. A goal is the thing you are trying to do it is more normally a short term thing that you are trying to achieve. A target also is a shorter term objective that you are trying to meet, there may be many short term targets to meet before you fulfil your final objective. An objective is more often the final goal or target, it is what you are trying to achieve overall in the long term . A purpose is a reason for doing something , it is the philosophy behind the reasons why you are trying to meet shorter term goals or targets in order to reach your final objective.

Very good explanation .How all these are different from agenda?
thanks you're perfectly very good .
This is a really clear explanation, but I've heard loads of other really clear explanations that define the terms differently. E.g. objectives being defined as 'measurable steps on the way to aims/goals', so overall, I'm still confused, unfortunately!
The problem is that there is a lot of overlap in the meanings of these words.
Objectives might be defined as short term aims which are targets to meet if you want to achieve your long term goal or final objective.
Nicely done
Thanks ALEX
