@elliotstarchannel2023 Perhaps you play as Ludwigs son (or daughter). I do recall a part where a radio talks about a child being left at Ludwigs door step. It's assumed they're dead, but it's a dream sequence, so it could be a metaphor 🤔
I don’t think project playtime took place after the hour of joy because that event would have gone all over the news and people would most likely not go in the factory. Even if it didn’t I’m sure the some of the resources extraction specialists (ones who survived) would have told everyone(unless people didn’t believe them and thought they were crazy).
We also have to remember that the protagonist only survived the Hour of Joy because he was not present. He simply didn't go to the event. Either he knew about what was about to happen or something else happened. Maybe he quit.
All very good points, no information yet about the protagonists location during the event. I would also lean towards them not working at Playtime at that stage.

What if: The protagonist is both an orphan of Playtime AND an employee?? Like obviously a good number of children were adopted and lived lives outside Playtime. How many of them went back to the place that gave them a home? Only to discover and take part in inhumane experiments? Just a thought just a thought
the fact that one of the nightmare scenes after catnap took our gas mask in the counselors office takes place in the school suggests this. poppy even asks "do you know who we once were?" with the POV from one of the student's desks. I think we must have been an orphan many years ago that began working at the factory, rising up in the rankings to eventually become a higher-up employee.
It’s not that crazy of a theory. Considering a lot of the time children who are part of programs, or people who are part of programs, will end up working for that program when they are better off. It’s some thing that happens a lot in the real world. For instance I’m a recovering addict, and I was a part of a childhood /young adult homeless program from 18-25. A few of the people who I used to live with at the building, ended up working for the program. I also worked for them too while I was still living there. As well as I know a few people who work at shelters that they used to stay at. So it’s some thing that happens a lot in the real world, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they took inspiration from that.
CATNAP!!! That large poppy flower is only seen 4 times in the game: 1) The letter we recieve telling us to find the flower 2) The outside of where we find Poppy's case 3) The key to Elliot Ludwig's room 4) The button Poppy pushes at the end of the game to lower us down before Kissy is attacked. We keep finding that flower. I wonder how it will all come together?
@ltube1749 Given the cryptic amount of lore in the game, it just seems like mentioning Ludwig had a deceased child was a red herring. Poppy could be the wife who divorced him for all we know. That's one way to ensure your spouse never leaves. If Poppy is that child though I am gonna feel so silly lol
Catnap is definitely my favourite enemy/character so far! I feel like there's so much more to his story and so much more layers to his character that we haven't seen yet. Also, I think that the game is alluding to us that our protag wasn't just some random innocent employee that escaped the hour of joy by sheer luck, I fell like it's hinting that the protag was once a scientist working on the bigger body initiative but then fled once they realized what they were doing was wrong. And maybe that's how they got away from the hour of joy.
Because I believe it’s Rich who has had a tape in every chapter so far, as a disgruntled employee, I wonder if we are him. Every character mentions how they remember us: rich has worked in every location of the facility that we’ve seen so far, and as of chapter 3 was then promoted to a scientist position. Considering rich genuinely cared about the kids, but got wrapped up in experiments would be a good reason for him to feel guilt, knowing the ins and the outs of the facility, and extensively spied on by the company. Idk it just seems like they’re hinting that rich is important.

He's the only character so far in the series (besides for Elliot) that seems normal and seem to actually care for the kids and thinks that what the company is doing is pretty messed up even if it's intention were "good". I can totally see a scenerio of him being promoted to a scientist and being introduced to the bigger body initiative and going along with it at first because he wants to help the children only to become overwhelmed with grief of what he has done and fled shortly after. Or maybe he knew something was up because the toys knew that he cares for them genuinely and warned him or do something else to hint that he shouldn't come on the day the hour of joy was done. Either way, the most logical conclusion at this point is him being our protag.

But regardless of who it is, I do wonder if the protagonist ever got involved in experiments, because from poppy showing the tape, we know he wasn't at happy hour, nor knew it would happen, and the hallucination mentioning "may you find horrors beyond your comprehension" implies to me that he didn't even know about the experiments. Bc if he did, wouldn't those horrors be fully expected, and if he participated in it, wouldn't he very much be able to understand at least part of them? Showing up to a letter about his missing colleagues too... Anyone involved in the experiments would know the creatures were intelligent and able to kill. He couldn't have come actually expecting to find his coworkers, or at least not be fully clueless as to what may have happened to them (and it seems he really was given what poppy says when giving the tape). The characters remember him, but address him as if he knows practically nothing about that side of the factory for the most part imo, especially on that part. Also he was willing to leave the factory almost as soon as he was presented with an option to, even if he did hang around longer than most, and freed poppy even though other toys had already attempted to kill him. Which shows he was dedicated to setting things right, but not ready to deal with the creatures? Like I feel someone that was aware of them and was willing to kill in self defense (which protag clearly is) wouldn't have shown up empty handed. I'm not asking for a gun, but I feel he would've brought something. Basically I feel a lot of stuff points to portage being regretful but having never been fully aware of what was happening. Poppy saying "they did nothing wrong" when defending the protagonist too. Someone that partook in experiments couldn't have their hands fully clean. And ofc the protagonist doesn't, at least if we're to believe that the guilt he experiences in the dream is fully warranted. I want to be clear that the dream sequence does imply to me that protag was directly involved in the killing children process more than it implies he wasn't (that radio audio was very specific, and ofc even if involved in experiments that doesn't mean he could be prepared for how much worse everything is now, "horrors beyond your comprehension" could be that). But the rest of the stuff leaves me conflicted as to whether he really knew about/partook in/supported the experiments. Im probably just reading too much into it, but it did plant doubt in me, and left me wondering if he feels guilt because he supported all of it by just working there and ignoring sketchy shit, rather than because he went as far as knowingly hurting the kids. Also, counting in that he later somehow became an employee to be able to get into the higher ups and help do something for the children's safety? Out of guilt?
I’m loving the “Ollie is the prototype” theory. It makes some sense: the prototype wants all the toys to “merge” into him or whatever as to what mommy long legs referred to. Both mommy long legs and cat nap were immediately taken by the prototype when they were killed. Meaning the prototype is watching and is always there. Ollie helped us kill cat nap, and no one has ever seen him. Remember the prototype has the ability to change voices and we’ve only ever heard Ollie. I think that the plan is for us to kill all the others, then the prototype will finally be completed and will kill us.

Yeah it's a pretty popular theory going around and it makes a lot of sense tbh. Ollie also, whenever he is talking to us, sounds *way* too excited for a child who is stuck inside an orphanage of a facility where gruesome murders and experiments are taking place (on other kids like himself). That's like... REALLY disturbing. Not to mention that he seems to have a lot of inside information too... Who Catnap is, how many Smiling Critters were there and the fact that they're all dead now. Kid seems really fishy, ngl.

I just find it ironic that he was electrocuted as a human boy which the prototype was there and saved him. But unfortunately turn him inadvertently into Catnap. Then when we fight him as Catnap we electrocuted him to defeat him and once again put him into the situation of close to death again, and there is the prototype again only this time instead of helping him like he did when he was a child the prototype kills Catnap this time. In speculation this could mean that the prototype was accepting his fate or figured that Catnap would be a crutch since he might have to save him again from the same situation.
Damn he did go out the same way, I didn't even think of that... Catnap worshiped Prototype and since Prototype merges with other toys, maybe Catnap wanted that?
Someone in jacksepticeye's playthrough offered the possibility that Catnap was offering himself to the Prototype. I rewatched it 'cause I was curious and Catnap poses like he did at the shrine so it makes me wonder if it wasn't an offering rather than a plea for help also.
@@apollochodev2886I think it was an offering. He wasn’t going to be much of a help especially considering his gas wasn’t working and I find it unlikely it could have been fixed by any of the toys. So instead of being a “burden” to the prototypes plan, he would rather go on and be one with him like the other toys.

After all, the prototype didn't really have to save catnap from anything when we electrocuted him... like he showed up but he didn't do anything, catnap seemed to recover from being electrocuted on his own. So the prototype faking a helping hand and then killing him felt very weird/out of nowhere and dumb to me. Cause even if he doesn't care, he could still use catnap to work for him. Also catnap didn't hold the hand that was held out to him, he just went into a worshipping position, which would be a strange reaction, if he were thinking the prototype was offering help. Interpreting the scene as him self sacrificing makes way more sense. Also completes the story in a fucked up poetic way (Theo got electrocuted, the prototype "sacrificed" something of his to save Theo, Theo gets electrocuted again, and self sacrifices to help the prototype)
@@apollochodev2886 He absolutely was. I just finished watching Jacksepticeye's video (which is how I ended up here) and Catnap is 100% offering himself. The way he keeps his gaze on The Prototypes hand while getting to his knees and reaching out with both hands open, instead of getting up and reaching for the hand for help would be so hard to argue that he was doing anything BUT offering himself. He did what he needed to do, and he knew it was his time, he knew it was all coming to a close.
The Hour of Joy is easily one of the most fucked up things I’ve ever seen. Indiscriminate brutal killing of everyone in the building out of nowhere, each one probably experiencing insane fear and panic seeing their friends being killed for no apparent reason. THEN the bodies where consumed over a decade… Damn…
It reminds me sort of 'the happiest day ever' from fnaf, although it's different in many ways to 'the hour of joy'. 'Happiest day' as we know is when the MC (missing children) chased William Afton (their murderer) to the storage room, where he willingly puts on the suit he killed the MC, and gets spring locked by the suit, and 30 years later is said suit. As to where 'hour of joy' is when all the bigger bodies of playtime co kill everyone, innocent or guilty, and then bring them to the lower parts of playtime. They eat of the corpse for possibly a decade until we (the player) come to the factory in 2005 because of a note someone sent us.
The fact that Theo was only 7 years old, so after 4 years as Catnap he was only 11 No wonder Theo believes in the prototype if the prototype had saved him Also I think his voice is like that because he was fighting to breath after being electrocuted
It's because of the voice box, none of the BBE smiling critters would sound like their cartoon counterpart because of the bigger bodies experiment and become the cartoon was made sometime after them Why would playtime co use the voice of the BBI smiling critters when they sound like CN and DD broken or not when they don't want people to know that they are using kids to turn into toys.

Also they thought catnap voice box was broken, catnap doesn't talk much like when before he was turned into a toy. He didn't have many friends but the prototype. If catnap voice box is broken then so is Dogday's because he voice is just like catnap voice was after 4 years of being a toy. If the voice box isn't broken then that's how they sound because of the experiments.
The way this game has evolved is incredible. An indie game with such big lore is insane to me. So many possible theories. I can't wait for the next chapter.
Fnaf is also something like this. The lore according to me is beautiful and there are several games and books, official songs and even a recent movie tho it was a bit bland it helped tie up some of the lore too and was still nice. I think if you like poppy playtime you will like Five Nights At Freddys too (fnaf) too!
The theory about the cardboard cutouts is interesting. Dog Day does mention himself being the last Smiling Critter, but whether that meant last one alive or last one not brought under Catnap's control I don't think was specified. I just assumed he meant the others all died, but if they didn't and became followers of the Prototype instead that would be fascinating.

They said that all the critters were dead except Carnap no one knew dogday was alive. And was he really alive? He was a sacrifice for the smaller toys to eat and eventually merge under.
If Ollie ends up beings one of the other toys we've already seen so far, I'm betting on him being a BoogieBot since Ollie is able to send us batteries and keys. How would he get that stuff if he didn't probably hack into a network to send them to us? And BoogieBot *is* a robot, so makes sense how he'd have access to those types of things. And Ollie seems to know a lot about the machines in Playtime Co. so I think he's possibly a mortified version of BoogieBot.

Two 'amazing' theories. Our MC called in sick the day of Hour of Joy. Not because he knew, but because he got absolutely shitfaced the night before. Kick-Me-Paul is the true evil mastermind and the prototype actually worships him. Just thought about this after writing this comment. An actual thought. Unless the dream sequences are some magic tomfoolery, the MC did have knowledge of what was really happening.

I honestly think the protagonist is either Rich or Stella. I would prefer if it was Stella though. Especially after her tape in chapter 3. It sounds as if she honestly was surprised that one of the orphans wouldn't be available to be adopted and that she's confused by the "testing" status. She's portrayed as so wide-eyed and up-beat, that I wouldn't be shocked if she somehow blinded herself to what was going on or didn't realize it at all. Which would make sense that when/if she found out, she'd be haunted by guilt for having played such a major part in it.
Catnap! I really love how poppy playtime got more creepy in chapter 3. Don't get me wrong chapter 2 had it's moments here and there. But the way that the prototype spoke is just, ugh! Creepy!!

And maybe it's 10 years later because the toys/monsters are finally starved enough that they aren't so strong? They'd have a better shot at beating them.. MY question is, why hasn't this place been investigated by the police? Then when the police disappeared, the government? Surely this would be noticed...or did I miss something that explains this?

I realize that there's no information on this, but what was Playtime producing between the years of 1930 and 1950? 1930 is a weird time to start a luxury business (and toys are a luxury item) since it's during the Great Depression in the US, so there wouldn't have been that many people to buy products even if they thought they were cool. Since I have no doubts that you've done your research and the date is correct, this makes me wonder if they weren't making toys originally. We haven't seen any posters of toys that pre-date Poppy. The other thing that I'm interested in during the 1930 to 1950 timeframe is WWII. It makes sense to me that whether or not Playtime was making toys, they would have stopped and rerouted production during the war years. This may be why they had so many gas masks to hand. Perhaps that was their contribution to the war effort, and so later, when the whole poppy gas thing happened they had a ton of masks laying around for research purposes. But it also makes me wonder what else they were working on for the war effort considering how they developed other projects as a company. What is down in the depths of Playtime's history. Also, if the Swapimals had some limited success, then then should be more of them. Perhaps we'll get a Swapimals chapter? Also worth wondering what it means that the protagonist was paired with CatBee during the "make a friend" segment, and then we learn how people were paired with toys later on. Will the protagonist have other connections to CatBee going forward? Does it say something about our personality? Anyway, good job on the history. I totally missed that the company was founded so early and thought it was founded in the '50s.
I love this because i thought it was strange they mentioned specializing in making toys and surveillance. There is believed to be cameras in the toys. That w the gas masks, the red gas, I think they definitely worked for the government or for the war effort in some weird way first, and eventually disguised themselves in an innocent industry that also drives decent profits.
@@stepfitz1016 Thank you. But they could have started as a perfectly normal toy company. During WWII, the thing the US did for the allies was turn into a major manufacturing hub. We weren't being bombed, so we made stuff here and shipped it over there. It didn't matter what your company USED to do. We were suddenly no longer doing that and you were going to make things for the war because the government said so. The gas masks are particularly notable. Look up images of the Mickey Mouse gas mask that was intended to be more inviting and less scary for children. But this applied a lot of places. You make clothes? Not any more. you're making Uniforms for the troops and parachutes. A lot of companies switched gears to make different products. It's one of the things people were mad at Trump for during the pandemic. He could have done what was done during the war years and forced companies to make needed medical supplies instead of what they normally make. (Special beds were a particular sticking point that he instead created a situation where states were bidding against each other and driving prices up, which is bad for the taxpayers.) Anyway. Hadn't intended on getting political, it was just an obvious compare and contrast because it's the only other time I know of when we considered just mandating what companies make because we were in desperate need. The 1940s would be a particularly interesting time to know what Playtime was doing because they WOULD have had some kind of government contract. Not because they're evil, but because EVERYONE did.

Just a throwaway idea but crossed my mind... what if we were directly involved in the Hour of Joy. I think it's not far fetched to think that we found out about what was happening at Poppy Playtime. We worked with the prototype (who is think is elliot) in planning to destroy the facility and all involved, including ourselves as a suicide, but we chickened out. So all the toys have this weird relationship with us. We helped them get revenge but we weren't meant to die as well. So in a way we are back to "clean house" but we actually are helping tje prototype and that Poppy is the true antagonist.
True, I mean the Prototype was roaming around the whole time, so why not kill Poppy when she was still locked? Because the Prototype seems to be hunting other toys as well and as for the hour of joy, why is that Poppy is the only one who can remember what happened which means she was there, there are two possibilities, either we are helping the Prototype by eradicating other toys or we are being played by Poppy for her to live to carry out her future plans. Just by looking at the title, "Poppy Playtime", could also mean "Poppy's game".
theres a backwards audio file in the home sweet home in chapter 3, it comes from the radio and it sounds like glitched out words, but if you reverse the audio, it says this "You come in here and you kill and murder. You pillage and destroy. Your presence was demanded 10 years ago and you didn't show up. 8/8/1995. You were supposed to be here. Why weren't you here? You missed the event. You missed the meeting. You missed the party. You have no right to be here. 8/8/1995." it gives away some (in my opinion anyway) key information because it confirms that the character you play as survived the hour of joy bc they werent there, they didnt come into work that day so it tells you that they werent there, not because they didn't work there anymore, because they did, but they didn't come in that day (for a reason not yet known) and thats why they didnt die that day
It's also a old movie trope just put into video game. It's a very old idea nothing new and also lazy writing for when they dont what to do to clean story slate and force a new narrative. For example the toxic in portal was just a way to quickly end the story with no more world building needed for them to write.

1:12:37 It's probably best to mention that the reason CatNap looks so different in this chase scene is because the "red gas" is causing us (the player character) to hallucinate a waking nightmare. This is why we see him in an even MORE terrifying form, because the red gas functions just like the "fear gas" of the Batman villain, Scarecrow.
While I was re-watching some poppy playtime, chapter 1 videos, I realized Elliot Ludwig’s face is always hidden, and when I was playing poppy playtime, you can never look at the glass and see yourself in the reflection, and I started to think what if we are Elliot Ludwig? What if in the future chapters, we’re gonna look at a mirror and see we are Elliot Ludwig?

I just thought of something.. When Mommy dies, she says “He’ll make me part of him” and we see her arm/leg added to the shrine. 1006 is able to mimic voices, switching between multiple as he speaks. What if the voices are actually the experiments also communicating? Like they’re apart of him and can break though for short periods of time.
Well I don’t think so. I don’t believe mommy would have allowed it back then. I think it probably would have been like a little surprise since bonzo is so cute it would be scary but not so scary for the kids since it was supposed to be a game. I think the screaming from some of the children was probably the result of something else killing the proctors.
i don't think they'd allow that. if they used the kids for experiments and usually did the experiment whilst they were alive, why would they let bunzo eat em? (and also what the reply before me said, i don't think mommy would let that happen)

This is the first logical person trying to figure out the poppy playtime lore. Never go into a abandoned factory with missing people. And giant monster toys. If I was the player in chapter 1 and fixed the power and huggy was gone I would leave.
My nephew kept singing the “sleep well” song and it got me curious to know the background story of it all. Thanks so much for this, it was very entertaining and fun to hear and watch you show and explain it, I really want to play the game myself now even though it looks so creepy. I am definitely going to wait for your next video! I find it sad that catnap dies, as twisted as that may seem. For me anything that he did was his fault and in the end to get killed by the one person he trusted the most is so sad to see, but it’s kinda the real thing that happens in an everyday life scenario. I’ve been trying to search if the story of poppy playtime and the experiments happened in real life, so if anyone finds anything please share.
Technically you get the key from Huggy when you try to open a door by scanning the blue left hand from the GrapPack, since said hand is the only one available at the time, and the power went out and the door where you go through to restore power is locked.

🤔 Maybe Poppy isn't Ludwig's daughter at all. Why would he risk his daughter's soul on his first experiment? My interest is piqued by the Hour of Joy it's correlation to the timing of Kissy Missy being moved, almost as if the toy uprising was in response to this.

Wait. So you know how when Theo almost died, the prototype saved him? It seems like how whenever we are about to die (Between Mommy and CatNap) the prototype saves us. (Granted, it didn’t save us when Mommy died, it just grabbed her corpse) So, what if the prototype is going to do the same thing to us? It’s gonna save us until all of the toys are “dead” and then somehow merge them ALL into him.

Honestly, I don't usually watch videos like this but something about my favorite RUclipsrs playing Poppy Playtime has made me a bit obsessed with the gameplay and storyline so when your video came up with my recommended videos, I was curios. I have never seen any of your videos before but I really loved this one! The time you spent on this and the detail and organization mixed with your references and sense of humor....amazing! I think the protagonist did not show up in hour of joy is beacause i think someone warned him to not go to work bc that way he wont be killed from the toys in hour of joy then he return in 10 years later he was finding one of the employees that disappear unknowingly then poppy finally reveal it to the protagonist what happened to the employeess that went missing in hour 🤔
In the tape that talks about Jeremy and how he was going to be adopted, did they mention that they brought a child to the orphanage? Does that mean they were like, exchanging children or selling them to the company?
I think Ollie is the child that they found in Ludwig’s mansion after his death/disappearance! That’s why I think he’s the prototype! But my original theory is that Poppy herself was the Prototype, since she’s the first toy to be created with the children’s bodies. Now I’m not so sure.
56:02 i think "estate of elliot ludwig" doesn't mean he's dead. Because 1, the return statement from Playtime says elliot was not capable of such thing (meaning he's alive), and 2, i assume this precedes the event where all the monsters killed the humans in the facility where our main protag and elliot were the only survivors(although it wasn't clear to me if elliot indeed survived that event)
It does state the words "Late Elliot Ludwig", suggesting he is dead. And since Playtime Co. was founded by him in 1930 and the year is 2005 at present time. So when you take into account that realistically, Elliot was probably in his late teens or early twenties at the time of creating the toy brand at the earliest, that would put him in his early-mid 90's at the time of the main game if he was somehow alive. It is possible he isn't dead and it's a twist, the biggest theory I have seen is that Ludwig is actually 1006. But I am sure we will get the answers eventually.

I’m only confused by something, if poppy is the very first toy playtime created, and no one pretty much knew how to turn kids into toys until the arrival of Doctor Harvey and the bigger bodies iniciative started, then how did Elliot manage to give Poppy life? As far as I know poppy was the first toy to be turned into a kid, being the reason she was pretty much sold like a best friend, giving the fact that she could manage conversations, ask questions and so on. Did he do it by the “poppy gel” thing? Idk I’m just a little confused. And also, and this may sound kinda dumb, but what happened with the remaining kids at playcare?? Were they killed too??? What happened to them? How did the hour of joy wasn’t known to the public?
Honestly I theorize Ollie might be Baby Long Legs and here’s the reasons why I think this. 1.) He has the voice of a child. Let’s be honest…no actual living human would be living in that factory after all this time, especially not a child. Even if there were orphans still alive after the Hour of Joy, they would be grown by now. Those reasons can rule out Ollie being an actual living child, but rather a toy resembling a child. Now with that in mind, every experiment (besides Poppy and a few others) has had a grown up voice. (Despite the fact the majority of them were children before being tested and turned.) Poppy is a babydoll so it makes sense they gave her a voice resembling a child. Therefore it would also make sense for them to give Baby Long Legs a childlike voice as well. 2.) Ollie will be a toy we haven’t met face to face yet. Now I could end up being wrong about this as this is just a theory, but I doubt the creators of the game are going to continue adding new toys now that we’re allegedly getting closer to the end of it. I think they’ll use the toys we have been made aware of in the next chapter, but haven’t met yet. (Such as Cat-Bee, Boogie Bot, Candy Cat Daddy Long Legs, Baby Long Legs, etc.) Although Ollie very well could be any of those other toys listed I’m leaning more towards Baby Long Legs personally. 3.) Ollie seems to know where we’re at all the time. He knew where to call us at the first time, he knew we saw the shrine in the caves, he knew that CatNap was behind us and told us to run in Home Sweet Home, and he knows these things despite not having much contact with us the whole game. Sure it’s possible he’s watching us on the cameras, but I somehow doubt that for some reason. My guess? He’s been following us around and that’s why he knows what we’re witnessing. Mommy Long Legs could climb up walls and hide in the shadows as she watched us, so why not her child who’s also a spider too? 4.) The hanging toys in the game. I’m sure everyone has noticed a lot of the toys hanging by their necks and stuff throughout the game, but what are they hanging from? To me personally it looks like spider silk…now I don’t know what motive Ollie would have to be hanging toys (So this could be far fetched.) However maybe it’s a subtle way of slowly introducing Baby Long legs into the game. We know Mommy is dead so the other two potential toys that can produce spider silk (If it’s even spider silk) is Daddy and Baby, because as far as I’m aware neither one of them have been confirmed dead. Now back to why the toys are being hanged, I don’t have a strong reason as to why Ollie/Baby would hang them other than maybe to bait CatNap into taking them to the prototype instead of coming after him. (This is a weak theory but gotta start from somewhere lol) 5.) He specifically asks us: “No ouchies or *lost body parts?*” After we leave the School. The only experiment to of lost a body part that we’ve seen is Mommy, so having lost his mom from that way, it could make sense why he’s oddly worried about that. 6.) There’s a cardboard cutout of Baby Long Legs with no voice button. I find it odd how literally every cardboard cut out we’ve seen has a button to press with voice dialogue…except for Baby Long Legs. Even Daddy Long Legs has a voice dialogue despite it being static. So why don’t the creators want us to hear what his voice sounds like? Maybe because we’d recognize it? That’s all the reasons I have so far! Again this is just a theory, and there are other theories that also make sense. Such as him being the Prototype, Boogie Bot, or a factory security system. And although I agree with those theories as well, I’m leaning more towards this one. I truly think Ollie will be a toy we’re aware about but have not been introduced to yet. And this theory can work whether he ends up being a good toy or bad toy. If he’s good, then he truly wants us to take down the Prototype because that’s who has his dead mom and the rest of his dead friends. If he’s bad, he has the motive to trick us and betray us as we’re part of the reason some of the toys are dead and got taken.

I don’t think project playtime took place after the hour of joy because that event would have gone all over the news and people would most likely not go in the factory. Even if it didn’t I’m sure the some of the resources extraction specialists (ones who survived) would have told everyone(unless people didn’t believe them and thought they were crazy).

the fact that one of the nightmare scenes after catnap took our gas mask in the counselors office takes place in the school suggests this. poppy even asks "do you know who we once were?" with the POV from one of the student's desks. I think we must have been an orphan many years ago that began working at the factory, rising up in the rankings to eventually become a higher-up employee.
It’s not that crazy of a theory. Considering a lot of the time children who are part of programs, or people who are part of programs, will end up working for that program when they are better off. It’s some thing that happens a lot in the real world. For instance I’m a recovering addict, and I was a part of a childhood /young adult homeless program from 18-25. A few of the people who I used to live with at the building, ended up working for the program. I also worked for them too while I was still living there. As well as I know a few people who work at shelters that they used to stay at. So it’s some thing that happens a lot in the real world, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they took inspiration from that.

Catnap is definitely my favourite enemy/character so far! I feel like there's so much more to his story and so much more layers to his character that we haven't seen yet.
Also, I think that the game is alluding to us that our protag wasn't just some random innocent employee that escaped the hour of joy by sheer luck, I fell like it's hinting that the protag was once a scientist working on the bigger body initiative but then fled once they realized what they were doing was wrong. And maybe that's how they got away from the hour of joy.
Because I believe it’s Rich who has had a tape in every chapter so far, as a disgruntled employee, I wonder if we are him.
Every character mentions how they remember us: rich has worked in every location of the facility that we’ve seen so far, and as of chapter 3 was then promoted to a scientist position.
Considering rich genuinely cared about the kids, but got wrapped up in experiments would be a good reason for him to feel guilt, knowing the ins and the outs of the facility, and extensively spied on by the company.
Idk it just seems like they’re hinting that rich is important.

But regardless of who it is, I do wonder if the protagonist ever got involved in experiments, because from poppy showing the tape, we know he wasn't at happy hour, nor knew it would happen, and the hallucination mentioning "may you find horrors beyond your comprehension" implies to me that he didn't even know about the experiments. Bc if he did, wouldn't those horrors be fully expected, and if he participated in it, wouldn't he very much be able to understand at least part of them? Showing up to a letter about his missing colleagues too... Anyone involved in the experiments would know the creatures were intelligent and able to kill. He couldn't have come actually expecting to find his coworkers, or at least not be fully clueless as to what may have happened to them (and it seems he really was given what poppy says when giving the tape). The characters remember him, but address him as if he knows practically nothing about that side of the factory for the most part imo, especially on that part. Also he was willing to leave the factory almost as soon as he was presented with an option to, even if he did hang around longer than most, and freed poppy even though other toys had already attempted to kill him. Which shows he was dedicated to setting things right, but not ready to deal with the creatures? Like I feel someone that was aware of them and was willing to kill in self defense (which protag clearly is) wouldn't have shown up empty handed. I'm not asking for a gun, but I feel he would've brought something. Basically I feel a lot of stuff points to portage being regretful but having never been fully aware of what was happening. Poppy saying "they did nothing wrong" when defending the protagonist too. Someone that partook in experiments couldn't have their hands fully clean. And ofc the protagonist doesn't, at least if we're to believe that the guilt he experiences in the dream is fully warranted. I want to be clear that the dream sequence does imply to me that protag was directly involved in the killing children process more than it implies he wasn't (that radio audio was very specific, and ofc even if involved in experiments that doesn't mean he could be prepared for how much worse everything is now, "horrors beyond your comprehension" could be that). But the rest of the stuff leaves me conflicted as to whether he really knew about/partook in/supported the experiments. Im probably just reading too much into it, but it did plant doubt in me, and left me wondering if he feels guilt because he supported all of it by just working there and ignoring sketchy shit, rather than because he went as far as knowingly hurting the kids. I’m loving the “Ollie is the prototype” theory. It makes some sense: the prototype wants all the toys to “merge” into him or whatever as to what mommy long legs referred to. Both mommy long legs and cat nap were immediately taken by the prototype when they were killed. Meaning the prototype is watching and is always there. Ollie helped us kill cat nap, and no one has ever seen him. Remember the prototype has the ability to change voices and we’ve only ever heard Ollie. I think that the plan is for us to kill all the others, then the prototype will finally be completed and will kill us.

I just find it ironic that he was electrocuted as a human boy which the prototype was there and saved him. But unfortunately turn him inadvertently into Catnap. Then when we fight him as Catnap we electrocuted him to defeat him and once again put him into the situation of close to death again, and there is the prototype again only this time instead of helping him like he did when he was a child the prototype kills Catnap this time. In speculation this could mean that the prototype was accepting his fate or figured that Catnap would be a crutch since he might have to save him again from the same situation.
Damn he did go out the same way, I didn't even think of that... Catnap worshiped Prototype and since Prototype merges with other toys, maybe Catnap wanted that?
Someone in jacksepticeye's playthrough offered the possibility that Catnap was offering himself to the Prototype. I rewatched it 'cause I was curious and Catnap poses like he did at the shrine so it makes me wonder if it wasn't an offering rather than a plea for help also.
@@apollochodev2886I think it was an offering. He wasn’t going to be much of a help especially considering his gas wasn’t working and I find it unlikely it could have been fixed by any of the toys. So instead of being a “burden” to the prototypes plan, he would rather go on and be one with him like the other toys.

After all, the prototype didn't really have to save catnap from anything when we electrocuted him... like he showed up but he didn't do anything, catnap seemed to recover from being electrocuted on his own. So the prototype faking a helping hand and then killing him felt very weird/out of nowhere and dumb to me. Cause even if he doesn't care, he could still use catnap to work for him. Also catnap didn't hold the hand that was held out to him, he just went into a worshipping position, which would be a strange reaction, if he were thinking the prototype was offering help. Interpreting the scene as him self sacrificing makes way more sense. Also completes the story in a fucked up poetic way (Theo got electrocuted, the prototype "sacrificed" something of his to save Theo, Theo gets electrocuted again, and self sacrifices to help the prototype)
@@apollochodev2886 He absolutely was. I just finished watching Jacksepticeye's video (which is how I ended up here) and Catnap is 100% offering himself. The way he keeps his gaze on The Prototypes hand while getting to his knees and reaching out with both hands open, instead of getting up and reaching for the hand for help would be so hard to argue that he was doing anything BUT offering himself. He did what he needed to do, and he knew it was his time, he knew it was all coming to a close.
The Hour of Joy is easily one of the most fucked up things I’ve ever seen. Indiscriminate brutal killing of everyone in the building out of nowhere, each one probably experiencing insane fear and panic seeing their friends being killed for no apparent reason. THEN the bodies where consumed over a decade…

It reminds me sort of 'the happiest day ever' from fnaf, although it's different in many ways to 'the hour of joy'. 'Happiest day' as we know is when the MC (missing children) chased William Afton (their murderer) to the storage room, where he willingly puts on the suit he killed the MC, and gets spring locked by the suit, and 30 years later is said suit. As to where 'hour of joy' is when all the bigger bodies of playtime co kill everyone, innocent or guilty, and then bring them to the lower parts of playtime. They eat of the corpse for possibly a decade until we (the player) come to the factory in 2005 because of a note someone sent us.
I agree it's messed up but actual human history has stories that take the cake.

The way this game has evolved is incredible. An indie game with such big lore is insane to me. So many possible theories. I can't wait for the next chapter.

The lore according to me is beautiful and there are several games and books, official songs and even a recent movie tho it was a bit bland it helped tie up some of the lore too and was still nice.

The theory about the cardboard cutouts is interesting. Dog Day does mention himself being the last Smiling Critter, but whether that meant last one alive or last one not brought under Catnap's control I don't think was specified. I just assumed he meant the others all died, but if they didn't and became followers of the Prototype instead that would be fascinating.

They said that all the critters were dead except Carnap no one knew dogday was alive. And was he really alive? He was a sacrifice for the smaller toys to eat and eventually merge under.
I fully expect Ollie to be a Catbee toy. His voice sounds like what I'd imagine Catbee to sound like if it could talk.
If Ollie ends up beings one of the other toys we've already seen so far, I'm betting on him being a BoogieBot since Ollie is able to send us batteries and keys. How would he get that stuff if he didn't probably hack into a network to send them to us? And BoogieBot *is* a robot, so makes sense how he'd have access to those types of things. And Ollie seems to know a lot about the machines in Playtime Co. so I think he's possibly a mortified version of BoogieBot.
What if Ollie is the Catbee toy we made at the start of the game?

I honestly think the protagonist is either Rich or Stella. I would prefer if it was Stella though. Especially after her tape in chapter 3. It sounds as if she honestly was surprised that one of the orphans wouldn't be available to be adopted and that she's confused by the "testing" status. She's portrayed as so wide-eyed and up-beat, that I wouldn't be shocked if she somehow blinded herself to what was going on or didn't realize it at all. Which would make sense that when/if she found out, she'd be haunted by guilt for having played such a major part in it.

I realize that there's no information on this, but what was Playtime producing between the years of 1930 and 1950?
1930 is a weird time to start a luxury business (and toys are a luxury item) since it's during the Great Depression in the US, so there wouldn't have been that many people to buy products even if they thought they were cool. Since I have no doubts that you've done your research and the date is correct, this makes me wonder if they weren't making toys originally. We haven't seen any posters of toys that pre-date Poppy.
The other thing that I'm interested in during the 1930 to 1950 timeframe is WWII. It makes sense to me that whether or not Playtime was making toys, they would have stopped and rerouted production during the war years. This may be why they had so many gas masks to hand. Perhaps that was their contribution to the war effort, and so later, when the whole poppy gas thing happened they had a ton of masks laying around for research purposes.
But it also makes me wonder what else they were working on for the war effort considering how they developed other projects as a company. What is down in the depths of Playtime's history.
Also, if the Swapimals had some limited success, then then should be more of them. Perhaps we'll get a Swapimals chapter?
Also worth wondering what it means that the protagonist was paired with CatBee during the "make a friend" segment, and then we learn how people were paired with toys later on. Will the protagonist have other connections to CatBee going forward? Does it say something about our personality?
Anyway, good job on the history. I totally missed that the company was founded so early and thought it was founded in the '50s.
I love this because i thought it was strange they mentioned specializing in making toys and surveillance. There is believed to be cameras in the toys. That w the gas masks, the red gas, I think they definitely worked for the government or for the war effort in some weird way first, and eventually disguised themselves in an innocent industry that also drives decent profits.

During WWII, the thing the US did for the allies was turn into a major manufacturing hub. We weren't being bombed, so we made stuff here and shipped it over there. It didn't matter what your company USED to do. We were suddenly no longer doing that and you were going to make things for the war because the government said so.
The gas masks are particularly notable. Look up images of the Mickey Mouse gas mask that was intended to be more inviting and less scary for children. But this applied a lot of places. You make clothes? Not any more. you're making Uniforms for the troops and parachutes. A lot of companies switched gears to make different products.
It's one of the things people were mad at Trump for during the pandemic. He could have done what was done during the war years and forced companies to make needed medical supplies instead of what they normally make. (Special beds were a particular sticking point that he instead created a situation where states were bidding against each other and driving prices up, which is bad for the taxpayers.)
Anyway. Hadn't intended on getting political, it was just an obvious compare and contrast because it's the only other time I know of when we considered just mandating what companies make because we were in desperate need. The 1940s would be a particularly interesting time to know what Playtime was doing because they WOULD have had some kind of government contract. Not because they're evil, but because EVERYONE did.

Just a throwaway idea but crossed my mind... what if we were directly involved in the Hour of Joy. I think it's not far fetched to think that we found out about what was happening at Poppy Playtime. We worked with the prototype (who is think is elliot) in planning to destroy the facility and all involved, including ourselves as a suicide, but we chickened out. So all the toys have this weird relationship with us. We helped them get revenge but we weren't meant to die as well. So in a way we are back to "clean house" but we actually are helping tje prototype and that Poppy is the true antagonist.
True, I mean the Prototype was roaming around the whole time, so why not kill Poppy when she was still locked? Because the Prototype seems to be hunting other toys as well and as for the hour of joy, why is that Poppy is the only one who can remember what happened which means she was there, there are two possibilities, either we are helping the Prototype by eradicating other toys or we are being played by Poppy for her to live to carry out her future plans. Just by looking at the title, "Poppy Playtime", could also mean "Poppy's game".

theres a backwards audio file in the home sweet home in chapter 3, it comes from the radio and it sounds like glitched out words, but if you reverse the audio, it says this

it gives away some (in my opinion anyway) key information
because it confirms that the character you play as survived the hour of joy bc they werent there, they didnt come into work that day
so it tells you that they werent there, not because they didn't work there anymore, because they did, but they didn't come in that day (for a reason not yet known) and thats why they didnt die that day
I’ve just noticed, many medias have a similar event: Portal has the neurotoxin flood, Star Wars has Order 66 and Poppy Playtime has The Hour Of Joy.
It's also a old movie trope just put into video game. It's a very old idea nothing new and also lazy writing for when they dont what to do to clean story slate and force a new narrative. For example the toxic in portal was just a way to quickly end the story with no more world building needed for them to write.

1:12:37 It's probably best to mention that the reason CatNap looks so different in this chase scene is because the "red gas" is causing us (the player character) to hallucinate a waking nightmare. This is why we see him in an even MORE terrifying form, because the red gas functions just like the "fear gas" of the Batman villain, Scarecrow.
While I was re-watching some poppy playtime, chapter 1 videos, I realized Elliot Ludwig’s face is always hidden, and when I was playing poppy playtime, you can never look at the glass and see yourself in the reflection, and I started to think what if we are Elliot Ludwig? What if in the future chapters, we’re gonna look at a mirror and see we are Elliot Ludwig?

Well I don’t think so. I don’t believe mommy would have allowed it back then. I think it probably would have been like a little surprise since bonzo is so cute it would be scary but not so scary for the kids since it was supposed to be a game. I think the screaming from some of the children was probably the result of something else killing the proctors.

My nephew kept singing the “sleep well” song and it got me curious to know the background story of it all. Thanks so much for this, it was very entertaining and fun to hear and watch you show and explain it, I really want to play the game myself now even though it looks so creepy. I am definitely going to wait for your next video! I find it sad that catnap dies, as twisted as that may seem. For me anything that he did was his fault and in the end to get killed by the one person he trusted the most is so sad to see, but it’s kinda the real thing that happens in an everyday life scenario. Technically you get the key from Huggy when you try to open a door by scanning the blue left hand from the GrapPack, since said hand is the only one available at the time, and the power went out and the door where you go through to restore power is locked.

I think Ollie is the child that they found in Ludwig’s mansion after his death/disappearance! That’s why I think he’s the prototype! But my original theory is that Poppy herself was the Prototype, since she’s the first toy to be created with the children’s bodies. Now I’m not so sure.
I think the prototype might be Ludwig! Ollie could be the kid they found, and many speculate that poppy is Ludwig’s daughter that died.
56:02 i think "estate of elliot ludwig" doesn't mean he's dead. Because 1, the return statement from Playtime says elliot was not capable of such thing (meaning he's alive), and 2, i assume this precedes the event where all the monsters killed the humans in the facility where our main protag and elliot were the only survivors(although it wasn't clear to me if elliot indeed survived that event)

It does state the words "Late Elliot Ludwig", suggesting he is dead. And since Playtime Co. was founded by him in 1930 and the year is 2005 at present time. So when you take into account that realistically, Elliot was probably in his late teens or early twenties at the time of creating the toy brand at the earliest, that would put him in his early-mid 90's at the time of the main game if he was somehow alive.
It is possible he isn't dead and it's a twist, the biggest theory I have seen is that Ludwig is actually 1006. But I am sure we will get the answers eventually.

I’m only confused by something, if poppy is the very first toy playtime created, and no one pretty much knew how to turn kids into toys until the arrival of Doctor Harvey and the bigger bodies iniciative started, then how did Elliot manage to give Poppy life? As far as I know poppy was the first toy to be turned into a kid, being the reason she was pretty much sold like a best friend, giving the fact that she could manage conversations, ask questions and so on. Did he do it by the “poppy gel” thing? Idk I’m just a little confused. And also, and this may sound kinda dumb, but what happened with the remaining kids at playcare?? Were they killed too??? What happened to them? How did the hour of joy wasn’t known to the public?
Honestly I theorize Ollie might be Baby Long Legs and here’s the reasons why I think this.
1.) He has the voice of a child.
Let’s be honest…no actual living human would be living in that factory after all this time, especially not a child. Even if there were orphans still alive after the Hour of Joy, they would be grown by now. Those reasons can rule out Ollie being an actual living child, but rather a toy resembling a child. Now with that in mind, every experiment (besides Poppy and a few others) has had a grown up voice. (Despite the fact the majority of them were children before being tested and turned.) Poppy is a babydoll so it makes sense they gave her a voice resembling a child. Therefore it would also make sense for them to give Baby Long Legs a childlike voice as well.
2.) Ollie will be a toy we haven’t met face to face yet.
Now I could end up being wrong about this as this is just a theory, but I doubt the creators of the game are going to continue adding new toys now that we’re allegedly getting closer to the end of it. I think they’ll use the toys we have been made aware of in the next chapter, but haven’t met yet. (Such as Cat-Bee, Boogie Bot, Candy Cat Daddy Long Legs, Baby Long Legs, etc.) Although Ollie very well could be any of those other toys listed I’m leaning more towards Baby Long Legs personally.
3.) Ollie seems to know where we’re at all the time.
He knew where to call us at the first time, he knew we saw the shrine in the caves, he knew that CatNap was behind us and told us to run in Home Sweet Home, and he knows these things despite not having much contact with us the whole game. Sure it’s possible he’s watching us on the cameras, but I somehow doubt that for some reason. My guess? He’s been following us around and that’s why he knows what we’re witnessing. Mommy Long Legs could climb up walls and hide in the shadows as she watched us, so why not her child who’s also a spider too?
4.) The hanging toys in the game.
I’m sure everyone has noticed a lot of the toys hanging by their necks and stuff throughout the game, but what are they hanging from? To me personally it looks like spider silk…now I don’t know what motive Ollie would have to be hanging toys (So this could be far fetched.) However maybe it’s a subtle way of slowly introducing Baby Long legs into the game. We know Mommy is dead so the other two potential toys that can produce spider silk (If it’s even spider silk) is Daddy and Baby, because as far as I’m aware neither one of them have been confirmed dead. Now back to why the toys are being hanged, I don’t have a strong reason as to why Ollie/Baby would hang them other than maybe to bait CatNap into taking them to the prototype instead of coming after him. (This is a weak theory but gotta start from somewhere lol)
5.) He specifically asks us: “No ouchies or *lost body parts?*” After we leave the School. The only experiment to of lost a body part that we’ve seen is Mommy, so having lost his mom from that way, it could make sense why he’s oddly worried about that.
6.) There’s a cardboard cutout of Baby Long Legs with no voice button.
I find it odd how literally every cardboard cut out we’ve seen has a button to press with voice dialogue…except for Baby Long Legs. Even Daddy Long Legs has a voice dialogue despite it being static. So why don’t the creators want us to hear what his voice sounds like? Maybe because we’d recognize it?
That’s all the reasons I have so far! Again this is just a theory, and there are other theories that also make sense. Such as him being the Prototype, Boogie Bot, or a factory security system. And although I agree with those theories as well, I’m leaning more towards this one. I truly think Ollie will be a toy we’re aware about but have not been introduced to yet. And this theory can work whether he ends up being a good toy or bad toy.
If he’s good, then he truly wants us to take down the Prototype because that’s who has his dead mom and the rest of his dead friends.
If he’s bad, he has the motive to trick us and betray us as we’re part of the reason some of the toys are dead and got taken.
