PSA 9s are my favourite to collect. I think they offer really great condition for a fraction of the price of a 10. I have a few rare cards in an 8 that I do enjoy but often wish I'd just paid more for the 9 :P
I tend to collect 9's as 10's are ridiculous in price in comparison and isn't worth the extra money for quite often no difference in condition; I also have some 8's in my collection which also could possibly regrade as 9's and even 10's in some cases I'd say!
I have only a few PSA 10s the rest are 9s I've found that the 9s I have bought are a little more expensive than the raw card most of time 5-10 bucks and considering grading fees it just seems a better option.
PSA 10s are the best, but most of my collection are 9s. At the end of the day I want to grow my PC, and I can't justify the price difference for myself- although if you have the money why not! Currently after a Pikachu Luigi PSA 9, PSA 10 is more than double the price 😮
Thanks for the vid. I have a decent PSA 10 collection of Vintage era pokemon. Japanese, all PSA 10 Gym Heroes and Gym Challenge holos. I also have a complete PSA 9 set. I set out to complete a PSA 10 collection of all Gen 1 and Gen 2 holos (Japanese) but consistently feel hesitant, as the same could be done with PSA 9 for 1/3 the price. And PSA 9 cards, usually, look the exact same as a PSA 10 card to all eyes but the professional grader perhaps. I think I'm in the same boat as you - it's much more fun to have an awesome collection of cards rather than a smaller collection of super high value ones. One of the fears holding me back though is FOMO - what if a PSA 10 collection sky rockets in value? I doubt that would happen, though. It's individual cards that go up in value, 1 by 1. It's a goofy fear, I think. THIS ASIDE - I have a complete Gen 1/Gen 2 Japanese collection, ungraded, mint condition. And it's my favorite piece. Much more enjoyable to look at and shuffle through. The one thing I don't like about the grading card system is that half the time I feel like I'm buying a number, not a card (PSA 10 vs. 9).
Definitely agree with the buy cards you like over sets. Overall it won't matter what you do, because the outcomes with the cards will always be the same. Can't control the uncontrollable :)
I think affordability plays a huge factor, I'm working to build up enough available cash to buy a gold star Rayquaza, I probably won't even be able to realistically look at anything above an 8
Great video. Im just looking into buying my first psa graded card. Im going for a 9 of a newer card as it’s similar to the ungraded price and I’ll know the card is quality and protected.
I’m just getting into collecting graded cards and I see so many inconsistencies with PSA (let alone them damaging cards even)! I feel like 8/9s is what you should buy to get a card you know is ballpark mint and clean. And if there is something you really, really want perfect, try to find a BGS 9.5. At least those tend to be actually flawless.
if i send in cards that are kinda bend (when cards are expose to cold environment and its holo) they look like a bridge lol.. it will affect the grade?
Super helpful video! I have a Wailord ex from sandstorm that I bought in a PSA 5 and cracked cause it looked super clean just with a dent on the back and this video convinced me that I should resub it.

Totally agree

Totally agree on psa 9s and 8s. Prefer 9s but don’t mine 8s for higher values cards. Hard for me to spend more than $250 for a single card
It’s much more affordable below a 10. It really depends on how bad I want the card… If it’s outta reach, I’ll shoot for a 9 or 8 😃

great idea. PSA 9 modern cards are incredible value
tbh it might be worth it to crack that 6 shining charizard to send it to cgc, ive had dented cards get 8s with them
purchased a grade D players mew 7000pt promo and it got a 9, honestly hard to trust PSA, just prefer buying myself and grading

ya i agree, 8 and 9 are great value purchases

I think it doesn't, you can get 9s, but maybe a 10 might be out of the question.. but its completely normal for cardboard to warp with humidity.
CGC 8.5's are my favorite to collect with older cards. The same condition as PSA 9's for 1/3 the price most of the time. amazing deal
Totally agree
10s or bust for me, i use sgc but still

A dent would usually limit a card from getting anything higher than a 6. I usually avoid anything less than a 7 for that reason.
I hope you can upgrade it, but maybe leave it raw I think!
8s are the best value imo
Great video mate 🤠
great video Steven
