    Yeah, when I heard George was working on Elden Ring, I was a little bummed too. Come on man just finish the books. Let’s let Neil Gaiman finish! Lol proper wine for proper heroes 🍷 great impression. The hound quote had me in stitches lol

    Your Game of Thrones impressions are spot on! Love them.I agree… George wants to move on to other things and can’t… Neil Gaiman can finish the books… problem solved

    I think it is a really solid idea to have Neil Gaiman finish the books. He is legendary and I feel he would do a great job! That Lord Walder impression is spot on!!
    Quotes
    Tyrion- my brother has a sword
    King Robert- lancel Lannister what a stupid name
    The hound- every chicken 🍗 🐔 lmao
    Lord Walder- finest arbor gold

    By the third book, I was afraid the piling on of characters and plotlines threatened to make the whole narrative collapse of its own weight.

      Yup!! That third book definitely was a turning point. Great book, but he set up way too much. And set up even more in the fourth… heck even in the 5th. Wrapping up will be a nightmare for anyone

    The combination of selling an unfinished product to HBO, pressure from fans, distractions with other projects and the amount of story he has to wrap up makes me think he doesn’t want to bother.
    I think the poor reception to the ending of the TV series is actually a motivator, so it may be a blessing in the end that D&D didn’t know how to finish the story

    Love this idea. Also Great voices you nailed them. Never thought about him getting help from Neil but awesome idea. Throw in the people who helped him before ellio and Lyndia I think are there names. I just want this story to have a conclusion. I starting reading ASOAF at 17 I'm now 28. My mother who made us read them had been reading it since the 90's. Shes sadly passed in 2012. We deserve an ending that's not G.O.T. Great video thanks!

    Terrific video. I’d argue that Joe Abercrombie would be the ideal candidate to finish the story. If you have not read his First Law Trilogy, I highly urge you to read it. It’s up there for me with A Song of Ice and Fire in terms character development.

    He got a huge pay day from HBO and since they finished his story for him he simply does not care. He's finding distractions as an excuse. He should give his novels to Quentin Tarantino. Right up his alley.

      @Dante19883  3 года назад +1

    Won't happen, ghost writer i mean, he's too proud, and mind you, not for a lack of reason.
    To give someone else free reign on his main piece of work, in which he has already invested a large portion of his life? Put yourself in his shoes for a minute, he's the guy who added an extra R to his author name, (He adopted the name Richard during his confirmation at 13, and later chose to add it to his author name, despite not being used during his earlier works.), just to echo Tolkien, arguably one of the, if not the, greatest fantasy author, and the father of the modern fantasy genre. He doesn't want to finish the books if he doesn't do it himself, because that would undermine the image that he has pushed of him being the spearhead for the next generation of modern fantasy authors, just as Tolkien was for his.
    He would never live that down inside his own head, regardless of people being potentially happy if he used a ghostwriter, because his legacy would not purely become the legacy of a man who "finished" the vastest fantasy epoch of recent times, but instead become the legacy of a man who set himself up to deliver 7 books from his own hand and ink, but that couldn't finish the race by himself.

  • @Tijjain
    @Tijjain 2 года назад +1

    I just want to say that I think your assessment on George being too busy is true. However, when it comes to Elden Ring, Martin said in a interview that his portion of the work is already done and has been for a while. That was last or two years ago so this particular project isn't a worry. But of course given the timeline, it still interfered with TWoW.

  • @theflyingninja1

    Great impressions, Dante! And I think you may be very close to the reason Mr. Martin has not finished his epic. I don't like the idea of anyone else finishing his work, because that detracts from the authenticity of the work (at least for me), but that may very well be the only way it actually gets finished. I'm probably in the minority here, but I'd prefer that Martin finishes it himself, or not at all.

    • @Dante19883
      @Dante19883  3 года назад

      For sure! I would rather he finish it as well. George writes so beautifully. He balances the line between commercial fiction and literary fiction so well. No one else can write like him. At the same time, if it comes to the point where George is not longer able to finish for some reason, I would rather any ending than no ending at all. Glad you enjoyed the impressions 😀

    • @lisacarter6096
      @lisacarter6096 2 года назад

      I want him to write a perfect book in his own time. Rushing through because of obligation destroys the story. He has other series that has fans. He can't do them all at the same time. J K Rolling did the same thing. She threatened to kill Harry Potter off if fans didn't leave her alone about the last book. Everybody needs to just forget about it and be surprised when it comes out. He should actually write both and send them out together. You know the book will be read in a day or two and the fans will start harassing him again for the last book.

  • @mitchbeenhakker7922

    He did write all the material for elden ring in 2015 already. He just created the basis and the devs build upon it. Does prove your point about love and motivation. He was able to create that entire world in a year, while we wait 10 years for one book 🙃

    If you really want it to be finished have him go to Alan Moore. He already retired comic book writing. He also has a multi book fantasy deal so there you go. As great as Neil Gaiman is I'd love him to finish Miracleman first for Marvel. Get George to convince him.

    • @Dante19883
      @Dante19883  3 года назад +2

      Actually, I would love to see what Alan Moore would do with the franchise. He is as cutthroat as George. I feel like Alan Moore is picky with what he works on… he seems to toss aside anything trendy lol yes I would like Neil to finish miracle man too!

    George seems to be dipping his hands into other projects but has offset GOT to a ' someday.' Whenever that 'Someday ' comes, it'll reward those faithful readers...so long as its not rushed. For me its as frustrating as waiting for Berserk to be off Hiatus back when Kentaro Miura was with us.

      @@Dante19883 that's my whole thing with the Books aswell, I love them and I can't wait to see what he has got in store for us, but we have to wait. That's why I'm voting with my wallet and not supporting anything none book related from him. Because I think if he sees that we dont support the other stuff he will put more of his time into finishing this book. Heck at this pace I'm lucky if I get to heat the end of that story when I'm 55 or something and I'm only 31 now 😅 Good day and Greetings from Denmark 🙏

    I have no faith in WoW being good, even if it's published. Books 4 and 5 took a spectacular drop in quality. Martin is probably tired of the story, has to fight his way through a tangle of unnecessary characters and irrelevant subplots and is possibly writing without any enthusiasm or passion. Naturally, after so many years, he wants to do other things. So, WoW, if published, will be a poor book. ADoS may be finished by someone else, if ever.

    • @Dante19883
      @Dante19883  3 года назад

      I couldn’t agree more about the drop in quality.. this easily could have been wrapped up in 5 books. It’s going to be like pulling teeth to get an ending out of him

      I agree with you on books 4 and 5 when I read them first time i thought like that only but after reread they are soo good , some people have problems with a feast for crows bcoz waiting five years and not getting to see their favorite characters and also it came after a storm of swords which is one hell of a roller coaster and a dance with dragons is not progressed well but books 4 and 5 focused so much on characters than plot or anything , but the interesting thing here is the people who are getting into a song of ice and fire after 2011 are almost liking books 4 and 5 .
