    Ok, so, I've been reading through the comments, and I am surprised and disappointed with all the haters. 1st, her nails are REAL ( except for that broken one) . Applying a gel or acrylic overlay is just that , an OVERLAY ! THIS IS LIKE PUTTING WAX ON YOUR CAR TO PROTECT IT FROM THE ELEMENTS. 2nd if you don't have anything nice to say , then don't say anything at all. Shame on you , just shame. If you don't like what you see, then just go to another channel. 3rd, I have been doing my own nails for 28 years. I am not a licensed nail tech and I never plan to be however, I appreciate the details she has in all her videos and it helps me to make sure I am getting it right. Bonus, she has a quirky sense of humor and I find her voice soothing. So to sum it up, her nails are real , it's just luke putting a thick layer of clear polish that won't peal or chip. Haters be gone .💞

    Thanks so much for this very detailed video. I have stopped going to the salon for about 3-4 years because the last time I went and had acrylic nails done, when I soaked them off, my natural nails had deep ridges in them from where the acrylic started (and eventually grew out). Since then, I've been doing my own nails, starting with acrylics, gel polishes, polygel and soon, dip powders. I always try to watch licensed professionals on RUclips to learn more about technique and how to use the products well, since I will only be doing my own nails. I love your videos and will continue to watch them :D

    A gel layer over the natural nail looks much better. Certain nail channels feature polish and designs over the natural nail and they don't look nearly as refined or perfected. The nature of the nail itself doesn't allow for perfection unless something is placed on top to even the surface.

    • @toxigenic
      @toxigenic 8 лет назад +12

      Nobody likes to hear this, but try to clean up your diet. Are you eating fruits and veggies every single day? Taking a multivitamin with minerals? And it may take months before you notice the benefits as the nail needs to grow all the way out. Nail oil will help as it will allow the nail to bend more before it snaps, making it less likely to break. Good luck!

    The salons I've called and asked about the gel nails apparently think I'm talking about gel polish. What is the proper terminology I should use when inquiring about the gel nails like yours?

    • @NatashaLeeDivine
      @NatashaLeeDivine  8 лет назад +42

      +Tammy the proper terminology is a "soak off enhancement gel". Any salon that refers to a gel polish as a gel strengthener or a soak off gel is one to avoid. They clearly don't have the training and skills to differentiate so I personally would avoid them xxx

    I am blessed with strong natural nails and since I started using a glass file and the simply pure cuticle oil my nails are peeling a lot less. I was thinking of using a foundation gel for added strength since I work retail and it's tough on my nails. My only worry is if the gel damages natural nails? I'm not a nail tech and would have to use something like the Gelish foundation. What are your thoughts on how gel effects the natural nail? Thanks and I love all your Vlogs and tutorials.

    • @NatashaLeeDivine
      @NatashaLeeDivine  8 лет назад +4

      +Sarah C hi Sarah, most professional nail products are designed to be gentle on the natural nails, it's improper application and removal that causes damage. I love this gel though because it performs like a hard gel but soaks off xxx

    I've found that CND Brisa Lite soak off gels are fantastic for adding strength to natural nails so they can be grown long. They have a smoothing gel which is awesome over natural nails, but unfortunately they discontinued the sculpting gel, so i bought about 20 pots of it before it was totally sold out lol ;D Otherwise IBD soak off sculpting gel is a great system to sculpt out longer extensions, and when used in a thin layer is excellent for adding strength. If a person has brittle/thin nails, getting a thin layer of gel applied is the perfect way of protecting and therefore growing out the natural nails

It took me to discover this gel that gave me the nails that I'd always dreamed of! I don't get anything from promoting it, I buy it normally online like any other professional. Have you ever dealt with onycholysis? If so, what did you do to prevent the nail from lifting further and to keep fungal infections away?

    I like my bliss kiss cuticle oil, but when I stopped using it it was like my skin was going through withdrawals. The cuticles got extra dry and crusty, it was gross. That was just one week. They never did that before so I figured that was the culprit.

    do you have any tips on how to dissolve nail glue? I usually just soak it off like gel but I'm not sure what the correct method is.

      Use alcohol, you know nail remover? If your using gel, soak it off with nail remover (With alcohol) use nail remover, put it in a Ziploc bag, and I suggest waiting 5-15 minutes (put your hands in the Ziploc bag) >Then

      Bellacorra1 Alcohol won't remove acrylic or soak off gel, you must use acetone.

    My nails always tear at the very corner of the free edge. I already use cuticle oil daily and moisturize if my hands get under water, but my nails inevitably peel and break off. Any advice?

    Wait...so its not acrylics? Its gel?? Im confused i really want to have longer nails without acrylics because its damaging for my nail and it makes it soft and really short. I really enjoy you're wonderful nail videos.

      Tabitha Caspar get a nail regimen. take nail and hair supplements. Use a nail strengthener and put on a coat every day. after 3 coats, take it off and start again. Also use cuticle oil or just any oil and rub it in where the skin and nail meets

      Acrylic and gel nails are both nail extensions that work very similarly. It's just the process of putting them on that is different. The only reason you have damaged nails after acrylic or gel extension removal is because your nail tech is not taking them off well. For example being too rough with their electronic file if they use one. Also a lot of times nail techs that are removing the extension completely file the product down right to the natural nail- leaving it damaged and taking layers off of your actual nails. What I'm getting at here is try to find a good nail tech that will treat your nails good. And just one other thing I'm not a pro or a nail tech I just watch too many suzie of nail career education's videos, lol

      My Life as Maddie Well, I am not her though my nails do get as long as hers in this video without me doing anything at all. A lot of it is genetics and how your nails naturally are (mine are super thick naturally).
      However one thing I do is massage coconut oil into my cuticles. Just don't do it right before polish because it will make your polish not last very long.
      Of course that is just my cheap au natural way of doing my nails.

    Natasha (or other qualified commenters), I have always wiped my nails down with an alcohol prep swab before painting but I often get distracted or called off to do something else between coats and I've always wondered this: is it a good idea to wipe down the surface of your color coat to remove oils that may have been picked up in the interim before doing the next coat or is it a bad idea to use alcohol between coats?

    this is a great video and your nails are beautiful. I have been trying to grow my nails for this past year, it is challenging. I use to bite my nails and have stopped biting, however now the problem is every now and then, one nails ends up chipping or cracking and then I have to start all over again, I am very tempted to look into the skyscraper gel idea. My question is can you still use regular nail polish to paint you nails with this gel nails. I like to change my nail polish every two or 3 days.

    When your nail brakes, just cut it off and let it grow naturally, dont try to keep gluing it over and ovee again because if you notice it keeps breaking at the same spot, it might be time to just suck it up and cut your nails.
