Paint your dominant hand first, start with the pinky and work to the thumb. And cleanup brushes are your friend! (I keep a toothpick or fine dotting tool out and clean out the cuticle line as I go, it's easier to clean up the polish while it is still wet.)
I have one more for you! If you see an image or words in a magazine that you want to put on your nail just paint over it with clear/top coat. Once it dries, cut it out and put it in a cup of water, after 15 or so minutes the paper backing will peel off and you'll be left with a decal. Viola!
If you're using lemon juice in the hand scrub hack, you'll want to put sunscreen on your hands afterwards if you're going outside. Lemon juice causes sun sensitivity and burns.

And keep nail files EVERYWHERE - I have them in my car, in my desk at work, in my husband's car, and I think I have one in each of my kids backpacks. A lot of people bite their nails more once they get a small chip in one - if you file it down, the urge to bite it smooth goes away.

Just spend an inordinate amount of time on painting your nails (even try nail art despite the small nails you have) But if you can't paint you fingernails, do your toe nails. I did both of these and admired them so much that I stopped biting my nails.
using a base and topcoat helps a mani last longer. when you put on topcoat dont forget to do the very end of the tip of the nails, this will help prevent chipping at the top a great deal. i can wear a mani for about 2 weeks like this. if you have gel top coat it would probably be even better
Hey, just a heads up, don’t use Fimo clay. It’s pure crap. Use Hearty clay for a smooth finish, and Mermaid Puffy for more “fluffy” projects. Fimo breaks easily

I will be trying the sandwich bag hack. I do my own nails and like you said, using my non dominant hand is sometimes a nightmare for small intricate details lol. The easiest design for my non dominant hand I find is leopard print but anything smaller or certain flowers always looks like I let my 5 year old paint It for me Ha ha! Arricka Jacobs cap it then before it dries wipe the bottom with a toothpick to get rid of any polish or top coat.
this is kind of late, but always wrap the tip, even with short nails you should always wrap the tip

For a home made dotting tool, I just cut the sharp tip off a toothpick. It's perfectly round and you can adjust the size depending how high you cut
